Question about missing link
 
Im about to purchase another bag but I need some help making a descision. I've been putting missing link in all 3 of my girls food. My question is this: should I get the regular missing link formula? or missing link with glucosamine? I have a 4.5 year old boxer that I think would benefit well from the missing link with glucosomine, but do my little ones need the extra glucosomine? Will it be okay if that have it? or should I just get the regular formula? Any input will be very much appreciated, Thanks! :)

I have the regular Missing Link now but the next package I am going to get the plus. On the package it says to maintain healthy joints so I think it is fine for a dog of any age

I agree with Chachi. I am sure the PLUS formula is fine for your other two as well as Penny. The first bag of ML I purchased was the regular. Then I bought my mom the PLUS because her yorkie has Luxating Patellas. But her yorkie would not touch the stuff so she gave the PLUS to me. Now, neither of my yorkies have joint problems, but I feed it to them anyway. I am sure it is not a problem and it'll be fine. :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup:

It is $18.99 at petsmart plus shipping and handling. So depending on the cost of shipping would be the price difference.
It is $14.99 at www.petfooddirect.com plus shipping. I don't know the shipping price.

Not long with Penny:D . I had an 8oz bag and Im almost out and its been less than 3 weeks and Ive forgotten to put it on thier food sometimes. I dont actually give penny the full dose becasue lets face it, thats like half a bag, lol. I only give penny 2 tablespoons, anymore than that just seem like too much on her food.

Hi, yes I have used the missing link plus with my maltese since I've had her. Also petfooddirect is having a sale on the l pound bag presently which is almost an unheard of price as mentioned of $14.95 and the shipping to Florida is $6.99. I've ordered two. I did call the toll free number to see about an expiration date but they do not store this product in their warehouse so she really didn't know.

I was thinking of ordering some too for my 3. It says to feed 1 tsp., is that once a day? For those of you that have used the 1 lb. bag, how long do you think it would last me for 3 dogs that are under 20 lbs. each? I guess that means they would get 1 tsp. a day? I just didn't know if I should get the 1 lb. or smaller. petfooddirect has a great price on it.

As I remember it says 1 tsp. per 25 lbs. of weight... :confused:

I have seen many post on people giving thier dogs missing link. What is it and what is it used for. Sorry this is such a dumb question.:D

I feed both of my yorkies out of the same bowl...I free feed...and every morning I put 1 tsp of missing link on top of their dry food and leave it out all day. The next day, if they haven't eaten all their food from the day before, I pour it back in the bag and get a fresh scoop of food, and put 1 tsp of ML on it. I just don't like throwing out food. But I figure if I pour it back in the bag, it will get mixed back in with the food that doesn't have ML on it. :rolleyes:

I really don't think that it comes in less than one pound bags, they have a five pound bag also available. I personally give my maltese less than the suggested amount as it affects her stools (makes it runny). So I really do not think you have much choice in size, either 1 lb or 5 lb. But I would start with the one pound and make sure your babies have no problems with it.

No, it comes in an 8oz bag as well.

Your not a dork. Missing Link is a suppliment you sprinkle on their food. It has Omega Fatty Acids in it that are good for the skin and coat. There is Missing Link and Missing Link Plus. The Plus also has glucosamine in it for maintaining healthy joints

Okay, now I get it, it is vitamins for skin and coat. So How old should your dog be to get it? Molly is six months. I feed her pro plan small breed puppy food. Does she need the missing link as well? When i was at petsmart the other a day I did see the 8oz bags. I read the back and understand what it is used for but it didn't state at what age it should be given. Does anyone know?

I don't mean to be critical but I'm not sure this is a good practice. Missing Link has to be refrigerated after opening the bag. Do you refrigerate your dry food that you're pouring it back into? :confused: I give ML to the boyz over about a tablespoon of soft food for breakfast...that way I know they're eating it.

I just got back from Petco and the 8oz bag of missing link plus was $19 and some change. The 16oz was $24.99.........unbelievable.:thumbdown I got mine off the internet for the 16oz/plus for $14.99 a bag plus shipping. It was the same price for shipping for one or two bags so I bought two. They are good until 2008. So even with the shipping it came out cheaper than at Petco. I have two dogs and I put some in with the morning food and some with the evening food and they eat out of separate bowls. I do cheat though. I buy shaved turkey and chicken at the Publix deli (boars head) and mix it (about a tablespoon full) with their dog food and the missing link. By feeding them twice a day, they gobble up the food and no waste. Also, I know that each of them is getting the amount they need. I may not be able to use the entire bag in three months but I'd rather throw it away then pay more for a smaller bag. Just do the math!!!

wow on the prices of ml..i just got back from petco and they had 2 bags of ml on sale from 22.99 to 5 bucks each, so I got them both, I remembered reading about it on yt so now I'm here to read more on it, I couldnt pass it up at that price.

What is the expiration date on the bags???? Hopefully they were not trying to rid themselves of "close to expiration date" stock so they could get some newer stuff in. Just remember, Once you open the bag, it is only good for 90 days and MUST be refrigerated.
