I don't even think they would look for her. They might ask a few people if they saw her, but I doubt they would put signs up and call around to a bunch of shelters. And I really doubt they have taken the time or money to microchip her. I like the idea about offering them money for her. I figure they would go for it. I just hope we can get this baby into a better home. |
i seriuosly diubt that someone who ties there yorkie outside and basically forgets about her would spend the money much less take the time to have that dog microchipped. anyway take her awy from them one way or another but as soon as you do they will prob run out and get another! maybe you could contact local humane society or rescues who could at the very least talk those people into getting the dog fixed! either way the dog is loosing out staying with people like that! we (humans) domisticated dogs and now they depend on us for the most part to care for them so why is it that someone like that thinks they have the right to treat them as just a animal! makes me sick! |
Those poor baby's it's getting colder here by the day and to think they will be trapped outside with no warmth!! |
God i had trouble sleeping last night thinking about that little girl, i hope you can help her :hands: :cry8: |

That IS disturbing....:( Francie |
I vote abuse...although local officials would probably call it neglect. Isn't there some sort of ASPCA type organization you could report this to? Just my opinion....but I'd take that poor, lonley yorkie, find a good home for her.......and explain later. Francie |
I would take her and her puppies!!! maybe give the puppies to a YTer who you know will love and care for them the way they should be.. Place the momma with a new family. Do it at night lol. If I saw something like this I would probably use my biggest pan and hit the neighbor over their empty head (and take the dogs) |

I think offer to buy her? But if it doesn't work out, and then you 'take it' when it got loose, they will know its you. Something has to be done but it has to be right whatever you decide to do the first time. |

