This is just too sad - you should get a lawyer. My 5-month old Yorkie underwent an echocardiogram last Saturday - had to lie still for almost a half hour - and needed no sedation. The vet tech and I held her down on her side, and she even dozed off! Can't imagine why they would need to sedate your baby for grooming!! |
I am so sorry for your loss......I know the pain must be unbearable.....you've lost one of your family members and my heart goes out to you. I do all my grooming at home on my Yorkie and maltese and I keep them both long coated but it takes a lot of work. But just don't trust groomers. I took the Yorkie to a groomer once since I had him (six months). I just wanted his nails done and his ears at the top. Figured I would let them do it once and then I could keep them up. AND I asked before going if they knew "how" to do Yorkie ears. Well, they did a butcher job and I was glad when he did pee pee on their counter. I will never take either of them to a groomer. But if you did not give the groomer permission (perhaps you signed something or they have a sign up stating the sedate you did not see), he should have called and said he was having trouble and needed to sedate and let you make that decision. Again I am sorry for your loss. |

I am so sorry for your loss also. This is why neither of mine have ever been to a groomer. I've heard too many tales of horror and also scalping almost. But to the vet? I'm so sorry again for your loss. I dont know one thing about grooming when I got my first yorkie. But ive done the best I know how trimming their ears myself, may not be great job but at least I know their not sedated nor burned nor hacked up. Goodluck on getting something done about this. Sounds strange to me that they would have to sedate a dog for grooming yet, I dont know what to think. Looks like the vet would of known something wasnt right with its heart on examination if he/she has ever examined it him/herself and ran some test then. But all I can say is i'm sorry for your loss. |
I must be very lucky - I brought Sadie to groomer for first time a couple of weeks ago - told them exactly what I wanted done - just the ears, eyes, feet and nails, and around her little butt. They did a great job - she looks just adorable!!:p |
This is strange...sorry, I just cannot make up my mind what to think. By law I do not believe they can give your pet a sedative without your permission. Why would they do that anyways to do a regular grooming? I have heard of out of control dogs who have been taken to the vet and it be requested by the owner to give them a sedative so a grooming was possible. (just my opinion but that is in part many ownrs own fault for not training their pets) I would get a thrid party in there...something is very fishy. |
Oh my Gosh!!!!!!!! I am so sorry! I too would ask for anything you signed so you could look it over. You must have some type of legal say in this. Did they end up refunding your money? That would be so devestating....:( Again, I'm so sorry! You're in my prayers. Lauren & Dixie |
OMG... I dont think they could live your baby something without telling you and seeing if it was ok. He could of had an allergic reaction to it. I would take have another vet do the testing. This vet could tell you anything just to make sure it doesnt sound like there fault. Regardless they should never give your baby anything without your approval. I would diff. contact a lawyer. I'm really sorry for your loss. |
What an awful tragedy! I am so sorry for your loss. It's bad enough that groomers often hurt our babies, but a vet? They should know what they are doing and know the law requires a signature for any medications and this should be discussed with the owner first. Something is very, very wrong here. Please do a complete investigation and use whatever resources are at your disposal. This is a vet, for God's sake - his job is to know when something is wrong and to be able to save a life, not destroy it. I feel terrible for you, dragging this out is going to make your heartache that much worse. But you need to put your mind at ease by finding out what really happened before you can start healing. Sending prayers for you for to take care of the tasks that lie ahead and hugs to help you thru this time of pain. God Bless you and see that your little lost baby finds his way to the Rainbow Bridge safely. |
you'd think they were in good hands at the vet....i know you would have never expected this to happen how sad i am so sorry for you loss |
I'm soooo sorry for your loss. Thats just why I do my own grooming, sad as it may look sometimes! I'd definitely get an attorney, see what you can do. So sad to loose a baby when your just trying to make them look pretty. I'd went ballistic in there myself. Proud of you for not hurting someone, don't think I'd got through without hurting somone physically! |

My sentiments EXACTLY!!!! How horrible, I am so sorry for your baby and for you! I would report this immediately to the police! |
Im so sorry for your loss :( Did you fully read the contract you signed to have him groomed? Its so important to read what you are signing, it could of said something about a seditive in it and it should of stated the risks that come along with the seditive. Some little dogs just cant handle those things, there could of been underlying cause of why he didnt tolerate this medicine. One should always do bloodwork on your dog before you give them any kind of seditive, to make sure everything is working right inside. A popular seditive Acepromezine some little yorkies cant handle and can make their heartrate drop down to almost nothing. I would personally have a different vet do the necropsy, one who isnt connected with his passing. I see alot of people posting bad things about groomers and some of the stuff I read is shocking. I can never imagine treating someones dog so bad. Just yesterday alone I had to yorkie people tell me that they just cant seem to find a good yorkie groomer. |
consult a lawyer to see what your options are. |
OMG I am getting ready to take classes on Pet Grooming. I WILL NEVER GIVE ANYONE PET A SEDATIVE (I promise).. If the dog can not be groomed without one... than I hope I can come up with another way.. I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS.. Very very sorry :( |
