Did a Yahoo search I did a search on Yahoo. There is a Veterinary Board of Conduct in the US. I would do a search for Canada. They have to follow guidelines just like US Vets do. This is disgusting.....you don't even want to hear how I would have handled it......she would have been missing her ear drum......not physical violence.....just my screaming in her d--m ear drum...... I would definately find who owns the practice....she may not.....and then file a complaint with owner, and the location where this service was being provided....and write a letter to the editor.....I would not stop until she was severely reprimanded. |

Plus, no one knows how they would have reacted unless they were actually in the situation. She was in shock... give her a break!! |
I am just furious.....  This still makes me livid.....:thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown |

I am so very sorry you and Parker had this horrible experience. I certainly hope that Parker suffered no lasting trama -- physical or mental. Sometimes when you are "in the moment" you are so shocked by the behavior of who those who claim to be professionals that thinking is muddled. Hindsight is always better, you can think of all those things you would of and could have done, but during the event, we do the best we can do. Sending hugs to you both :ghug: I would definately file a complaint with the the proper authorities AND stage a peaceful demonstration out in front of this vet's office to let other poor unsuspecting pet parents know just what type of person this vet is. Maybe a personal ad in the local newspaper..... good luck! |
OMG, I am apalled that anyone would act that way to an animal, least of all someone trained to handle animals. I am so sorry that you and your baby had to go through that. I hope Parker is okay. You are in our prayers. |
I don't know who you can call to turn this lady in, but maybe your vet has some ideas. Your vet doesn't do microchip? Good for your dog for biting! I normally wouldn't say that, but dang....she didn't treat him right at all. Some folks deserve a good bite! Sounds to me like she worked hard to get that bite! |
Hi guys Thanks again for everyones support. It's nice to know that I've posted this and out of 50some reply's not one person thinks that the vet handled this correctly. I know alot of people think I shoulda gave this vet a beating, and believe me, I'm disgusted with myself, for standing there so long. I seriously was in shock. And that is Sooo not like me, I usually have no problem speaking up but it was just insane, so dompletely unbelievable, I just couldn't believe what was going on. But enough what if's...time to do whatever I can NOW. I spoke with my vet, she is absolutely disgusted with how Parker was treated. She said this other vet is completely over-reacting, and that she should have handled it differently. She already faxed this vet BEFORE even hearing MY side and told her it was handled improperly. She's not sure how far this woman is going to take it yet, but that she and her staff will back me and Parker 100%. And that there's no possible way he would be put down. She said the vet SHOULD have just given me the microchip and said he was too stressed and riled up and to take it to my own vet to be done. She told me I can call the Ontario Veterinary College and they have a complaints procedure, but that its a really horrible process, but that either I or She can call and see what they suggest. Which I want to do for sure. I'm also looking into a few other options as well; reporting to our local humane society, reporting to the Senior Vet at her clinic, and also I am going to meet with a police officer about the incident. I don't know if anything will come from it, but I want some kind of Recorded Complaint. I honestly think this vet is trying to scare me OUT of filing a complaint, especially if she already has complaints about her. I finally have a day of tomorrow to look into things in depth, she kind of snowballed me with all of this at work. Talk about a stressful couple days! whew! Oh, and she faxed my vet again today wanting all of Parker's Previousl Incident Reports!!! As if he's some vicious attack dog and has a huge record! She's just getting ridiculas with the whole thing! The other crappy thing is, that because Parker is quarantined, he can't go to his vet apt tomorrow to have the microchips looked at, he has to wait til NEXT Friday. So she better pray to god, that nothing happens to that incorrectly placed microchip thats in there and he can't get looked at til then!!! The scariest thing is, that she actually thinks she's in the RIGHT? That her conduct was acceptable??? So how many other animals will she treat this way? But just in the uproar I've caused at my work about it, there's at least 50 people who are spreading it word of mouth, and 3 present clients of hers are changing vets because of it. So there's a small bit of good news. Oh and Parker is back to his old self, just stuck on house-arrest now lol. Again thanks for all the support, I will keep you all posted, Wish us luck!
