Questions on wearing clothes I have a couple questions: 1) is it safe to let your baby sleep in clothes? (t shirts/ jammies) 2) does your baby wear clothes all day, even when he's not in your sight? I guess my concerns are their arms getting stuck and what not. I'd like to keep mine dressed for the winter months and up till now I haven't dressed them. (I'm having a super time shopping too!) Thanks for any pointers you can give in advance :) |
Well, Stedman wears clothes 99% of the time. I prefer them, and believe it or not, so does he! lol :p He gets mad and barks if he doesn't have clothes on  He will actually go to the little cubby that I keep his clothes in and just stand there and bark until I put a shirt on him  I used to let him sleep in clothes, and still do, SOMETIMES... however, my hubby doesn't like me to let him wear clothes to bed because one night when he jumped off the bed in the middle of the night (which is totally normal for Stedman lol), I guess hubby and I were SOUND asleep and didn't hear him barking to get back up (we usually ALWAYS hear him) and so all night long he was stuck down laying by the side of the bed, and his poor little arm was stuck inside his t-shirt and we did not know it!!!! :( Hubby found him in the morning and I got an @$$ chewing for it, LOL  So anyway, every once in a while he will wear them to bed, if I just totally forget to take the clothes off him, but usually, no...we don't let him anymore. |
lexi hates clothes of all kinds, but i do put them on her, it stays on for about an hour and off it comes... she rubs against the wall trying to get them off.... |
I don't keep them on my girls much. They do get their arms stuck alot. Usually I put them on when we go outside (when it's cold) or when we go out to Petsmart, etc. They don't mind them at all. I try not to put them on Dixie as much because she's growing her show coat, and her breeder told me it breaks the hairs. :( |
I only put clothes on Gage when it's cold (due to his not growing an undercoat) - and then only at night or when he goes outside. In the summer, I put a t-shirt on him when he goes out to keep him from getting sunburned (it's either that or greasy sunscreen!). Gabby, on the other hand, prefers the "natural" look:) |
I dress Jewels up. I dont dress Chachi that often but I got him some new harness vests so I will be. I dont have pajamas yet to know how they do in those |
My furkids do not like wearing clothes of any kind so I only dress my kids up for extra special occasions. They feel so strongly about NOT wearing clothes that they get all pouty faced when I try to use them as models for the items I make. :D |
Gracie likes to wear clothes but she doesnt wear them all the time just every once and a while |
I can't even get Little Bit to wear a bow so no clothes here at all:) |
Last fall/winter/early spring, our Magic had a harness or baby shirt on all the time - even at night - as she stays cold. Right now with it still warm they only dress up to go out or for something special. Sailor prefers to be "natural" but Magic does not mind and knows if she is dressed she gets to go with us in the car! |

I don't understand about Gage not having an undercoat. Yorkies don't have an undercoat. |
I dress Ginger every day for work to keep her coat clean ‘til Friday's bath. I’d rather not though, ‘cause if the clothes are too tight her hair can mat underneath…plus I think she looks pretty cute in her birthday suit. But as far as her getting her arms stuck…that’s never been an issue. |
both mine prefer to be "naked" so the only time they wear a harness is if they are going for a walk, which is a daily routine for both. I don't know if you can call belly bands clothing, but Tiger does in the evenings and this is because it is MY choice to do so, not him  |
I dont dress Louie and Bella every day, but almost! But I do take their cloths off of them when I have to leave the house and they are alone in their cages, because I am just too afraid that they might get caught up someohow and strangle themselves or something. Or if their little paw got stuck in the arm hole and they choked themselves trying to get free. They have worn their cloths to bed but not much because I am afraid of the little paws getting stuck. So basically they just wear themwhen they are with me and I can watch them. :p |
Roxy wears clothes half the time and if it's cold, she has a pair of pink insulated underwear pj's with a drop seat that are adorable that she sleeps in. She can get out of them if she wants to, but if it's cold, she keeps them on. I think her preference is to always be nakkie. But us grown-ups like to dress her up.:D |
I put clothes on Shadow most of the time. He even wears PJ's to bed at night. With it getting colder here, he will be in clothes a lot. He LOVES getting dressed. He just lays there until he is all dressed and ready to go.:p If we are going out and not taking him tho, I take his clothes off in case he gets caught somehow. I worry about that. Sometimes if we are not going anywhere and just staying home, I leave him go "naked" LOL he likes it either way! :aimeeyork |

Or shall I say how did you get then used to clothes, I bought Ty his first T shirt and as with everything its a fight to get it on him.,....along with the leash, brushing, harness.....etc, you get the point , he is only 11 weeks so I am trying to start early, when is it time to just throw in the towel and move into the acceptance stage of I got a puppy who doesnt wnat to wear his cute ringer tees................THANKS CHRISTINE and TY:animal36 |
Dayzee hates clothes--she thinks she's in trouble. Bailey likes to wear t-shirts. Itzi wears sweaters and t-shirts when he is cold. Abbi is my princess; she loves to wear clothes especially dresses. I will take some new pics soon as she just got some new dresses from a special YTer. |
Lillie does not wear clothes at night, but I have been playing with a pattern for a night gown, I think with winter coming up, it gets more cold and she would be warmer. I just bought some light weight fleesse of hello kitty and I'm going to try to make her one. I dress her when we go out, but only dress her at home about 50% of the time |
Emma wears clothes 50% of the time. I can't help but dress her up in her "Flirt" shirt when we go to a party (with other puppies, of course), and she wears her Gap hoodies a lot because it's getting cold! She has also been wearing onesies as pajamas since her spay (a couple weeks ago), but she likes them so much we keep putting her in them at night. When we leave her during the day, sometimes we forget or are too lazy :) to take them off, but we DO make sure to unbutton the bottom part so she can potty on her own throughout the day. She will actually go and get her own onesie in the evening if there's one left out! My family and friends think I'm crazy for putting her in baby clothes-but they're so convenient and so cheap-why not? |

How cute! Do you have pictures??? :D |
4 Attachment(s) Tinkerbell is not too crazy about clothes although she wears them 99.99% of the time, she doesn't take them off but sometimes if she is not in the mood she will give me a hard time putting them on. She puts her little paws up and shows her teeth and fights the clothes, she is super cute:D Here is a pic to prove it!! |
we live in a 110 yr old victorian home. it's very drafty. romeo wears a t-shirt or sweatshirt inside when it's cold out. he sleeps in them too. in our case it's a neccesity. our home has no insulation and he would freeze. when we go outside i put a coat on top. when the weather is nice he is nude.:) |
Gus wears cloths pretty much all the time in the winter months. I do not let him wear pj's, sweaters, or t-shirts to bed. He sleeps in a inclosed crate with a very warm blanket. But when we get up in the morning. I will put a nice warm sweater before we go out to do potty. |

You can also try http://www.lovelonglong.com. There are some cute things on that site (takes a bit to find the good stuff) and they'll post anywhere internationally quite cheaply. I got them to send stuff to NZ. |

For the girls try putting a regular harness over the clothing so they don\'t pull in their arms. See how that works for you. :D |
