| Scooting..groomer? My puppy has been scooting every now and then. Should I bring him to the groomer to have his anal gland expressed? |

| I would. But, if it were me, I would prefer a vet do it, because untrained people can cause injury to the delicate anal glands when expressing them incorrectly or with too much pressure. Good luck!

| Back from groomer I just came back from the groomer. She supposedly have 25 years of experience. She said my boy don't have anal gland problem but is still scooting so I have no idea why. His fecal test came back negative for worms so I guess maybe its just a habit thing. My baby whined a lot and I feel the groomer isn't being very gentle with him. The lady did not really try to make my baby comfortable so I am not sure if my baby will be willing to go to the groomer again. I am quite disturbed by it. I will learn myself how to groom my baby. Can anyone tell me what I need in order to do my baby's own grooming and where do you usually get them besides the pet store? |

| A small clippers, a small hair cutting scissors. They usual shampoos and brushes and such, but you probably have them anyway. I made my own groomingd arm, It really helps when you need a third hand. when you need a 4th hand you have to enlist hubby's help. You can buy the clippers and scissors at Walmart. Maybe a book or a video if you don't wnat to just use trial and error. |

If they do it excessively it could be a sign of worms, or anal gland problems. Usually they manage to take care of the anal glands themselves, and I think the scooting might even help. If they are not doing it all the time they could be just cleaning themselves or they might just have an itch. LOL

Have you trimmed the hair on his butt so no poop sticks to it? IMO daily is too often, but you could ask your vet.
