My male is over a year old and he squats to pee. I have a male and female. There are qualities that I like about both of them. My male was neutered early (5 months of age) and he has never humped anything nor hiked his leg to pee....he still squats. He is also more cuddly and loving and he was MUCH easier to potty train, which I think comes from him being very eager to please. My female is more laid back and independant. She could care less whether she is on the couch with me or laying on the floor or if she is in my lap or not. My male has to be right where I am all the time. I love having one of each. I will always have one of each. |

Good one. :lol tears :lol tears |
I have always had females and Dennis is my first male and I have to say that I prefer females! All my females were the most docile, loving, and perfect little angels there ever existed. Dennis is handsome sweet and loving but I hate the peeing on every bush thing they have to do. However I do love him, but my girls are heavenly! |
My Tootie(male) is SO MUCH FUN! My Hopey(female) is SO SPOILED! I dont really have a preference one over the other... they are both just as loving as the other and both are HARD HEADED about potty training... The only thing bad about Hope is she is so afraid and timid if I take her out and Tootie is just too big to carry(16 lbs) so they prefer to stay home.... I dont really see a difference of one being male and one being female. They are both so much more my babies than my others, different breeds... I just LOVE them both... d |
I had a girl for 16 years...at the same time I had boy (different breed though) and I found I favored my girl. After she was gone and when I was ready for another Yorkie I really wanted another girl. When I went to look at some they had only one girl and she was too pricey for me...they had one boy in my price range so I decided to try a boy...he was so cute I couldn't resist him. Well, I love him as much as my girl...I would not hesitate to get another boy now. I find them both to be great. I don't think it's their gender...it's the breed. For me anyway. :D |
I have had both male and female dogs and cats over the years. My present furbabies are 1 male cat, 1 female cat and 2 female dogs. I have never seen a difference in the animals based on their gender, I think it is more a personality thing. I have had equally loving males and females. Both of my cats are very loving but my male is more selective about who he is going to grace with his affection, while my female cat loves everybody. My older female dog (4 years old) is a total love bug and never leaves my side. My baby (female 4.5 months old) is affectionate, but not nearly as affectionate as my 4 year old female dog. The baby is always toooooooo busy to stop and give affection. She is like the energizer bunny--go, go, go! However once she finally tires out, she loves to give kisses and cuddle. I think animals are like people, they all have their unique personalities. From my experience, gender has nothing to do with it, this has been true for both my dogs and cats. |
They are both better . |
I wouldn't trade my boy for the world. He is absolutely sweet and kisses me all day. My girl is sweet too but nowhere near my boy! |
I have had both and I have found males to be better pets hands down, also if they are fixed early they never raise their legs. |
All my dogs were males. Temperament wise, they are and were really good and loves to follow us around the house. I don't mind haveing a female dog in the future but for me, its the same. And yes, all dogs have different individual personalities. |
Sounds like many of you share the same experience that I have had. Seymour, my little guy, has to be with me every minute. If I sit down he is right there. If I am on the computer, he is in the bed next to the computer. Shelby, my little girl, can curl up on the floor if I am on the couch. She will lay at end of the couch if I am on the opposite end. She does like to sit by me or on my lap......... but it isn't a necessity...... to Seymour it is! :aimeeyork On the flip side.... Seymour sticks to my hubby like glue. He is his favorite. Shelby is a Mama's girl. ( I kinda like it ....... besides she would never get dressed in pink if it were any different!) :) |
I have a 20 month old male and he is loving when he wants to be, which is not very often. He is always glad to see me when I come home, and he jumps and plays and sits on the arm of my chair, but he is not a real lovey dovey! He kinda takes it is spells. He is really protective of me.:D I have never had a female. |
