Heating pad isn't really needed, just keep him out of any possible drafts. Ears are not normally up at 6 weeks .... I think my boys started to come up around 14 - 16 weeks. And as others have said, 6 weeks is way too young to of left the mother, the minim should be 8 weeks, I personally would prefer 12 weeks. Nutical (there is a similar product called Suplical, which I got from my vet) is a high sugar paste with additional vitamins. Your vet or local pet store should be able to help. Don't give your dog too much, watch what he eats and perhaps put a tiny amount on your finger every 6 hrs or so if he's not eating well. If you give too much too often there is a possibility of bring on diabetes. If you haven't already, take your dog to a vet for a check up and to discuss what and when you plan to do the shots / heartworm / flea medication stuff. I would recommend this to everyone who gets a new dog, not just because yours is so young. I found a eye dropper very useful because mine had problems eating and I had to force feed him. Pedialight or Gatorade are good if your having to re hydrate your dog. Finally, if your dog shows ANY sign of sickness rush it to the Vets straight away, with Yorkies you only have a small window from sickness -> death because of their size ... yours esp so because of the age. Sorry to be such a nag, but everything I've mentioned above is what I've learnt from terrifying experience that I wish no one to go through. Yorkies are such great dogs, they will make your life sparkle. Good luck, enjoy and have fun. We look forward to see pictures asap. |
