Another question for you guys...........I am about to leave work to go look at the maybe new yorkie. I live here in NC......what is a decent price to pay..........my other yorkie was given to us.......yeah I know lucky us:)

mine were $500 each but it's depends widely on where you live their lineage bloodline and size so on

Probably an average is anywhere from 800 to 1200.

the nice dogs around here sell for anywhere from 1200-1500. there are cheaper ones in the 600 range but around here, I have seen a difference in the dogs. not saying it is like that everywhere. I started to pay 500 for one before I found ceeby and now that I have him and the others, looking back, they didn't even look much like yorkies. least not like my bunch does.

I believe that if you buy a dog from a champion bloodline then it may cost you around 2500.00 I do not think responsible breeders can afford to sell their Yorkies for less than $1500.00 (Just my thought) I have been told that it is very expensive to maintain a litter (vet,vacc. health, right nutrition etc..) Besides it is always better to buy a puppy from a champion line. Show breeders work to produce animals closer to the standard of the breed (health, personality and beauty). Anyway, my two cents! :)

Champion lines are basically no good unless the champions are like in the third generation. All my dogs are from the judabob champion lines. Silk has eight champions in a five generation but I don't think I will be advertising that. Don't know.

Hey, Aloha.......I am in Myrtle Beach, SC and I've seen them between $650.00 and $1,200.00, advertised in the Local Newspaper but they were CKC. Registered, NOT AKC. They had NO Champions in their Bloodline either!In fact, I just had a Litter a couple of weeks ago, with 2 females @ $2,200.00 a piece and 1 male @ $2,000.00. My abigail (the Mother) has 14 Champions in her Pedigree alone (3 generations). They are "Breeding Quality",
but I guess it just depends on what you are looking for? Since I've Bred mine and I have both Parents I know exactly what they will look like and I know what to expect from them. I am usually a little flexible on the price depending on the Person and their circumstances? Family members & Friends etc.

Around here the better quality ones run $1200 to $1500 but you can get one as low as $600.

Yes, around here I paid $1200 for Louie and $1500 for Bella. They are worth every penny! :p

The problem is, people tend to think that just because they pay more, they are getting a better quality dog. If you are just interested in a pet then why pay that much.

Also Champion lines are not necessarily healthier. Some breeders do a lot of close breeding and can end up with a lot of problems.

I'd suggest just buy from a quality breeder and you will get a better dog. It is more important to research the breeder than the dog.

Just because they have champions does not mean they are ethical.

I totally agree......you have to decide exactly what your looking for a "Pet" or
"Breeeding Quality", even though a Dog has Champion Bloodlines/Pedigree you still have to look for the right features; health, temperment, personality, looks, hair quality etc. Puppies are deceiving thay are all cute & adorable especially Yorkie's! Unfortunetly alot of people get "Pet Quality" and decide to Breed once for the "Experience" or for the Family & Friends? My Neighbor brags to me how she bought 2 females for $550.00 a piece in Kentucky, but
they have crooked teeth and crooked/sway backs they only weigh 3 lbs. (sisters) floppy lop sided ears that she complains about (not me!) In most cases you get what you pay for? I think it's very important to do your own
"Reasearch" to determine your Preferences in the Breed? For some even their Coloring is a factor? We all have our likes and dis-likes but you should be aware of what they are? My Pet Peeve is the "Teacup" term, Breeders get more money just based on their size not their Quality!

just because you pay less than $100 or more for a yorkie doesn't mean the aren't quility yorkies. depends on where you live, that makes a big differance. i have seen them here from $300-$100 in alabama .i think mine are just fine ,they aren't tinys but that's ok with me :p

Around my area you see them as low as 600 to 2000. I have 3. 2 girls and a boy.
Our Boy, Rascal was $600 he will be around 4 maybe 5 pounds. Peaches is 9 mths and we paid $1,200 for her and she is close to 3 pds Baby, she is 4 mths and weighs just about 2 pounds and she was $750

Rascal is AKC, Peaches CKC, Baby AKC

But the point is you see all the differen prices and they are all beautiful...

