I hope Reco gets well enough to come home tomorrow. Sorry for your bad luckwith shelter dogs. Things like that are the reason people are reluctant to adopt from shelters. They screen us like were some sort of monster, but they themselves are not acting responsibly in the best interest of the dog.

Giardia usually responds well to antibiotics, in fact yours is the first I've heard of being hospitalized for it. I'm sorry that your vet won't let you visit. I know it is probably disruptive to their schedule, but they could at least set aside a visitation period. Giardia is contagious to other dogs so be on the look out for any anorexia or diarrhea with any others you have. It can also be passed to humans so exercise good hygiene and wash your hands frequently.

Yes so ive heard...but yea i wish i could at least see him..but i understand...and i was reading about giardia and that it is contagious...i dont have any other animals..but we are exercising good hygiene..thanks for the advice!

yea and thats why i said i would never ever ever adopt from a shelter ever again..cause my keen lowie was a sweetheart and didnt deserve what happen to him!

Well, now they know what it is and the little guy will be treated for it, so hopefully he'll be better soon. He's just so little that he needs to be in the hospital now and we'll pray he'll be all better soon so he can come home to mommy.:D

I know that it was hard for you to go through what you did with Lowie but could you take comfort in the fact that you made his last days easier. Wouldn't you have hated for him to spend his last days in the shelter with no one to love him (or probably get him treatment either)?

We all take a risk when we love but the alternative is always worse. I hope that people will continue to reach out & rescue these poor dogs for however little time they have left.

yea i mean its hard cause lowie was a sweetheart..and i know i made his last days eaiser.....but im so scared for my reco!

My thoughts go out to you.You dont deserve what is happening to you but Im sure reco will get better and when the vet says it is okay I would go and spend as much time as possible with him while he is there.I would definitly look for another vet when all this is over,you need a really caring one that will explain everything to you.Take care and we are all thinking of you.

I will pray Reco has a full recovery. Please, before he comes home, disinfect and clean everything Lowie came into contact with. I feel like typing that in big letters so you will notice it. I feel it is a necessity. Looking forward to a positive update:) .

oh yea we already did that before reco got here..but i will do it again before he comes baclk home

OK EVERYONE...TODAY WAS THE DAY THAT RECO WAS SUPPOSE TO COME HOME..RIGHT?!?! WELL HE'S NOT..AS A MATTER OF FACT HE'S NEVER COMING HOME... :cry: HE IS STILL NOT DOING WELL...THE BREEDER I GOT HIM FROM CALLED ME THIS MORNING AND TOLD ME HE WAS REALLY SORRY AND HE WILL REPLACE HIM WITH ANY YORKIE OF MY CHOICE OUT OF THE NEW LITTER NEXT WED. :) BUT I WASNT SURE WHAT TO TELL HIM BECAUSE I REALLY WANTED MY RECO BACK...WHAT SHOULD I DO??:confused: IF I DO GET ANOTHER ONE I THINK I WANT A GIRL..BECAUSE I JUST LOST LOWIE(BOY) AND RECO (BOY) IM SCARED TO GET ANOTHER BOY...TODAY IM JUST TOO THROUGH ALL I WANTED WAS MY LITTLE YORKIE..AND I LOST HIM IN ONLY A FEW DAYS...IM SO UPSET YET KIND OF RELIEVED IN A WAY...CAUSE I KNOW THAT RECO'S SUFFERING WILL COME TO A END...:angel2dl: :angelyork :angelyork :hands: RECO YOU WILL BE MISSED...MOMMY LOVES YOU AND UR ALWAYS IN MY :love: MY :littleang

WELL THE VET AND THE BREEDER SAID THAT WHY WERE GOING TO DO EVERYTHING TO TRY AND GET HIM BETTER....BUT TO ME THE BREEDER WAS SO QUICK TO WANT TO REPLACE HIM...IT SEEMS AS IF HE WAS GOING TO PUT HIM TO SLEEP..HE IS SUPPOSE TO CALL ME BUT I WILL LET U KNOW WHAT IS REALLY GOING TO HAPPEN TO HIM...

I am so sorry! Is the breeder saying this because he does not want to incur the expenses to get Reco well and is putting him to sleep? Can hReco be treated, I thought he was getting better. If you can afford the treatment to get him better maybe you could tell the Breeder to refund your money and you keep Reco and get him better. It is so sad this is happening to you. Good luck with whatever you decide.

NO HE SAID MONEY IS NOT AN ISSUE HE WAS SAYING CAUSE RECO COULD BE IN THE HOSPTIAL FOR MONTHS AND MONTHS...BASICALLY THEY TREATED HIM FOR THE GIARDIA HE HAD...BUT NOW HES NOT EATING AND THEY TRIED TO FORCE FEED HIM BUT HE SPITS IT OUT..BASICALLY THE BREEDER IS SAYING HE IS GOIN TO TRY BUT ITS NOT FOR SURE..THAT HE IS GOING T SURVIVE BECAUSE HE WONT EAT OR DRINK..AND HE IS NOT ABLE TO WALK...SO I CANT AFFORD TO PAY THAT...THATS WHY THE BREEDER TOLD ME I WOULDNT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT A VET BILL....BUT THE DOCTOR ALSO TOLD ME THAT EVEN IF HE DOES GET BETTER HE WONT BE ABLE TO GO HOME...HE IS SO WEAK TO THE POINT WERE HE MIGHT NOT MAKE IT....THE BREEDER WANTS TO SAVE HIM FOR ME BUT HE SAID ALL HE CAN DO IS TRY AND IF HES NOT BETTER BY WED. TO COME DOWN AND GET THE FIRST PIC...THE PUPS ARE BORN ALREADY...ITS JUST THAT NOBODY ELESE HAS SEEN NOR BOUGHT ONE..SO ILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS.....

Well lets pray that Reco makes a recovery, but if he isnt going to get better than its best hes put down to put him out of his pain and suffering. Poor baby boy..

God bless you for all you've been through, I just can't imagine. I know you're hearbroken, and I would be too. Lowie and Reco were so lucky to have you as a mom, even if for such a short time. I know it's difficult, but just think, Reco will not suffer any more if that's the decision you make. If he is curable, then I would go for it, but only you can decide. We're all here for you, either way.

It sounds like the breeder is very responsible. I hope Reco can make it but it would be very difficult to take on a very sick puppy emotionally and financially. I feel so bad you have to go through this heartbreak again. Prayers for you and Reco.

Where will Reco go? Back to the breeder? Or the vet's going to put him to sleep? I'm just a little confused....

ohhh honey, reco and you have my prayers. I sure hope he gets well real soon and he is home in no time giving you yorkie kisses! I know the Lord will watch over him, he will keep your baby boy safe. Hugs to you both.
