I said HEALTHY. There has to be some care that goes into picking a HEALTHY puppy. But certainly breeders are not the ONLY place you can buy HEALTHY puppies.

I dont understand why anyone would purchase a yorkie from a broker. They pay alot of money for a dog they know nothing about. And I dont show but I still want the best quality yorkie for my money who wouldnt?

Well I don't know where other dogs come from but MY DOG didn't come from a Mill and she IS an excellent example of the breed AND I got her from a broker!! I know who the parents are and if need be I have the papers to register her AKC but since I'm not breeding her I see no need to do that! I have a Healthy Beautiful Dog which I got from a Broker and I wouldn't change that for the world!

On their "About Us" page, it states:

Ours is a family business. You will either hear from Susan (Nana to the Pups) or Shannon. We are mother and daughter and business partners. We recently took on a new partner. Her name is Jessica and she will be running our retail store and grooming salon. Our new home is presently under renovation and we will be opening soon. Al (Poppy) lends a hand when needed. When Poppy watches Tv, a pup always sits on his shoulder. Everyone gets a turn watching TV with Poppy. Our pups are raised underfoot and properly spoiled. Whether they are born to us or from one of our breeders, they spend sufficient time with us before being offered to new families. Every one of our breeders has been personally visited (including our Brazilian breeders). We do not receive puppies from breeders we have not visited. Our pups come pre-mauled by our granddaughter Maggie Mae. Many have been stuffed in a doll stroller, dressed in doggy clothes and carted around like all treasured pups should be, but of course with the utmost of care. When you enter our house, you are informed of the "Everybody holds a puppy rule". Our pups are not handled by anyone except us until they have had at least 2 puppy shots. Ours is not a pet store so our pups are not looked at casually. They are shown by appointment only and the number of people kept to a minimum. We ask each person who visits us to please not visit a breeder or pet store prior to coming to see our pups.

Years and years ago we had shelties We used these shelties for running sheep. These were working dogs and usually if you had a good herder then you could expect some good herders out of the parents. 3 of our top workers were set to retire in 3-4 years so we decided a planned breeding would yield us the replacements we needed. We did the breeding and got a litter of 6 only 2 proved to be of the working calider of thier parents the other 4 were great examples of the breed but being jsut pups it was unclear as to whether they would be great conformationally . We sold 1 immediately but were set to move sheep and did not want momma worrying about the other 3.. through word of mouth a lady called us wanting a pup for breeding to her female in later years, She claimed ot be a herder herself and worked in trials. We agreed to sell her a pup. She came and decided on the remaining 3 instead. We were asking dirt cheap prices and offered their papers. 1 was limited but the 2 males that were great representatives we gave full with breeding rights.
Months go buy and I email her she tells me how they are doing etc. finally almost a year later a lady calls me mad and upset because I sold her a sheltie that was guaranteed to be a mini ( no, I never guarantee size these were breed standard size) We got to talking and it wasnt I who she bought a pup from. The broker cam bought up all of my pups and marked them all up.The ladt was PISSED as I would have been. I explained to her my situation and she decided to call her. I finally got in touch with her and found out she has about 20 different phone numbers all for different breeds of dogs.She cant even keep them straight. I sold her 2 papered males and 1 with limited. I got a call from AKC about a lady who acquired a male from the same lady . She was provided papers but she had altered the papers to say it was a female.Luckily I had tons of picture, bills of sal and copies of their AKC papers to help the AKC catch her. SHe is still inbusiness but I felt so bad for my babies. I do know where 2 of them are, The one lady thought she was getting a chihuahua sized sheltie! That was the one I felt bad for and I eventually bought him back from her. SInce she did not like him becasue he was nto going to be an odd sized sheltie but an actual standard sheltie. I rehomed him for no money and we dont have sheep anymore. Our oldest jsut passed on at 14.
They are tricky buggars though.

I have to say even Jeff Dane sounds like a wonderful caring breeder on his site and too many have all seen that he is anything but.

I am not saying this about the breeder mentioned in this thread, just that caring, fancy words on a website can be done by anyone, good and bad.

I love your puppy. She's cuter than cute. But I would never, ever, in a million years buy a pup from these people or any broker. I wouldn't criticize you for doing so. I live in the midwest. It wouldn't surprise me at all to find out that some of those dogs in their business came from the midwest. There are a lot of mills in KS/OK/MO/AR and they sell to brokers and pet stores. It gives me the creeps, because I've seen horrible pictures and read horrible stories about them. That's all. That is just how I feel. And now the Amish are starting to move in here and they raise puppies, too. But to them they are just another "crop". The USDA was just here inspecting them. As if that means anything! Every puppy that comes from a mill isn't sick, nor does it have genetic problems, but my heart couldn't take getting one that did.:(

Tru! This is why you do your research. I didn't just go to her site and say ok i'm buying a pup from her. I called her emailed back and forth and got TONS of references. She even gave me her vets number without me even asking. If I could not have gotten all of this I definetly would not have bought a dog from her.

Matter of fact she was referred to me by somebody off here!

I breed Yorkies, have litters on occasion, hoping for that next show dog. I train and show them myself. I do sell a pup that isn\'t a show dog for a pet to approved homes only.
I don\'t use my dogs as a business, I work for my living, my dogs do not keep me, I keep my dogs and pay for their needs out of my earnings.
The money I get from the odd sale of a pup, goes into paying a very small portion of their keep and Vet bills. The rest comes from me.
I would never expect my dogs to pay for themselves nor do I expect them to pay my way in this world. As an adult, that is my responsibility not theirs.