I think with what we paid.. that they are Poor quality.. and we paid more for Peaches but she is no more quality.. I think

The price totally depends on what your looking for. I've been showing mine and am starting to breed. I like my Yorkies to have nice straight backs (you'll notice a few that have rounded backs or their tail is lower than there back). I also like to have a dog with a good bite and good coloring (you see a lot of Yorkies that end up as an adult with a lot of grey in their gold-this is okay as a young dog, but not as an adult- and their are alot that their blue/or black has more of a brownish tint to it). The price is dependent on all of these things plus others like blood lines and health and where you get them (people that raise only Yorkies or only a couple different breeds tend to price their dogs a little higher than those people who raise twenty different breeds).

If you are just looking for a pet get one that is healthy and has a good disposition. If you are looking to breed do a lot of research and make sure you look at the parents. My neighbor boght a "Yorkie" shortly after I got mine and no one would beleive that they were the same kind of dogs because her's looked so much different than mine.

both my pups came from only yorkie breeders but none the less i believe whatever you pay for a yorkie they are worth every single penny! i personally would NOt put a price cap on buying a yorkie if it were up to me! but sadly hubby can be quite stingy lol good luck hope you get your yorkie baby!

i haven't seen where anyone was saying the lower priced yorkies aren't good quality. My post and others start off by saying, " around here". And 'around here' there is a huge difference in thee five hundred dollar ones as compared to the thousand dollar ones.

In southeast missouri the average prices range..
Larger size 8-lbs plus 400-500
Medium size 5-7 lbs 500-800
Smaller under 5 lbs 800-1500

You're kidding, right? :eek: WHERE have you seen them for that price here? I would LOVE to know. I have never seen them for that price.

Katie, my first yorkie that I purchased back in 1987, I paid $550 for her. She weighed in full grown at 5.5 pounds. No teeth problems, no championship in her bloodline, no other health issues until she turned 4 - she developed colitis and had to be put on meds each time it "flared" up. Gabby, my second precious girl, was purchased in 1997 for $450....again, no problems with her whatsoever, but she's a "porker" weighing in at 16 pounds (more of her to love ;) ). Gage was a rescue and all it cost me for him was the car ride to the idiot's house to get him and he tops the scales at around 7 pounds. To me, there are a lot of factors that go into the price set by the breeder for the precious babies, most of which has been mentioned already. If you're looking for a pet only furbaby, then you don't need to spend a lot of money for the love and affection they give. Price is gonna depend on what you're looking for. Best of luck:)

I paid $900 for Reggie, 4 years ago. He is a cotton coat 4lbs, very black. Great personality. He has chronic asthama.
I got a sister of his (different litter same parents) a year later for $1500, she is 3lbs, very thin silk coat, roach back, bad teeth, bad stop, bat eared....nervous! Prone to seizures...Not the brightest bulb in the socket.
Both are PET quality to the extreme, I love them to death but I paid way too much for Kenzie.

I am hoping to show someday (in th research part right now) and will probably pay around $2500 for my next yorkie.

I am not a breeder, I only have a girl Yorkie, however check this out, I found this article about show quality puppies on The Dog Magazine published in Bulgaria. It was written by Ms Sabrina Parisi that is the breeder of the Yorkshire terrier Dolce Sinfonia. I thought it is interesting. It was long so I removed some parts::animal36

going to look at them. I still want badly a Yorkie these are said to look all yorkie but have Jack Russel in them. with papers {?? } and health checked ,first shots and womrings. can't hurt. thu I love the Pap/corgi guys. I wouldn't mind a Yorkie.


PS> OT Irish rescue came thru and snatched my rescue Irish guys today. both of them. off to happy foster home in Ca and a adopter/foster home in VA.. the transport girl fell hard for Nobblers and he's a perma dog. YAY!

I was wondering the same thing as you. I havent seen any for 100-300 ever, anywhere. Not saying their isnt some, but I would sure as heck like to see them. cheapest ive ever seen were at least 500 and those were not the small ones and they were boys. Girls start even higher as far as I've seen.

Prices seem to be all over the place and it seems the AKC registered ones are going to be more. The average range I would say nationally is between 800-2000. Here in NYC, there aren't many options and all are above 1500 range. I got my new puppy from out of state.

i look online and in the local papers all the time highest i have seen around here's $1000 the smaller they are the more they cost and the bloodline make a big differance also. that last post was supposed to be $300-1000 not 100 100 is wayyy too low! sorry, my bad
