Rescue Remedy Hello, My neighbor suggested that I give Royce Rescue Remedy to help alleviate his separation anxiety I rubbed a few drops on his neck and after a few moments I started doing his exercises ie : drssing as if going for work and going outside of the apartment and for some reason he was whinning for about 3 minutes then he stopped and was quiet for half an hour . Do you this this medication is safe ? I also called the vet's assistant and she said its safe to give him two drops in the morning before i leave and add 4 drops in his water ?? is it safe ? Im scared of giving him stuff like this  |
i've never heard of it? What exactly is that for? |

Very interesting... is it safe for pets to have that? Good Luck hope someone can help you out! |
It is absolutely safe. I have 5 yorkies and two other elder dogs and I have used it many times. It is also great for humans! |
I used it for Jewel and it helped her too. They are made of flower essense and I couldn't find anything that was dangerous about it. I did the drops in the water thing. And I put some in a spray bottle with water and spritzed it on her and on her bed to help calm her. This works great for dogs who are spooked by loud noise like thunder, firework, etc. too. I use it myself when I have to make presentation for my job. I hate talking to a crowd and with a couple of drops under my tongue I do much better. |

This is very interesting. Demi experiences such intense excitement during dog class that she scratches non-stop during the sit and down stays. The other week, she actually broke out into a rash that disappeared within minutes of leaving class. She's been allergy-tested and she isn't fed wheat or corn. I think it's positive stress that's causing the problem. Her excitement level in class is extreme. Her little tail wags so fast it's a blur the entire time. I wonder if Rescue Remedy might be a good thing to try. Does it make the dog sleepy, or just calm? TIA! |

well, I dont think I would take it but it might help kizzy not get so excited when company comes, but she has gotten a lot better. I could give her some when I know i'm gonna have company just long enough to get her use to not getting so excited then maybe she wont keep doing it once I dont give it to her. |

The stuff is GREAT! It's homeopathic and very safe for animals and humans. They make a liquid and also a cream. You can find it at most health food stores and it's not too expensive. I give it   |
my neice used it when recovering from a shark attack last february. it seemed to help with her anxiety and helped with the healing. my mom uses oils on her yorkies when they get nervous or upset. |

Rescue Remedy is available at most health food stores. Drs. Foster & Smith also sell it, but I don't know if it is a different formula for animals or not. The also sell several other calming herbal preparations disguised as treats. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/pic/ar...id=183&aid=533 |

I think I'll try either the Vita-Calm or the Ultra-Calm. Both say they're for event-related stress including dog shows, which is probably the closest thing to my situation (positive stress in dog class). The Rescue Remedy description says it does not make dogs *overly* sleepy, which I'm reading to mean *a little sleepy*. Thanks again! I've only been a member here for about a month, I think, and I've learned so much already! |
I did look at a human version of Rescue Remedy and compared the herbs to the dog formula and although it costs 1/3 of the price - the ingredients were very different. I am thinking that you could probably get something local at a Petco or Petsmart. |
I love rescue remedy for me! I think of it as zen in a bottle!! A couple of drops under the tongue and within a few minutes I'm much more mellow! But I'm really excited to hear that it works for dogs! I might try a drop on Dixie tomorrow night for agility because she gets quite stressed at class - in fact so do I, so it'll probably be good for us both! It certainly doesn't make me sleepy in fact it helps me focus better. |
My Maggie gets carsick and would get sick everytime we ride in a car. A friend of ours gave us a bottle of Bach's Rescue Remedy. I drop one drop on her tougue and boy the difference!!! She now can go on trips with us without getting sick. I've check with a couple of my friends that show dogs and know breeders at work, and they all said that it is safe. I am so glad we found this. I give it an A++ |

You say your dog gets stressed in class. Can you tell me more (everything you know!) about that? I've been trying to find out more about positive stress but have not come across much practical info. Thanks! |

http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/ It is less than half what Foster's and Stearns charges! |
If the cheaper human version works the same that's great even if it has different ingredients. The human version is usually available in any health food store so you don't have to even pay shipping. Heck, everyone is so positive about it I think I will go get the Bach's brand and give it a try on my wild child. |

For the ones that use Rescue Remedy for their dogs, do you put the drops in their water or directly into their mouth. Also, how many drops? Thanks penny |
Maggie is 6 lbs, I just put one little drop on her togue. There is a spray kind too that you can spray on treats. |
Here's a link that explains the dosage for various situations. http://www.canine-epilepsy-guardian-...cue_remedy.htm |
I put a drop on my finger and they lick it off:) easy |
