male or female better????? what's the difference between male and female yorkie?? |
I prefer the sweetness and attitude of a male myself! The girls tend to act tough, but behind all that diva attitude, they're typically not. I've had both and prefer a boy HANDS DOWN-to show anyway. Girls, I think are great pets. |
I have three females and one male...my females range in age from 8 months to 4 years...Reece is 4 MONTHS and rules the roost!! He TAKES what he wants and if the girls dont give it to him...he lays in front of them and barks and barks until they give in to him!! He is a little SH#&...BUT he is also a cuddle bug too!! I notice a BIG difference between male and female but they both have their good points...also Reece has been ALOT harder to housebreak for some reason?? Not sure if that is a male/female thing or not?? Dawn |
my mom has a girl and boy. i like both. they all have their own little personalities. i bought a boy. |
hmmm.. are male dogs are naughtier than females?? |
I've had both - and the end result is that they were all equally wonderful pets. I am honest when I say - I don't prefer one over the other. More than the sex - a lot depends on the temperment and personality of each individual dog.... I think especially if our pets are neutered and spayed -- (which they should be) - we'll find few reasons to prefer one sex over the other. Carol Jean |

No , they are not naughtier . |
My Male yorkie is very sweet and I am glad I have him but I prefer my female just because she favors me and my male favors my Husband. There really isnt alot of differences in the two they all have their unique personalities that arent limited to their gender |

I find the males are a bit harder to potty train but once they have it they have it down pat. The girls seem to have more set backs in that area later in life. All my females right now aren't fixed and they do seem to be a bit more moody and bossy. It really all comes down to personality though and personnal preference. |
We have had both girls and boys before. I have always found the boys to be more lovable and for whatever reason easier to house break. Our Shepherd was housebroken in about a months time. He was very easy. Diesel took about 3 or 4 months to housebreak. We now have Keira and she is about 7 weeks, she is trained to go to the puppy pad. The only difference that I can see so far is her energy level. She is VERY high strung compared to Diesel when he was little. Only time will tell. However, I prefer boys anyday. |
my male is very sweet and loving, I wouln't have it any other way! Such a big teddy bear! |

seems like majority are on males :D well, mummy is getting me another pup, and the breeders only has male with him, it's a yorkie mix silky.... and i am still undecided.... should i take it or should i not... thou i appreciate mum's intention of getting me another pup, as i recently just lost my baby tara.... and i have another option which is a pure silky terrier... hmmm... but i wanted a yorkshire... yet it will cost us a hole in mummy's pocket:( in malaysia pure yorkie is sold at 3 to 4 k.... so a pure yorkie will need to be in future planning list... i am going to get one myself :D not now but soon... back to the gender... i just want to know how a male doggie will behave and their characteristic......as i know some of my frens doggie are very naughty especially males.... |
I have one of each and I love mine the same but my boy is a mommas boy all the way. He's the cuddler and the kisser...my girl is in her own little world and only cuddles when she feels like it:D So when it comes to what I prefer I can say I don't have a preference. They are different in their own way and thats what I love. |

I have a boy and he's very playful and loving. I don't have a girl yet and I'm not sure what I'm gonna get next. I like girls because of all the girly stuff, but having a boy has been a good experience. |

My male is over a year old and he squats to pee. I have a male and female. There are qualities that I like about both of them. My male was neutered early (5 months of age) and he has never humped anything nor hiked his leg to pee....he still squats. He is also more cuddly and loving and he was MUCH easier to potty train, which I think comes from him being very eager to please. My female is more laid back and independant. She could care less whether she is on the couch with me or laying on the floor or if she is in my lap or not. My male has to be right where I am all the time. I love having one of each. I will always have one of each. |

Good one. :lol tears :lol tears |
I have always had females and Dennis is my first male and I have to say that I prefer females! All my females were the most docile, loving, and perfect little angels there ever existed. Dennis is handsome sweet and loving but I hate the peeing on every bush thing they have to do. However I do love him, but my girls are heavenly! |
My Tootie(male) is SO MUCH FUN! My Hopey(female) is SO SPOILED! I dont really have a preference one over the other... they are both just as loving as the other and both are HARD HEADED about potty training... The only thing bad about Hope is she is so afraid and timid if I take her out and Tootie is just too big to carry(16 lbs) so they prefer to stay home.... I dont really see a difference of one being male and one being female. They are both so much more my babies than my others, different breeds... I just LOVE them both... d |
I had a girl for 16 years...at the same time I had boy (different breed though) and I found I favored my girl. After she was gone and when I was ready for another Yorkie I really wanted another girl. When I went to look at some they had only one girl and she was too pricey for me...they had one boy in my price range so I decided to try a boy...he was so cute I couldn't resist him. Well, I love him as much as my girl...I would not hesitate to get another boy now. I find them both to be great. I don't think it's their gender...it's the breed. For me anyway. :D |
I have had both male and female dogs and cats over the years. My present furbabies are 1 male cat, 1 female cat and 2 female dogs. I have never seen a difference in the animals based on their gender, I think it is more a personality thing. I have had equally loving males and females. Both of my cats are very loving but my male is more selective about who he is going to grace with his affection, while my female cat loves everybody. My older female dog (4 years old) is a total love bug and never leaves my side. My baby (female 4.5 months old) is affectionate, but not nearly as affectionate as my 4 year old female dog. The baby is always toooooooo busy to stop and give affection. She is like the energizer bunny--go, go, go! However once she finally tires out, she loves to give kisses and cuddle. I think animals are like people, they all have their unique personalities. From my experience, gender has nothing to do with it, this has been true for both my dogs and cats. |
They are both better . |
I wouldn't trade my boy for the world. He is absolutely sweet and kisses me all day. My girl is sweet too but nowhere near my boy! |
I have had both and I have found males to be better pets hands down, also if they are fixed early they never raise their legs. |
All my dogs were males. Temperament wise, they are and were really good and loves to follow us around the house. I don't mind haveing a female dog in the future but for me, its the same. And yes, all dogs have different individual personalities. |
Sounds like many of you share the same experience that I have had. Seymour, my little guy, has to be with me every minute. If I sit down he is right there. If I am on the computer, he is in the bed next to the computer. Shelby, my little girl, can curl up on the floor if I am on the couch. She will lay at end of the couch if I am on the opposite end. She does like to sit by me or on my lap......... but it isn't a necessity...... to Seymour it is! :aimeeyork On the flip side.... Seymour sticks to my hubby like glue. He is his favorite. Shelby is a Mama's girl. ( I kinda like it ....... besides she would never get dressed in pink if it were any different!) :) |
I have a 20 month old male and he is loving when he wants to be, which is not very often. He is always glad to see me when I come home, and he jumps and plays and sits on the arm of my chair, but he is not a real lovey dovey! He kinda takes it is spells. He is really protective of me.:D I have never had a female. |
