Bella dragging her butt So bella dragged her butt about 2 weeks ago...i thought it was because she had to poop...so i took her outside and she went....than today she dragged her butt again...but when i took her outside she didnt poop...we were out there for 25 min and she didnt go......i asked a friend...and they said she could have worms...and that when dogs drag their butt thats what it means. i thought it meant they had to go the bathroom.....can anyone offer some advice?? if she does have worms how serious is it? can i wait till tomorrow to take her to the vet? could it be potentially harmful if she has had them for two weeks?? thanks everyone |
I've not heard that it meant worms....I've always heard and verified from my Vet that it is mostly their anal glands need cleaned out. Usually this happens with their bowel movement, but some need a little help now and again. If you don't know how to do this your Vet can show and explain the correct way. Hope this helps some. |
Jasmine was doing that and when I took her to get her groomed the groomer does there anal glands and she hasnt done it since if that helps! |
but then again i also heard that it is an indication |
thanks so much....i had her anal glands cleaned out about 25 days ago...when i got her spayed...is that too long??? is it ok for me to wait till tom to have them cleaned out? or is it serious? sorry if these r stupid questions.... |
an indication that dragging the butt means worms??? |
I had a puppy once that dragged her butt and we found out she had worms. I would give your vet a call in the morning and drop off a stool sample. A simple test will tell you. You might want to examine the stool as well for any sign of them. You are gonna be okay! |
All while I was growing up, if a dog did the butt-scootin' boogie, it meant he/she had worms. Guess that was an old wives' tale. Roxy had done it a couple times, but each time I checked her afterward and she just had some little pieces of dried poop in her fur. I cleaned her and she was ok. My brother's beagle does the sit-'n-spin for amusement. She sits down and her front paws go around her butt, and her butt never leaves the spot it's on. She will do this for minutes at a time. It's hilarious to watch. She is actually grinning when she does this. They always said she was one nugget short of a Happy Meal.:D Maybe her bottom just plain itches.;) |
i have another name for it dont me to be to vulgar but i call it a$$ surfing i dont mean to make a joke but it is funny when you see them doing that. i love my baby and would never make fun of him |
I didnt know what that meant either..hope this helps http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54631 This is a topic i was discussing w/ other members hope it helps |
