Hi everyone,

Tomorrow's the day - Howie gets neutered. I'm pretty calm so far. I know I'll be more nervous tomorrow. My question for all of you is how should I transport him home? Normally when we travel in the car I have one of those harnesses that strap through the seat belt. I don't think that will work after his surgery b/c I don't want to anything to rub against his stitches. I have a carrier bag for him with mesh sides.. should I just put his blankie in there?? It's not that big.

I appreciate your thoughts!

I would use the carrier just make sure the blanket is a fabric that won't stick to his stitches, maybe a towel would be better??? or get someone to go with you so you can just hold him. Prayers and well wishes for a quick recovery Howie!

Aww thanks everyone.. He's at the vet now and I'm kind of a nervous wreck!! I'm cleaning to try to distract myself!

A soft blanket in the carrier should be fine. Thinking good thoughts for a safe surgery.

Just kidding! I'm sure that he'll be fine. I know how you feel. It's definitely a normal feeling. I hope the day goes fast for you. At this rate, your house will be spotless.

He's home now!! And his surgery went fine. The vet said he was so good for them. He's laying next to me on the couch right now whimpering. It's so sad - he's never whimpered before. Poor baby. I brought out some shredded chicken and he ate that right up and had a bowel movement, so that's good! The only thing I can't get him to do is drink water. Any suggestions??

Great! You could give him some water in a syringe or dropper.

The syringe idea is good or try chicken broth Low sodium. Sometimes the anesthesia makes them a little nauseous so I wouldn't overdue the liquids on the first day. Did the vet send you home with some pain med? If not, I would call and go pick some up.
