I hate other people's cats in my yard. We live in a very small town (400 people) and if I had the problem I think I would use a b-b gun, and just pump it up enough to sting the cat, not break the skin. How mean is that. My thoughts are that I can keep my pets in my yard, so everybody else should be able to do the same. |
My dad is always thinking up something to keep the nieghbors cats out of our yard. When he finds something I'll let ya know :p |
Wow, a lot of great ideas! I will try the water and I like the live trap idea. But I think I will speak to the guy first. I would hate to just haul his cat off to a shelter (he may not be able to go get it), but he should be a responsible cat owner and keep his cat in his own yard. He did tell us that his cat never leaves his yard....yeah, right. |

Ammonia is supposed to work too. That might be a little cleaner than coyote pee too :p |
Take a look at your city, township, and county regulations. Where I live and in most places it is as illegal to have your cat roam free just as it is your dog. We had a bunch and I finally had enough so I had the police go to each of them and warn them about their cats and if they did not comply they would be ticketed. It came to a halt. I was told to begin to live trap them if I could so I could prove they were in my yard but I would think a picture of the cat would be the same evidence. |
I had a major cat problem at my old house! I didn't have a cat, but all the neighbors did. They would all come and use my lily garden as their outhouse. The smell was so bad we couldn't even open windows or our whole house would smell of cat urine! I tried everything. One day I was out working in my lily garden and working with the soil and stuck my hand into fresh cat poop. I had all I could do to keep from throwing up. Here, there is a leash law for dogs, but not for cats and I hate it when cat owners let their cats run like that. I finally sold the house...couldn't stand the cats any longer! Up until all this, I used to love cats...now I'm just not to crazy about them anymore...unless they are owned by responsible people! |
Cats are fine as long as they are in their yard and not mine. One of my neighbors comments was I should be thankful they are keeping down my mouse problem. Well if I had a mouse problem I would get my own cat if I wanted to deal with it in that manner. They go to the bathroom in my gardens, kill the birds and small animals that I feed and walk on the tops of our cars. The other problem is I have know idea if these cats are taken care of and have their shots. Seems to me if you want a pet you should keep them at home. |
Lucky me my neighbor has a doggy door for her cats. And can't understand why they are road kill or come up missing. We have Owl, and Eagles around us. But lucky me she keeps getting more everytime one shows up missing. |
I wish I could call the police and they would respond. I also have problems with stray DOGS roaming all over the neighborhood and even BIG dogs jumping the fence into my back yard. I have called the police for the DOGS and they do NOTHING. The police told me that we don't have a dog catcher anymore so we use one from another city. When I called that dog catcher, they never act interested in coming and just say "we will come and look for the dog if we get some time". I don't think they even come since the dog problem is still going on. I used to keep calling them and calling them every time I saw a dog running loose, which was usually 2-3 different dogs PER DAY. One time they told me that they came and saw the dog but couldn't catch it because it kept jumping in people's fenced yards. I have even spent hours of my time and lots of gas to follow the dogs around until I found where they live and called animal control to report it. They went to the people's house and fined them for not having shots up to date and not having city tags. They told me they can't do anything else about it. I am afraid to walk my Yorkies because of all the dogs running loose. I have had them charge us and one nipped my little Teddy. To this day he is afraid of dogs that look like border collies. People just let their dogs run loose because they don't want to be bothered with them and they know they will poop in everyone else's yard and they won't have to clean up after their dogs. They know no one will do anything about it. I even called the Mayor and nothing happened. The dogs are a big problem but the cat problem irritates me a lot too because the cat is in my yard every day and makes my dogs go nuts and to top it off, my pups eat the cat poop. Ok, so this city won't do a thing about loose dogs, I KNOW they won't bother with cats. Thanks for listening. I get carried away with this. |
What about an open window and a paintball gun!!!!;) MEEEEEOW! |
I hope you know I was KIDDING.... I would never really do that! (I have an indoor only cat that is declawed and I love him) |