hahaha....EXACTLY what I was thinking!!! GOOD ONE!!!:animal36 :) |
This is most definitly animal abuse and neglect. Regardless of whether the dog has shelter and food or not, they must also have a suitable environment in which they can survive. No way, can a small dog (regardless of breed) survive in 28 degree temps; let alone a litter of PUPS! This is animal abuse, neglect and cruelty on all counts. I would definitly contact rescue groups, if there are no government/state/country animal protection agencies in your area. Which I am not doubting your word, but I find it very hard to believe there are no animal protection agencies in the state of Kansas. Maybe you are not contacting the right people???? If you tell me the address, I will gladly do research to find out which government agencies are responsible in your area/state. There has to be at least one. Heck, here in NJ, we not only have animal protection agencies for all animals in general, we have specific animal protection groups and laws for endangered species. Thank goodness, I would not want it any other way! I would be happy to report these people to an animal protection agency. I agree with those that say do not take this into your own hands. No matter how good your intentions are, these people would have an excellent case in court to prosecute for theft and assorted other charges. If you have a relationship with these people in which you think they would be receptive to the idea of you purchasing their dog and her pups, and you are willing to do this--then I would do that first. But if you do not have that type of relationship with these neighbors, I would then go the legal route. Again, if you would like help in finding out about government animal protection agencies and animal rescue groups in your area--just send me a pm. I am more than willing to help. But please, do not even entertain the idea of going on their property and taking the dog and her pups, or even picking up the dog/pups when loose and keeping her/them restrained in your possession, when you know their rightful owner. I agree with the suggestion of taking pictures, this will be evidence when/if you report them to an agency. Good luck, keep us posted. |
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I like the idea of picture taking and also putting them in the newspaper! I never thought of that...putting our heads together here has helped me with this issue. I won't steal the mommy or pups..due to a lot of reasons I won't go into here but I am working on getting some exposure of the situation. You all have given me the verbal support I needed...thanks so much for your concern and help in saving these precious little lives. I now know I am not out of sync in my thinking this is abuse and am ready to expose to the general public if things don't change. There has, however, been some improvement since my last post... my son has been going over several times a day to check on the mom and pups as the chain gets wound around things so tightly that the poor animal can't walk. He was told last time there was a litter of pups to stay out of their yard unless they were home but he told the man he would not let that dog stand out there crying for help! They had no trouble giving the puppies away that time and most likely have already got homes for these two new ones...we could give the mom a good home but the dog is considered his "children's pet" and not about to give her up! I do however believe that my son's concern has prompted the man to move the Mom and pups into a shelter! Thank God for that! We will be keeping an eye out though and if things haven't changed for the best and the mom is seen chained up I will proceed with the exposure and they won't be pretty pictures you can be sure of that! If the local paper won't print them I will print them and throw them into yards all over town! Whatever it takes to get it before caring loving people and I will post the outcome here in YT! Thanks again for your support! :thumbs up |
i don't understand why would you post it in the paper? contact a local rescue or humans society ot say something to those people. |
Stealing Seems alot of people have a problem with "stealing the dog", I dont' like stealing myself, I think of it as saving. I use to live in a duplex many years ago on a main road and the the dad of the family of two small boys ( I think they were 3 and 1) bought a little chocolate toy poodle for them, everyday when the dad went to work the mom would turn the dog out, in all kinds of weather, I took him in every day and let him back out just before the dad would come home. It got to be winter and like 25 degrees out and sure enuff the lil poodle was out, I called a friend who's mother loved poodles and had just lost her little poodle, and arranged to take him to her, I know this little guy was happy and loved and warm. I don't think I stole him, I saved him. |
How about offering to provide shelter for the mama and pups in your home for the winter? Explain to them that small dogs don't have enough body heat to survive the winter outside, and that Yorkies don't have an undercoat to keep them warm like most dogs do. Maybe they don't know that. I would nicely explain to them why it's bad for these babies to be outside and say that you would be happy to take them into your home for the winter if they don't have room in their house. And after having them in your home for so long, maybe they will let you keep her. |
Well Go Save That Dog! Im sorry but I would not be able to live next door and DO NOTHING! This dog and her pups are outside in the cold, and chained...OMG!!!!! Please forgive my rudeness: BUT WHY DO YOU POST THIS STUFF, IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO GO OUT ON A LIMB AND SAVE THIS DOG AND HER PUPS? I PERSONALLY DO NOT WANT TO READ ABOUT HOW SOMEONE IS SEEING ABUSE AND NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. PLEASE FORGIVE MY RUDENESS: BUT DONT POST IF YOUR NOT GONNA ACT. |
right on girlfriend:thumbup:    this just pisses me off &^((%%$^$^$^$&$&$&$&$^&$&$&*(^*  |

I was only kidding when I said go get it. But I would bring it in if I found it wandering around. Trouble would then be the puppies. |

Who me ? |
I Agree,,,,,,,,,,,,Duh its not stealing if your saving a life. Me personally would not hesitate to go in someones backyard and take it. Actually we did that one time on a Rottie that was chained for days and days with no water, no food and no shelter. Made my hubby take me and get him and we found him a great home. the owners never did contact us. Quote:

are dogs required to be licensed in your county? Call whatever bureau is in charge of that, explain the situatuion and tell them to go check if the dog is licensed.. (kinda like jailing Al Capone for "tax evasion") ... however have them do it anonymously if you do indeed intend to "scoop up" the poor baby up and find her a better home. |
Thanks to all of you for your positive imput as well as criticism! I didn't mean to imply that I wasn't going to do anything...I posted here b/c I was honestly seeking for the right answer..I just wanted to know that I was doing the right thing before rushing out there and ending up doing a stupid thing. I had turned to the only authorities I knew and told there is nothing illegal about tying up a dog as long as it has access to food and water and also must have a current tag which is received when an animal gets a rabies vaccination. I didn't receive one positive solution from anyone in authority here and I didn't know where to turn next. I would not have posted this if I wasn't going to do anything about it. As I said before, I appreciate your suggestions and your support. Sorry if I offended anyone here in YT. I know all of you will be happy to know the issue has been resolved as of today and NO I didn't steal the dogs..it didn't require any intervention at all from me or the authorities. |
