Where exactly do you go........
 

when you put your yorkie in a carrier and take him/her with you? I really want to buy a nice carrier, but for the life of me, I have no idea where I would go if I put my yorkies in a carrier and took them with me somewhere. They can't go to work with me, they can't go shopping with me, they can't go to the grocery store, or out to lunch or dinner....I'm just confused. I want to buy a nice carrier, but when in the heck would I ever use it?! :confused:

I ask myself the same question... and then I feel sooooooo bad for wanting to put Gizmo in a bag, I think to myself, I would HATE for someone to stick me in a bag ..lol..... the things I think of....:rolleyes:

That is sort of what I have been thinking about. I don't want to spend too much when I mostly will only use it to go to the vet and maybe Petsmart. I might be able to sneak them into a high school baseball game, but would they even like that? Besides all the girls would figure it out and want to pass them around. I'll have to think about it.

I sneak them into the mall, stores, the bank, you name it and they've been there hee hee :p.

I saw a woman in Wal-Mart yesterday with her 2 maltese in a doggie stroller. She wasn't hiding them. I had mine in the front seat of the cart wrapped in a blanket. Nobody said anything, but I was worried they would until I saw stroller lady.

I use Jaxon's carrier bag whenever we go in the car - I literally buckle it in like a carseat! He goes lots of places with me - Home Depot, the post office, the liquor store, Linens & Things, even when we went shopping for a car!!! Some people give you funny looks but it doesn't bother me. :D

yeah i had the same question, one think i do also want to know, what do you put inside the carrier? just the dog? like can u put blankets?

That is why I sold my Juicy bag! When Gracie was very young, she was scared and would not walk on her own if I took her inside a store or something. Now that she is older, that issue has resolved. If I don't want her walking because it is too dangerous (like at Lowes), I just put her in child seat part of the shopping cart. She is happy there. Otherwise, she goes on her own two feet. Carriers are nice, but I really don't use them.

You’re so funny! Mine have carriers that were a gift from my aunt for their Bday. I have never used them, as I like showing my kids off. I take them on leashes to PetSmart, two different per friendly restaurants and for walks. I like having a break from the little rascals, so I value my time alone without them occasionally.:eek:

I take Molly many places. She loves her carrier and feels safe. When people see her head poking out they always try to pet her. Molly then retrieves back and disappears in the carrier. I call her my "turtledog". I can not blame her with a hugh hand coming towards her face. I just tell people it is her turtle impression and they usually laugh and do not try to pet her.

I take her to bookstores, outside patio restaurants, drug store, home depot, mall and in a zippered undercover carrier to places where they might say something.

Take baby steps in getting her use to the carrier. It probably took a few months of training before she was comfortable and wanted to go. I always make it fun with lots of treats and cuddles. It is well worth it...

We have 2 outdoor malls here and all of the towns have nice downtowns. Loki usually walks between the stores and I pick him up to go in the stores (mostly clothing stores). Sometimes I use the carrier. We go to restaurants that have outdoor seating when it is warm. I don't "sneak" him into places - there are a lot of dog friendly stores and if I am unsure if they are then I put him in his bag. I avoid places with food because I would hate to get them in trouble. So far I have not been asked to leave any place. The bag is nice if I go shopping for clothes because he can just sleep in the bag if I try something on. Also, people are less likely to see him right away and I don't get stopped every 10 seconds. When I go to the big outlet mall I usually only go to the same 3 or 4 stores and they are so far apart that he gets a good walk in between then I throw him in the bag when we go inside.

We make our grocery trips separate or my husband and I go together so one of us can wait in the car with Loki. When we go out we just make a list of places we need to go and then decide whether or not to take him with. It is nice to be out all day with him and not worry about rushing home. He just sleeps in his car seat like he would sleep in his crate, but we can stop for potty breaks!

I have two carriers that I have never used. I don't know where I'd take any of mine. I usually don't go that many places. Maybe I'll try more this summer, but I hate taking them out in the cold.

I think it's easiest when you only have one. I can't imagine going out with 2 or 3 unless they were all walking.

I wrap Loki in a blanket and he snuggles in his bag in the cold. It's actually easier in the cold than in the warm weather because Loki gets too hot in the summer in his bag.

