Oh my goodness, Jen! I am so sorry for this loss! Well, if people will break into a home to steal human children - why not pets! gggrrrrrrrrrrrr Leaving pets in car: It IS illegal, and if someone turns you in for a suspicious abuse, the dogs will be taken from you, anyway. Also....they are not safe in a car left unattended. Think about it. If someone will be bold enough to break into a car for a cd player, or camera, or whatever...why NOT a pet that can be resold?! |
I bought my first Yorkie twenty years ago now. Even at that time the people I got him from warned me that they can get stolen. They were at risk then for thieves to steal them or any dog and they still are. |

That is horrible! Do you think it was someone you knew? Nancy |

I hope not. If so, they are subhuman. I do believe it was someone that knew I had a yorkie. I walked her all the time. She went everywhere with me, except work. |

dog snatching yorkshire terrier are number 1 on the list for the most breed of what people steal... i know that as my little baby is registered with missing pets beareau and they told me that yorkies are the breed witch people steal the most |
I never leave anything in the car that I'm not willing to say "goodbye" to. I had my car broken in once and that was all it took. My car was parked in a Federal Gov't parking lot right across from an occupied guard shack and cameras! They didn't see it! Thieves are bold and cocky to do that if you ask me. Luckily it was a cassette radio and cassettes (this is years ago) that were taken and not a pet. |
If anybody tried to steal my dogs they would be barking at them so loud I would catch them |
stealing yorkies I would never leave my dogs in a car. My husband was doing this and I put my foot down. People steal dogs and sell them to research labs. Not only that, they just plain steal them because they don't want to pay for one. I keep a close eye on my dogs when in the yard. |
It depends on the neighborhood. I'm in Central NJ in a small town. I've NEVER heard of a dog being stolen here. But yes, it does happen all too often. |
