Undercover Yorkie? Or Not? A survey... Just wondering what the rest of your Yorkie's prefer. Oscar sleeps with us (as I am sure most our your spoiled babies do!) and he sleeps on top of the covers...it does not matter how cold the room is, he won't sleep under the covers. We sleep with a fan and in a cool room. He curls up next to me, but won't have any part of being under the covers. I have had Chihuahua's that loved being under the cover, but not Oscar! Tia prefers to be out of the covers - Sandy has to be UNDER the covers, all the way down by our feet. Cracks me up. |
Maggie ALWAYS starts the night curled into my side under the blanket. If I'm covered up first, she paws the blanket down so she can get into "her position". Generally, sometime during the night, on all but the coldest nights of this past winter, she crawls out and makes herself up a very nice nest on top of the duvet. (We sleep under a down comforter which is in a duvet cover. Yorkies LOVE down as they can fluff it up into a quite satisfactory nest.) |
I Kai prefers to sleep w/us but I wish she would not!!! She starts out under the covers at the bottom of the bed , But always some how some time at night I wake up with her on top of the covers laying on my neck...or some times my head!!! WHY O WHY must she lay on my head? He dad is right next to me can't she lay on his head? The worst part is waking up to her licking her hind end ON MY HEAD!!! EWWWWW |
Hefner starts out in bed with us, usually on top of the covers. Sometimes he will go to his bed during the night. he really likes his bed. In the mornign he likes to lounge and be covered with just his head out. Chai likes to be under the covers and up by our heads. |

Tucker sleeps in his bed next to our bed (we'll bring him in the bed with us eventually, but he's too small now - I'm afraid we'll roll over on him or he'll fall off). Biddy on the other hand - no she doesn't sleep in our bed - no no we sleep in her bed! She is all over the place - under the covers, on top of the covers, down by our feet, laying across our bodies, in between us, etc. We just sort of find a place to get comfortable around her! |
Stewie sleeps both ways. He sometimes is all the way covered including his head and other times he's on top of the duvet. He does LOVE sleeping on top of the heating vent on the floor when it's blowing. He looks so cute and cannot be pried away from it for anything! |

Everynight she crawls in her bed and lays her head on her tiny pillow and we have to tuck her in. She sleeps with a small pink blanket covering her that my mom made for her, a pink bunny, and her binky. here are some pics |
Mia starts the night undercovers, sometimes moves around, but if I get up to potty or anything, she must again go under. She curls up by my stomach or under my chin with her head on my arm. DH insists that she will die being under the covers and wont' have enough oxygen. NOT! Oh well.,,,,, |
Since I've let Maddie sleep in the bed, she always sleeps on top of the covers, but likes to snuggle up to me! I would think they'd like to be covered, but not Maddie! Lexi's Mom...Lexi looks adorable in her bed...and that blanket your mom made her is the cutest! |
First of all, Lexi's Mommy! OMG that is the sweetest thing I have seen in a long, long time! Oh Gosh it is so darling! Now, to the question: Snoodles first goes to sleep in her crate. Then about 3 or 330, she whines to go potty---I get uop and take her out, and then she is in bed with me. First she sleeps behind my knees, (after licking them) but later she will climb up and sleep nest to my chest. But she likes to be covered! She use to sleep all night in the crate, abut one night she woke uop to go potty and I let her come to bed with me, and Guess WHat? now it is every night! How we spoil our babies! Pat |

Gucci's bed is by the side of our bed. She has a blanket on her bed. Sometimes she is on top of her blanket and others she is cover. Lately she is being sleeping with us in the middle. Sometimes she is covers and others she is not. Too funny. :rolleyes: |

Lexi use to always suck her binky, now only every once in awhile we'll hear her sucking on it in the middle of the night, She mostly just likes to carry it and hold it in her mouth. Cairo usually starts on top of the blankets, then she scratches my arm right after I haver fallen asleep to let me know that she wants under the covers, then she wants on top of the covers..... Well I'm sure that you know how this goes. She is WAY too spoiled :) PS - Lexi's Mom, I'm so glad sombody elses pup uses a pacifier. My husbands minpin started to use one at christmas after my friend with her year old daughter stayed with us and kept leaving them on the floor. :D |
3 Attachment(s) On Violeta it depends... sometimes she likes to go undercover and sometimes she feels like being independent BUT still in our bed, NEVER out of our bed. I love having her sleep with us and she is so used to it that after her playing right before going to sleep she goes to her spot wich is just between our pillows on top of the bed, really close to our heads. But I really enjoy it. And she wont wake up until we do... if its on the weekend wich we usually get out of bed pretty late she will sleep just like us!! :p Here are some pictures of undercover Violet!!! :cool: |
Thanks everyone for contributing to this. I was just wondering and it seems that our Yorkies prefer both! Let me just say too that Lexi has to be the sweetest, cutest and "spoildest" (Yes Mr. Webster...we have a new word!) Yorkie on this planet. That binkie beats all and Lexi certainly takes the cake for cute! Oscar I guess will always be a top of the cover Yorkie...he has of late been getting sweeter and wanting to snuggle when he gets tired...that is a switch...he is usually mean as all get out! Darling Chichi! My whole reason for putting Snoodles in her cage at night (at least until three in the morning) is in case I have to leave her somewhere she will have her own place that she is used to. Also, I'm not sure when we go on vacation that our relatives will let me put her in my bed. However, I think she would sleep all night if she was there from the start. I get uop once a night to potty, what does yours do then? I am afraid she will decide it is morning!-----Pat |
I laughed so hard at that last pic of Lexi with the binky that I almost started to choke! That is the cutest thing EVER!!!! As for sleeping, both of mine are burrowers. |
Lexi is SO adorable! so cute and those pictures ahhh! too cute for words! Oreo and Ginger used to sleep on our beds until Ginger peed on our bed twice! :eek: .. but now they sleep on our bed sometimes. they have learned to jump down to their pad to go to the bathroom (my bed isn't high at all) |
Hello Trish from a fellow Brit. My Jack starts between the pillows, moves to the bottom of the bed, on top of the covers, but ends up between us. He will only go under the covers when he wants to play. |
Bailey is always ONTOP of the covers, he looses it when I try to cover him! :mad: |
Dear Pat... Well... I always wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom myself, Right before I go I get Violeta put her in her pad she inmediatly potties (sorry if my grammar is not to good, I'm Venezuelan) put her beck in the bed and the I go... She waits for me to come back and cuddles with me. And as for living her with relatives I think if I had to I'd leave her with people that I know (because they love her) will sleep with her. It's amazing but ever since everybody met Violeta loves her and wants to be with her or babysit her.... She is too adorable. |
Lexi is adorable! I love all that pink, and the binky too cute!! Missy would such on a pacifier when we 1st got her but she doenst have anything to do with it anymore. Max on the other hand loves to walk around with it, he starts out sucking on it and ends up laying down chewing on it. Ok.. back to the subject, Missy loves to sleep under blankets right next to my chest or side and Max loves to sleep on top of the blankets near my knees. |
