..My worst experience with the vet
 

:( I took my little Lillian to the vet today because her stitches from the spay seemed to be infected. So the vet takes her in a private room and closed the door on me! About 3 minutes later I hear her screaming in pain! I rushed into the room and the vets just standing there like nothing happened and she goes...yes? I went to look at my baby and she was bleeding and yelping. They had ripped her stitches out without putting her under anesthesia! They just yanked them out just like that! So I asked her to bandage her up atleast and she goes no..its best if you leave it open well if thats the case then why did she wrap her in a shirt before we left?!..If that wasn't enough...they wanted me to pay for the medicine! Then she scheduled me to come in a week later. YEAH RIGHT! I got mad and started complaining and of course I got kicked out :mad: At that point I was really angry and worried for her. So I took her to another vet..he was suprised when I told him waht they did to her. Then he put some gel on her cut and bandaged it. He also gave her a shot and some anti biotics. And instead of waiting a week he said to bring her in on monday.:( I hope shes okay

OMG how HORRIBLE

I hope shes feeling a little better tonight. Some vets (and human drs) have no compassion.

That is terrible!! Definitely no need to go back to that doctor again!! Hope your baby is all better soon.

The poor little thing...I glad you are changing vets...animals feel pain too. Although I have to say..I have never had an animal put under to have stitches removed...is this something they do for yorkies (I have only had mine for a little over 2 years...Sadie isn't spayed yet I will be bringing her soon..My vet is going to do the laser surgery on her...there are no stitches with that.

I hope your little furball is feeling better soon!

OMG what a dreadful shock for you and your baby, how can a vet do that? Then stand there like nothing has happened. I would of gone MAD.

I would of refused to pay them anything and reported them.

They shouldn't be allowed to practice if this is the way they behave.

I wish your baby a very speedy recovery.

The stitches were in the inside not the outside they were supposed to dissolve internally. So I couldn't even see them from the outside just looking at her. There was just a little bit that was sticking out from under her skin so I can imagine why she was crying.

They dont put the dogs under to remove the stitches but if they were infected I could see them causing alot of pain

I thought vets were supposed to care for their patients, not harm them. That's just awful. I'm sorry you and your furbaby had to eexperience that!!

That's no vet! It's that kind of so-called "vet" that makes our babies afraid to go when they need to. It's not right to treat a pet or their parent like that. A vet is a vet because the love animals and want to make them better - not hurt them or yell at them or their parents. That is just plain disgusting! I'm sorry you and Lillian were treated like that and I'm glad the new vet was much more compassionate and concerned. He sounds like a good vet that cares about his patients. I hope Lillian starts feeling better soon.

A lot of people say I'm a b#^%h, and I politely thank them. In this case, I volunteer to cut open his privates, sew them up and come back a week later to rip out the stitches. Anesthesia, he don't need to stinkin' anesthesia; after all, he's a big he man, he can take it. It may not make your baby feel better, but I'll bet you darned sure would.

She wanted me to bring her back so she could put her under anesthesia to remove the rest of them cause she was in pain when they removed the first set. Thats why I was thinking that she did.

OMG POOR Thing ! That's horrible and infected stitches HURTS ! and hurts bad - they should have numbed the spot at the very least - I would have gone ballistic too and you had every right to get mad - that's just MEAN and lazy on the vets part.

Sending her lots of get well wishes and a hug...that really sucked.

what a brave girl if she ever walks on her own into any vets office again - that really made me cringe...:(

:confused: are you argueing with me? I told you they weren't stitches that can't be removed 123 they were internal dissolving stitches that you can barely see from the outside. Infact they weren't even supposed to be removed so I don't know why she did that in the first place.

lol...no she was being sarcastic and with very good intent - men would cry for a week if someone opened up their stitches like that - actually - they'd need 911 if they even saw blood.......let alone on their privates :eek: they'd just faint away..... and talk about it for the next 10 years -

HEAVEN'S NO I'M NOT ARGUING WITH YOU! I just think that vet needs a taste of his own medicine. I'm sorry if I didn't make myself clear. I meant cut the vet's privates open, etc.... Poor dear, you must have thought I was really awful.

hey - we sent your little Lilly a Rosette from dogster and hope she feels better.....maybe she needs some Vet Shaped Treats she can munch on when she gets better..... & bite REALLY hard sweetie !!

:rolleyes: Lilly thanks you for the Rosette. I read somewhere to put peroxide on the cut so she doesn't get infected? Should I try that or just go with the antibiotics? I'm scared to give her medicine:(

I've had lots of stitches - it it isnt an open wound then yes on peroxide - but if it's open ...it's best to use a saline solution - the vet can give you some or tell you what will be best for her - I would go with what they say ...

oh....not the first vet - the 2nd !! That qst vet sounds awfully coldhearted to do that and not think that wouldn't hurt her - he didn't have to do it that way....and how did they get infected in the first place - same vet ? It sounds like he did an all around bad surgery if that was his work ...we all can get infections - but dogs feel pain and he should have been extra careful and gentle with her.

I would follow the new vet's advice - if he gave you antibiotics to give her, then by all means, please give them to her. The antibiotic is to help fight the infection and help make her better. Cleaning it with peroxide won't hurt either but do give the meds - it's for Lillian's well being.

And I'm so sorry you had the ordeal you did with the other vet:( I don't blame you for being ticked off!!! I would have done the same thing. I'm very lucky - my vet is a guy I graduated high school with - we've been friends for 28 years.

Ok, that makes me SO ANGRY!!!! I'm glad I wasn't in that office because I probably would have gotten ARRESTED for punching that vet in the face!!!!!!! :mad: OMG I seriously would lose my marbles if a vet ever did something like that to Stedman!!! Or ANY of my dogs (or cat!) for that matter!!! :mad: :mad: :mad: Boy do I have some choice words for him.........which I will not choose to use right now!!!! :mad:

That really pisses me off. How could the vet do that to your baby! No wonder why they shut the door on you. What's wrong with people? :mad:

:mad: and she had this fake smile on too like oh i'm miss innocent over here! and when I asked to speak to the top vet they said that they would call..she leaves for 5 seconds and comes back like oh hes not home now...meanwhile the phone was right in front of her she uses the phone in the next room and she expects me to believe that a vet doesn't have a cell phone too!

I've never heard of anything like that in my life. I'm so, so sorry you had such a terrible experience. I'm equally sorry your little one had such a bad experience, because that is probably one that she'll never forget and it will very well cause her to be terribly fearful when going to the vet.

I'm inclined to think that their instruments were unclean when they did the spay. Otherwise, there should not have been any infection at all. I feel so bad for both of you. At least, though, you had the will to stand up to her and not let them treat your little one that way any more. A lot of people wouldn't have done that. So, kudos to you!

Well if you love your pet I don't see why you wouldn't stand up for them;)

Poor baby! I bet that hurt! Hugs to your little girl and hopes for a speedy recovery. Don't go back to that witch doctor...stay with the new one...at least for now.

Maddie had an infected stitch after her spaying, but the vet just gave her antibiotic and once that was cleared up, we went back to get the stitches out. I can imagine it would hurt something awful taking them out when they are infected and sore! I'm so sorry that happened to Lillian! Poor baby! Most vets, if they have to do something, don't leave the parent in another room...they do it while the parent is holding and soothing the pup. That's how it should have been for you! I'm so glad you found a new vet! Maddie and I send kisses to Lillian!
