Tootie is soooo vocal, he talks to me alot. I have managed to figure out his different noises and what is going on with him... it will take time but you will figure it out. Maybe he is not feeling well? |
I too think it's Yorkie "communication". I have never seen an animal that tries so hard to talk .... expecially one who rarely barks like Toto! She usually tries to speak in a tiny little voice and we have learned what she wants. If we don't immediately respond to her little voice, she has a low bark and if that doesn't work, she uses her big voice! :p She does it if we are not "on time" with her meals, her after dinner treat, if she has a pee pee spot or a poop on her pad [she refuses to use a soiled pad], if she wants to play, if she is cold and sometimes she just wants someone to sit down and snuggle her! :) We were puzzled too when she first began to do this and things are sooooo much better since we began to understand her. Good luck! ;) |

2 yr old barking Yorkie My Chloe is over 2 yrs old and she barks at me constantly...I think she just wants my attention, but can't give her 24/7 attention. Her bark goes straight to my last nerve... A lot of people say it's just her breed.:aimeeyork |

I cannot get her to stop and when she's kenneled, it's a very aggressive type bark. Has anyone tried the new Thunder coat? It's supposed to help dogs deal with anxiety, barking, separation anxiety...basically a weighted vest. |

Your little one is definitely trying to tell you something. Brandi is not a barker unless she wants something. Hopefully you will figure it out. Good luck. |
I think Yorkies are very expressive in what they want. Pao talks a lot usually communicating what he wants. He'll bark at something and ends it with a whine that means he needs help to get something or remove it. He will also remind you with barks if you forget to give him a treat for going potty. Also, if you are too tired to play with him after work, he'll remind you by barking at a certain toy he wants to play with with you. |
My Little Matisse barks at me as if he is talking ;) He barks when he knows its time for his food and when he wants to be picked up and put down. |

My baby goes potty in the powder room when we don't get her out in time :o Yorkies are extremely intelligent and vocal. I agree with everyone that he is trying to tell you something. Kinda like a baby or young child that understands what they are saying, but it's up to you to figure it out. You mentioned that you put him in his crate for 'time-out'. I'm trying to help here, not criticize, so please understand my intentions. That said, their crates should be their safe havens, castles, homes and very special places - try not to put him there as a form of correction or criticism. |

Mine go absolutely bark crazed bonkers when they are hungry!! They know when its time to be fed and if you miss it, all Hell breaks lose. And if they get cheated in portion size they expect to be fed early to make up for it. It is when I dont give into their demands when things get crazy! Same thing when they need to go potty !! Quote:
But you can still teach her to not bark so much. Start NOw while she is young !! |
Reading about everyone's lil ones barking .. i was trying to figure out why does mine bark .. One bark i know.. i leave him in the kitchen and go to the rest of the house and he tries to brake free from the baby gate .. originally i had a small gate which he figured out to climb up and be free.. when he does that.. it was almost impossible for me to catch him.. ha ha ha but now we have the bigger gate and he cannot climb this one so he keeps on barking and barking until i am near the gate and he tries to attack me :( i am a very unfortunate mother who is almost attaked by her 3 month old puppy each time she goes out of the kitchen... And another barking i have no idea.. why he does that.. one minute he is playing around and the next he comes to me with full force and try to nibble my fingers, and others he will bark and bark at me.. when i try to pick him up he runs away from me.. he is really good with potty and all that sorts, its not the food either since i always keep his place clean and ready since i am alway at home.. but with his constant barking at me and nipping at me kindda hurts my feeling... makes me wonder if he doesn't love me i also noticed his pee smelled changed from yesterday and also i also notice that he started get some changes in his male area :) i wonder if its his hormonal changes? My husband thinks i am too sensative and takes everything personally but all i have is Sano (my lil one) and me at home 24/7 and my husband only come home every 15 or so day so it does hurts when you love someone so much |
I am sure he loves you if he barks when you leave that is showing you he doesn't want you out of his sight:) The nipping and biting is normal he's a puppy Georgie did the same thing. Tell him no give him his toy to bite. As far as backing away when you pick him up it's nice to know I am not alone Georgie is 7 and still does it! Believe me he loves you one day when he wont let you go potty alone you will think back to when you wondered if he loved you. |
