Bad Experience At The Groomer!!!! So my husband took Scruffles to the groomer today. He showed him a previous picture of him with a puppy cut. He ask that he NOT be shaved but trim him up. So why when Jim picked Scruffles up, did he come back shaved (face and all)??? Why was he cut underneath by his belly and the groomer NEVER mentioned this to my husband until he noticed. Needless to say my husband lost it and if I had been there, I would have lost it too. It got so bad that the groomer had the phone in his hand ready to call the cops. My husband said that he came so close to putting his hands on the groomer. I am in tears right now. He doesn't even look like a Yorkie anymore. The groomer did a hack job on my baby and I feel so violated. I can't even fully describe to everyone how I feel right now. All Scruffles asks for is our love and to take good care of him. I feel like I've failed him. I handed my baby over to some jerk who hurt him and butchered him. I thought he was good. Honestly everyone, I can barely look at Scruffles I just want to throw up from what was done to him. |
I feel so bad you are going through this. You have not failed your baby you thought this person was good and he wasn't. Please don't blame yourself. His hair will grow back and I'm sure he is a cutie pie anyway. |
Sorry I feel bad for you and have been there but you need to pull yourself together. Your baby is feeling the tension from you and will act on that. Best thing you can do is treat him like he is beautiful! I hope you can find a better groomer. |
OMG!!! im so sorry this happened . ok try to calm down ok...i would of had a heart attack too.. your poor husband... ok at least your baby is ok, right? it could of been worse, just relax.. im sorry i dont know what you can do or i really dont know what to say...just give the baby hugs and kisses and give him some from me and lexi....i would raise hell, but what that gonna do. |
Well, try not to feel so bad. Most all of us have been there at one time or another. Now, Scruffles isn't going to be standing in front of the mirror and screaming at you for what happened. Scruffles, or at least most yorkies, could care less, except some feel nekkie when they take it all off sometimes. It's very disgusting that a groomer can't follow instructions when faced with a photograph as reference, but as I said, you aren't the first and you surely won't be the last. Scruffles just wants to be loved. He will appreciate a cute sweater right now and in time his hair will grow back (about 1/2-inch per month). Again, I'm sorry, but as I also said, you aren't the first, either. |
Thanks everyone. Things could be worst and I know it will grow back. I just can't believe this happened, seeing that the groomer has a Yorkie himself. I was just thinking that I'm going to have to put a sweater on him. And his cut will heal. This has just been one of those weeks and this was the straw that broke the camel's back. First, my husband injures himself on the job last week so he's out on Worker's Comp until he has surgery. He'll be ok physically, but he's miserable right now. This is kind of funny, but this morning, he got up to make coffee. We have a Cuisinart thermal Grind N Brew that was a gift from his parents. It's an expensive coffee maker. My husband put the water in it, grinded the beans and turned it on. He forgot to put the caraf underneath it. Neither one of us was in the room while it was brewing. There was coffee everywhere. I cleaned up the mess on the floor and left the room for a couple of minutes. Next thing I know, I hear water running in the sink. Well, he took the coffee maker and soaked it in the sink under running water to clean it out! Coffee maker is fried. Then the groomer incident! I think we both need to start this day over:-) |
OMG! That is worse than a nightmare! I suppose you could look at it this way - you've had your bad luck for the year. The rest of the year should be good.;) Honestly, I'm sorry it has been so bad. What is so bad is that you had to pay for that haircut! |
We're off to the vet. I just looked again and he's bleeding... |
Oh no i hope hes okay |
i definatley wou ld NOT have payed and make sure anyone i come in contact with knows what happened to never go there word of mouth spreads like wildfire! he will be ok it will grow out quickly hopefully things will get better asap! |
I'm so sorry you are having one of those "Murphy's Law" weeks. I do hope Scruffles' wound is ok, bless his heart. Keep telling him he is beautiful. Otherwise, he might think he has done something wrong. Let us know how he makes out at the vet's. And, if there is someone higher up at the groomer's, let that person know what happened. If a visit to the vet is required after what they did, then they should be responsible for the bill. |

I'm more concerned about the groomer cutting him and not saying anything than I am about the bad haircut. I would throw a fit if a groomer cut my yorkie, ESPECIALLY if he couldn't be honest enough to tell me! I hope Scruffles is okay, I'm glad you decided to take him to the vet. |
That's terrible. It's good your taking him in and I would stop by the groomers and hand them the bill. I have never in 35 years of owning yorkies have had a groomer shave them. I always tell them I am growing her out and do not want anything cut except for the ear tips. I trim the feet and length if necessary. What don't some groomers understand!!! Keep us posted. |
