Remember -- even the standards allow for some variation -- I think there are a lot of Yorkies out there that meet the standards very well....... but - there are "oh so many more" that fall short in a variety of different ways. More than most breeds - the Yorkie has many different looks.... we have talked a lot about the fact that sometimes they don't even look like the same little dog. Different ears, faces, noses, colorings, types of coats, weights, haircuts, etc. etc. etc. I think if you take a group of any other breed - they will look more alike than our little Yorkies do. There are pictures all over the Internet of beautiful show winners who are wonderful examples of Yorkies who closely meet the Yorkie standards. And, I've seen many pictures here on Yorkie Talk - of people's dogs who are beautiful examples of what a standard Yorkie should look like. (I'm surprised that some of you aren't putting your pictures up here......) Carol Jean |
1 Attachment(s) The perfect yorkie puppy! i know your all jealous. hahaha :D |
In this friday, i am going to show my yorkie (first time, he is 8 month old), if he will get good results, i will post pics :) I think he is very close to standard..but who knows. Anyway, everyone have they own prefers even in standard. For example: baby face with a long face. Both type are ok with a standard, but i don't like the long face type..only a short one. And i know a very good breeder in israel, who think the opposite...she likes the long face yorkies. |

LOL Man that is a put your money where your mouth is kind of challenge if I ever saw one. I think it's funny you didn't get many takers. If you want to see the perfect yorkies just look at my avatar. They are absolutely perfect when they are sleeping on my lap. |
1 Attachment(s) I think my Coco bear is very close to perfect on the standard scale, except that she's not as short as some yorkies. She's my perfect standard. Her ears are always up and pointy tip, straight back, perfect tail and neck, and of course that beautiful smile, plus her colors are rich. But I really couldn't care less..lol..she could be a roly poly with white floppy ears and she'd still be my baby..lol |

I read, that the reason for this is because, most of the desired qualities are actually brought about through recessive genes, so in order for them to show up, that gene has to be on both sides. But how many of us would even be able to afford our babies if all that were produced, were the perfect ones. They would be selling for $10,000. So I am grateful for all those breeders who have provided us with our perfectly imperfect specimens. Probably the most predictable trait in a yorkie is that their looks and size are very unpredictable. |

His color is beautiful. At 8 months it is hard to tell. Have you been training him in conformation classes? |
1 Attachment(s) Here's a picture of MY perfect yorkie. I don't care how big he gets or how small, I don't care if his ears stay up or if they don't. No matter what, he will always be perfect to me.:) |
