My Max hda a cat at first! Maximillian had a cat as his best bud untill Febuary when my wonderful husband got me Daisy May for my b-day! What a great gift for Max and I both. Then we got another cat, sooooooo....... Now max has 2cats and a wife with her first litter on the way. I swear I have 3 ring circus with 2 kids, a big kid husband, a monther, 2 cats, 2 Yorkies, and 4 possibly 5 pups due any day now HE HE HE... I should get a black top hat for Christmas! |
Well I guess my two are an outcast I Added a secod one about 5 weeks ago. My male depises her. It is getting worse instead of better. He growls and snaps at her.Today he must have bite her because she yelped. I feel so bad for her ,she wants him to play with her, and he is having no part of it. |
We have a lab now, so im hoping that our pup will love him as much as we do! He is a very laid back dog and getting older at 7 years.:dog: Its amazing to see that he is dominated by pretty much any other dog, unless he is defending me. I hope it works out having such a small puppy. Do any of you worry about your big doggies stepping on you yorkies or playing to hard? |

We have a lab that is just a few months older than our yorkies, she is wonderful with the little girls, she absolutly adores them, she is always looking out for them, and they love to jump all over her in play. I couldnt have wished for better than what we have now. |
I have a 6 month old yorkie boy, I am thinking of getting a girl so he can have a companion while I am at work. My concern is, will my little boy start to mark in the house (does not do it now). Also, if I get a little girl, that would mean I would have to have him neutered which makes me nervous. I worry because he is so little he will not handle anesthesia well. He only weighs 2 pounds 14 oz. I could not stand it if he had complications. Any thoughts about the marking and anesthesia. Anyone else in this situation? |
I think it is especially important for dogs that are home alone during the day to have a friend. It's usually best to introduce a new one while the first one is still fairly young. |

Caleb had started marking already (and humping certain stuffed toys). He's 7mths, we had him neutered last week..but he's 6lbs. Yours is small, have you spoke to the vet? I'd get him done if your adding a female, but only if the vet thinks it's the right thing to do...and if he's a healthy dog. Neutering is a worry, we had a black lab die on the table, but he was revived, so it can happen. We've had dogs all our life and he's the only one to do this. I think 99% of the time it works out well...but most of us find it a scary time. If you do have him neutered and work, I'd arrange some time off, Caleb was so sore and unhappy for the first two to three days after, we've never had such a sore dog before, even on meds. He needed extra care and lovin' after. |

I'm so glad I brought Tufty home for Teegy. I think there's nothing I enjoy more on the weekend than the two of them pouncing on me to wake up. They then completely ignore me and wrestle and play all over my bed and I just lay there and smile thinking what did I do to deserve this, it's the happiest feeling in the world. They have lots of doggy neighbour pals and they all get out together for a big old run around and wrestle outside. |

A vet won't and shouldn't do surgery on a dog that small. You can do belly bands and keep them separated when you are not at home to ensure no funky foreplay doggy style goes on. You would also become familiar with your females cycle |
I have 2 dogs because my first one needed a friend. Ironically, his previous owner got rid of him because she said he wasn't getting along with her other 5 yorkies. When I got him, I think he enjoyed being the only child. He got lots of attention, didn't need to fight over food and he was a spoiled boy...but he didn't do very well alone. Every time Id leave the house, he'd poo on the floor. It's because he's a nervous pooper....he gets nervous and his tummy gets upset and then he has to poop. He also started to get lazy and lethargic around the house. Anyways....Prince had been around yorkies all of his life until he came to live with me...and he was always so excited to go to my moms to visit her yorkies(his 2 sons)...in fact, it was the only time he ever got excited so I think he really missed having the companionship. Sooo, I decided I'd try to adopt a little girl to keep him company. After months and months of looking and trying and getting refused, I found a little boy on petfinder that was just too cute to pass up. He ended up being a perfect fit and they are now best friends. No more nervous pooping in the house. He occasionally has an accident, but it's because nobody is there to let him out. Personality wise, the boys are at the opposite end of the spectrum so they make a great fit!!! They are like 2 peas in a pod!! |
Max has an "only child" personality and would have done okay as a loner, but he loves the company of his brother Teddy. I believe Yorkies do like being in pairs or groups, but do fine as singles if they have playtime with doggy friends. They do tend to be social. |
