People are so rude sometimes My BF and I took Zoe out today since it was prety nice out. He got a haircut and zoe and I waited. I have a dog stroller for him so its easier for us to get into places. Zoe is a barker so when he barks, everyone looks in the stroller. MOST of the people today gave me the dirtiest look as if a dog cannot have a stroller. They would say rude comments to their friends such as..."I can't believe she has a dog in that stroller" or "Are you serious? They make those for dogs?". I would get the occasional comment on how cute he is or OMG I thought it was a baby but people are just RUDE and it took alot to not yell at these people. He's MY dog and I treat him like a real baby because to me, he IS! What's their problem? Sorry...I just get so angry! |

Absolutely.........I think as a society we are getting meaner and ruder by the minute! |
|
I bet you got more nice comments than rude ones. I just think some people dont know what to say when they see something different which doesnt excuse them for being rude. I just ignore the rude ones. I used to never take Jewels out in a dress because I was afraid people would make rude comments and then I just decided I was going to start and I have gotten alot more nice comments then rude ones. I do get some looks sometimes though |

I know what you mean! People can be so pithy when they don't understand. It's becoming so common for people to dress their dogs and buy accessories, they are going to feel so stupid pretty soon when they realize they just weren't "with the times". I was in Santa Monica on a business trip last week and stopped at a little outdoor store called "fancy paws". It was so busy, the lady running it couldn't keep up! |

People are rude, that's definately a fact. I did see at Petsmart they now have pink playpens for dogs. All of us who already use kid playpens for our little ones were one step ahead of the pet department. Of course, the special pink playpen for dogs is $80...more than a kid playpen. I didn't happen to see any blue ones though for boys, sorry Zoe. They had the matching pink stroller right next to it. |

I know what you mean. Gracie and I were walking downtown. These two women walk by, look at Gracie and say, "That looks like a summer dress" with their noses in the air so high that, well.... Gracie had on her new pink hoodie dress that she got from the YT GE. Her hair was done really cute. It was plenty of warmth for her as it was a mild day. I thought it was appropriate for year around wear. I suppose if Gracie were that lady's dog, she would have her wear a leather jacket or something. Anyway, I just walked by, ignored the ladies and quite loudly told Gracie how pretty she looked. |

I think I'll make a sign for my stroller that says: "If you can't say anything nice then shut up!" |

Put up a sign for him on his stroller "Because YOU Don't VACCINATE - I get to ride". Being in a stroller is safe. I don't have one but if Parvo is everywhere like they're saying I may think about it and would DEF use one if I had young puppies. My girls love to walk it would be hard to deprive them of that - but a stroller is def the SAFE way to go |

hahaha..you guys crack me up!! I needed that. Thank you all for the wonderful advice and experiences. People need to mind their own business!! I can't believe people would make a big deal about a dress? They look adorable and so what if it looks a little "springy"? Can I only wear sunglasses in the summer? SOOOO ANNOYING! Yorkie3 - I really may make that sign...I LOVE IT! Zoe really is my baby like your yorkies to you. SO what if we treat them like they are humans....they practically are! |
|
I am hoping Santa Paws brings my furbabies a stroller for Christmas!! and if he doesn't well....I will be buying one as soon as possible! I want to be able to take them places with me and not have to worry about them walking. Besides, I thought it might be practical for when we are taking them to the dogtors! I won't have to worry about them being on the floor with other doggies. |

This is true....there's so many things they can catch now that this is the safest way!! |

i get the EXACT same comments when i have Austin out |
|
I'm sorry you had to listen to those negative poeple!!! I would just ignore them and go on......I never think of anything for a comeback (and of course, knowing me, probably wouldn't say it anyway - ha). It is said that people are that way. I agree w/ Tiffany - our pets are becoming more and more "out there" and those people are don't like it will eventually feel "stupid" because they are way behind on the times. AND Villette - oh Villette! You crack me up! That sign would be excellent!!!! |
|
I have never gotten a negative comment when I had my dogs out in their stroller, most people think it is a great idea. But even if I did get a negative comment it would not matter. My stroller is a necessity because I walk about 3 miles when I go for a walk. There is no way Jazzy could walk that far, let alone little Mickey. Besides my girls love their stroller. |
|
Just feel sorry for people who do not understand. There was a day when I would never have believed how much I would spoil and dote on dogs. I would never have said anything aloud, but I know I wondered in my mind how people could be "like that." I had no clue! Then I had the wonderful experience and have been hooked for life! I would love a stroller too -- seems the smartest and safest way to take them with us. I bet my senior girl would love that -- I know she misses her longer walks. |
|
Do not worry about it to much I get those comments also.. but you know it does draw attention and i like that my babies get a turn head or two.. I never thought I would have been one of us that spoils a dog..but I am now and loveing every min.... So enjoy and shake off the rude ones it takes all kinds of people and yorkies to make this world a wonderful place.. I am so happy tonite... Merry Christmas.... |

I didn't think I would spoil anybody to this extent but when it comes to zoe, I can't help it. He's just so darn cute and lovable!! I want to spoil him. He's so spoiled he doesn't even like the stroller unless its moving, when it stops he barks liek there's no tomorrow. That darn brat!!! Thank you all for your support and sympathy. I just hate it when people are rude to out dogs. Its like they are insulting our child you know? |
|
I took Chewy out to get a pic with SAnta at pet smart and he had his santa out fit on... we went to a few stores... most people were nice but some just gave the meanest looks.... The eyes were rollin... I didn't care. It was cold out and his Santa suit is really warm! Besides he is so cute in it!!!!:D |

I have all my dogs dressed & bring leashes, carriers & their stroller. No one says anything bad. Maybe they just no better, hahaha. I may have a reputation;) |

Quote .............He's MY dog and I treat him like a real baby......... Don't yell at me or get me wrong - but I think it's the above attitude that many of us have with our dogs that causes a lot of the remarks that we don't like to hear. It's a pretty fair tradeoff --- We think they're rude and they we're crazy!!!!! So if you want to go out in public with your dog dressed in clothes, riding along in a stroller - with you treating and talking to it like a little human baby ------- get ready and be prepared.......and just keep walking and moving along.... ***** I think what we feel is that we have the right to be "crazy," but no one has the right to be rude..... (I'm joking, of course!) Carol Jean |

Let's so by some wild chance I didn't own dogs and knew nothing about them and products for them, you think people would be courteous to keep stupid comments to themselves. So what we dress our dog, put pony tails on them, or put them in a purse or in a stroller. I always get stupid comments like you need to have your own baby. Like Chachi's mom said above, we do get more nice comments than rude ones. |
|
I get some of those occasionally from the public but the nice ones out do the bad ones but I get a lot of bad ones from my hubby including I am crazy, he is just a dog etc. We even argued about it but oh well, I love Siu Pao and I have no kid so he is my kid.I do tend to mother him but after all, I am a female with motherly instinct hehe. |
|
Mean people suck, and they are all over the place. I agree with you. If I want to treat my dog like a baby what does it matter to you? I can spoil my dog and dress my dog in cute outfits and talk to the dog constatnly and if you want to think I am crazy then so be it, but leave me the f*&$ alone. Besides, my dog is much cuter and nicer than any of those ol' hags! "The more people I meet the more I love my dog!" You go girl! |
