Is it a silly name?
 
Ok so my b/f and I have long been talking about adding a little boy to our little family, so Coco can have a brother. I was thinking feb/march would a good time. I will be moving in January so I'd rather have my new job and be settled into the new place with a few months for Coco to adjust on her own before I bring in a new pup. Anyway, I wanted my b/f to feel more involved with the new pup since he wasn't in the picture when I got Coco. So I told him he can name the puppy, with my approval of course. He wants to name the puppy...NUCKLES, only spelled Knuckles. I said why, he said it's kind of tough and cute at the same time. He just like the way it sounds. I'm sure by the time the puppy arrives we'll go through a bazillion names but I kind of like Nuckles, but it's definetely weird. Should I just let him pick it so he feels more involved or axe the name?..lol

Hmmm...it would be cute if it was say...a bull dog puppy! It is a cute name but I wouldn't give it to a Yorkie...JMHO.

I know he wanted Tank at first but I wasn't sure if I liked it. He said he would want his full name to be Tonka Tank and we'd call him Tank but I wasn't so sure about that..lol :D

I swear it took us almost a week to name Our baby Sonia..We did it at the vet. They asked her name and my hubby splirted out Sonia..I looked at him and said...I just dont care anymore..I'll never be happy with his names and the same with him so we quickley agreed. If he likes Knuckles then let him have it..It will grow n you!

I know you're right. If it makes him feel more involved I guess I should..lol..he's always like, well you got to pick out Coco and her name and everything. Why can't I have some of the fun for the next one? I was like ok you're NOT picking out the actual pup but you can pick the name, but I told him I have to like it too..lol

I'm not completely sold on Nuckles or Knuckles just yet. But I might let him run with it ;) Any suggestions for tough boy names? His favorite movie is Rocky so he thought maybe Mickey or Apollo...lol..any other ideas and your opinions on Knuckles.

If you can't tell from my yorkies' names (Hootie and Hobbs), I REALLY REALLY like names that are very unique and names that no one else has or would ever think of. So, I LOVE the name Knuckles! It is SO cute and VERY unique!!! And if it makes your BF feel involved in the whole process, I say GO FOR IT! :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup:

If the boyfriend is agreeing to another yorkie let him name it what ever he wants! Knuckles is a cute name, definately could be worse.

Knuckles is a great name...very original and different. I thought Oliver was an original name until I saw all of the Olivers on here!

I just talked to him and he was like "How about the name TUB, like tubby"..loool..he's really enjoying this. I'm really glad thuogh because then I know he wants him too, not just me. I don't know how I feel about Tubby, it's cute though. :D

That's a clever name Tonka Tank. My friend named his Bull Dozer & call him Dozer.

This is a cynical way to look at it, I guess, but who's paying? As in, if you and the boyfriend break up....who gets to keep the dog? That's who I think should name it what they want to! :D

Well it really doesn't matter who pays for it as we plan on getting married, but if by some small chance we broke up he would never take the dog :rolleyes: as he wouldn't have the slightest clue as to how to care for him. He was not an animal person until he started dating me and I converted him :D So I'm not worried.But he would be getting the puppy for me as a valentines gift, HOPEFULLY:D I could pick the name but I want him to feel involved.

I LOVE the name Tubby!!!!!! That is the name of Auburn University's football coach. Tommy Tubberville and everyone calls him Tubs or Tubby. So, I love it! War Eagle!

I am partial to Tonka Tank if we are voting but I also think Knuckles is adorable. It sounds tough and sweet and the same time. Sounds like you and B/F will have fun with this for a while. We did the same with Ben -- he was actually Bruno for a day but I sort of knew that was not going to stick. When we tried "Ben" out on him, it just fit. So, you might want to pick a few names and then see which one works best when you meet him.

That is what I think will happen. We'll stick to like 2-3 names then decide based on the actual puppy :D He's so cute though, wanting to be all involved..lol

Nuckles is a GREAT yorkie boy name. It is very original, so you won't have to worry about taking him to the park calling "Nuckles,come" and wind up with 47 1/2 dogs at your feet. Give that b/f a hug for naming the pup!

The only name that would be better would be Puffs then you would have Coco Puffs

LOOOL I like that but I have a feeling my b/f would have a tough time with his TOUGH BOY being called Puff...lol..I wouldn't mind, cause I'll dress him up with bows when daddy's not looking ;)