He CUT him ? and he's still bleeding ? Poor guy - I'd be really upset too. REALLY upset if I saw blood. Most of us have had really bad haircuts but I can't say anyone ever shaved the girls faces - If that groomer has a yorkie I have to wonder what it looks like. But to cut him on his tummy ? That's like the easiest place to shave ! :( :( :( I would put him in clothes cause he probably does feel embarrassed....they really feel stuff like that and a cute little shirt will perk him up. Keep telling him how cute he looks too - and he'll be ok - |
I'm home from the vet :( He required two stitches and the wound is near his pee pee. I'm just so horrified by this whole thing. How could someone do this? What looked like a knick at first turned out to be a flesh wound that went deeper than we thought. I'm sure it bled when he cut him, but they probably used an agent to stop the bleeding. I can't believe he tried to cover this whole thing up. We're going to go to this groomer first thing in the morning and present him with the bill for $206 and ask him to pay within 24 hours otherwise he'll hear from our attorney. I'm also going to take pictures of this too for evidence. I have an antibiotic for Scruffles and he had to go under anesthesia. Thanks everyone for your kindness. |
I’m so sorry to hear about your Scruffles. I would be so angry…that sounds like a serious cut too! I hope he feels better soon and I’m glad to hear you plan to stick that “groomer” with the vet bill—that’s the least he could do. |
OMG!! He needed 2 stitches?? That is unexceptable! What kind of groomer would cut your dog that deeply and not tell you? So irresponsible. Good for you to make them pay for the vet bill you should also ask for your money back if you even paid for the cut. I would worry too much about the hair cut because Zoe's haircut before the last was a really bad shave as well. Sounds like the same as your baby. Even his face hair was shaved off. believe me I was pissed and thought it was the worse hair cut ever. He looked like a chi which is fine but he's a yorkie. Hair grows back but the cut is a big no no. I'm sorry this happened. |
Poor baby!! How terrible for a groomer to not let you know. I bet he denies it happened there! |
How awful. I don't think I would go and have a confortation in person. Someone could end up in jail or worse get hurt. Call him and offer him the chance to pay before going to small claims court. Do you have that where you live? What could have possibly cut him that deep , not the clippers. Scissors maybe. |
Omg!!! I can't believe this story  . I am sooo terribly sorry to hear this. This is why I tell DH all the time that I'm scared to take our 5mo. to the groomer. From nightmares like this. I hope your baby heals fast and keep us posted on what the groomer says or does. |
did they still make you pay? |
Try Pet Smart next time.. I would kill this guy! Where was this. Is it a business or some one's home or what??? I really want to learn how to groom Chewy myself. I think the place I go does a good job but Chewy hates it and he is very scared... Mind you he hates when I brush him... so he has no trust when it comes to grooming but I am working really hard on earning his trust! These poor babies... When i take (We go to pet smart) Chewy I stand right there and watch everything they do... they have a big glass window and I can watch every move they make. And they see me watching so they are really good to him! </IMG> |
Goodness! I can't believe your week. That poor little Scruffles, too. Let us know how it goes tomorrow. When the groomer sees you coming, he might call the police - he'll be scared your husband will deck him!:D |
Goodnight. I'll let you know how it goes... Scruffles is sleeping now. He really is very cute still. And he acts like nothing happened. My husband and I have been talking this situation over. My in-laws are horrified. The vet office was horrified too. Everyone's asked me who did this. Odd thing is that this is a groomer who also has a Yorkie. He's a local groomer in Monroe, NY. He's not a chain, but located in a store front. After all of the horror from groomers in the news lately, I asked every question that I could ask beforehand to make sure that he will be safe. Scruffles is 9 months old. Just to give you some background, training was challenging in the beginning as they are with all puppies, but he's perfect now. I regularly wash him, shave his ears, clip his nails, brush him and blow dry. He is used to being handled so I know his behavior couldn't have contributed to this mess. I just wanted him trimmed. My husband promises that he will be calm tomorrow. He insists on going, but I'm scared. I asked if I should come and he didn't want me to. I will let everyone know how it goes. I just told him to be the bigger person. |
I'm very sorry you have made such a bad experience! The hair will grow back eventually but such a deep wound should definitely not have happened. I totally agree with someone that suggested earlier that you should try to put this guy out of business. Spread the word! :) |
I'm just speechless That's unbelievable... I'm waiting for an update. |
I am horrified! I have had terrible experiences with groomers here in CT, but this is just a shame!! I am so sorry for your family's pain and the pup being neglected..............please get the attorney involved if you must! Good luck |
please let us know what happened, now im really pissed off ...  that poor little boy...keep your cool |
I am so sorry your little guy went through this, I hope he feels better today. I think I would be sitting in jail if this happened to any of my babies. |
