HELP! Yorkie got spayed and now throwing up alot! Hi everyone, my baby girl Pia was spayed yesterday. Now she is home and can't seem to keep her food down. She has thrown everything back up and now she won't eat anything. I'm not sure if they sometimes get this way but I don't remember my Trixie ever throwing up. Pia is 1 yr. 6 mths old. Maybe little older ones take it harder??? Just a thought. She's only 1 lb. 10 oz. and this is making me even more nervous. I don't know if I should take her to the vet immediately or give it a little time. Being so little I feel like I don't have the time to wait. I appreciate any thoughts on this. Thank you :aimeeyork |
Why don't you call the vet to see if they should see her. |

I agree - call your vet. Maybe because of her size, the anesthesia affected her differently than it did your other one but - play it safe and call. If nothing else, you'll feel better hearing from them on what you need to do, if this is "normal" (because of her size) or if you need to get her back in. Please keep us posted! Suzi |
Well then relax mom hope she gets to feeling better soon poor little thing. |
Thank you! |
Poor baby. I would keep in contact with your Vet and just keep an eye on her |
oh the poor little girl....I agree with everyone...speak to the vet...I hope she's feeling better soon |
Hope she's better, I would keep a close watch on her and take her in if not better real soon. She is so tiny and I wouldn't want to take any chances. Keep us posted |
Anethesia will make them very nauseous. Thats why they ask you not to give food or water after 10 pm the night before surgery. Just make sure she stays hydrated, you can give her some pedialyte with a syringe if she won't drink it. Keep in contact with your vet, and I'm sure she will get past it soon. I know when I was put to sleep to have minor surgery once, I was violently sick for two days post surgery. Ugggg, I'll never forget THAT. Hope your girl recovers soon. Best wishes! |
Oh no, please keep us posted. I will be praying for her! |
How is your baby doing? I'm sure it is just a reaction to the anesthesia, but the vet can prescribe something for nausea. Her weight is the main reason I would be concerned. Did they do the preop blood tests showing all was healthy with her liver? |
Hi everyone and thanks for all the nice comments. A few of you asked a few questions so here I go. She didn't eat after 9pm and yes she had the blood work before the surgery. A little while ago the diarrhea started and that was enough for me. I just got back from the vet about an hour ago. She was given a shot for her dehydration and also something to stop the diarrhea. They also gave me some medicine. The vet said to keep an eye on her but when the dirhhea began I just took her right in and didn't even call. When their not even 2 lbs. no need to wait and end up being sorry. Poor little P.P. (short for Princess Pia) is just miserable. Hope all the stuff helps or I'll be back in there tomorrow. Thanks again for all the nice comments. I'll keep you posted. :aimeeyork |