My mother is quite elderly and has Alzheimers. Since I'm her guardian I sometimes need to drop what I'm doing and fly to Florida to take care of her business. I can't always get a sitter and need to take Adie with me. I love her company on the plane and no one complains when I take her out of the carrier.

I also plan on keeping her confined after she is spayed. She is just too active to trust outside of her crate or carrier.

I snuck her in to the hospital where I work (not on patient floors) to help me work one Saturday. I even stopped to talk to one of the security guards I know. He either didn't suspect or didn't say anything about it. Adie is usually very quiet but does move around a lot at first.

I take Coco shopping, restaurants, banks, grocery stores, movies etc. She loves to come with me everywhere. Never barks or whines or anything. Just chills out. She only whines if she needs to go potty. ;)

I take Lillian with me..without her bag..If I get kicked out its the stores loss not mine I can go buy whatever it is somewhere else.

i would love to take lexi everywhrere i go,but she kinda heavy for me.
the carriers i got for her, just arent good enough... not sturdy enough..
i work all day so she is home, but when i come home i dont want to leave her again incase i have to go shopping or something, i like to take her with me..
im trying all sorts of carriers right now.. lately ive been keeping her home, but rushing to do things.. it stinks....

I used to sneak Bengi in a lot of places like grocery stores, home depot, walmart, target, the mall, you name it! But now he started to bark at people and people get scared at the bark and try to find where's the dog, so I'm afraid I'm gonna be kicked out. For now, I only take him to open places. Hopefully this is just a phase...

I have a few nice carriers that I bought for Ferdinand before I got him thinking I'd take him everywhere with me. I do take him places like Target, Home Depot, and outdoor mall we have, PetSmart, etc but I just take him on a leash. If he decides he doesn't want to walk, I just put him in the child seat. I really never use his carrier because he hates it.

I use the carrier as a car seat. I take my little guy to work everyday. He has to be in his carrier and buckled in. I really don't take him any where but work. Maybe to my sister's once in a while.

Will Home Depot and Lowes allow dogs? I'd love to take mine there, we are there alot and I've never seen anyone with a dog.

Loki has been to Lowes in his bag. I don't know that it is encouraged but I was not asked to leave.

yes.. now with the new house we literally live at Lowes... Gizmo LOVEs going... and they allow pets.. so does Home Depot..

Home Depot was the only place I was told NO DOGS ALLOWED and I had Monday in a carrier. When I told the lady it was a therapy dog, she came back a third time to ask if I had a doctor's note .... I mean, itz not as if this little Yorkie stuck in a carrier is going to pee on their floor or damage their stock .... And thatz why I bought a more discreet bag ....

and I have found car dealerships would let you bring a LION in if they knew you were buying a car there. In May 2003 I took Monday with me, when she was 8 months old and had her in a hard case carrier .... but let her out for a bit ... she peed ... they rushed over with paper towels and a mop ... anything to get a sale.

The next time I took her to the same car dealership (this past August).. I held her in my arms and she was no problem, they even let me put her down on the floor and walk ... (but she is 4 years old now.)

I don't think otherz would be so permissive, but I have had her with me in Walmart (in a carrier, in the cart) .... and in a supermarket!

I live in a small town and with small towns come TONS of small town events. Maizee goes everywhere with me for those. She has gone to carnivals, Bark in the Park, the dog park, athletic events, car shows, just around town when I'm window shopping, pretty much everywhere. She's been in parades as well and gets tired after walking so long, so I just stick her in there and she loves it. She'll poke her head out and enjoy the view. I've tried sneaking her into stores before, but I swear they look more for people sneaking dogs in than they do for people sneaking things out.

I used to take Tika all over the place with me (except restaurants & grocery store) in my Juicy purse carrier, but since I got Bindi, the purse got a little heavier. She hid in the purse really well so no one knew she was in there.

Me and my husband travel a lot to see family. I use the carrier primarily for travel. When we stay with friends I leave the carrier on the floor open w/ blankets in it and Ajah uses when she wants to get away or be alone. :) I also use it to sneak her into places;)
