when snickers ears wouldnt go up i was all worried about it and when they did i thought hmmm why did that matter so much to me? i'm not breeding her... i think sometimes we put misplaced value on it (myself included) until you stop and really think about it... unless you are breeding it shouldnt be a big thing... your furkid is your furkid... if my skinkid had huge ears or anything else i woudl still love him the same?? and karma (one of our new additions) has floppy ears and they are hairy and i think its downright adorable... kinda softens her up a bit and boomer has very erect ears that are hairy and i think it makes him look inquisitive and thats adorable too snickers are up i remember being so happy when they DID go up but now that that *drama* is over i dont know what i placed such a high value on it? i would luv her the same way either way and yours are adorable!!!!! :animal-pa |
Our little guy just turned 12 weeks old and both his ears are down. They do stand up when he gets excited. It doesn't matter to us. We like him either way. |

Sending smoochies to all those little floppy ears out there :luvu: :luvu: lol - Shoot... when Cheri was a baby I thought I was raising a Bunny Wabbit :) and finally one day her head grew into her ears ... Seriously - don't take it personally - we have some gorgeous BIG ...SMALL ...Floppy Eared......BIG Eared ....spoiled rotten yorkies - I'd take personality over looks anytime.... and Chanel needs to start her own JAIL Rap if she doesn't settle down - she just went nuts on the Meter man today..lucky the slider door was shut :D :D She thinks she's a rottie when it comes to her spyin turf |
I think the floppy ears are adorable and wanted jewel"s ears to stay down but they went up |
I agree!! Mason ears stand up but Mias dont yet..Is Mason any beeter. Heck NO!! There both still adorable! :D :D |
I LOVE floppies and think they are adorable. As far as a full tail goes, i hadn't actually seen one till pictures on this thread. I love it! haha. when Maggie needs groomed the hair on her little nub (i wasn't given the choice..) gets ridiculously long. I think it's really cute till you go to touch it and it's just long scraggly hair! We call it her chicken tail haha. I wish there was actually tail in there because I bet it would be sooo cute. |
Did you see the thread on Carmen Electras yorkie? It has floppy ears and you know she paid a bundle for it. It's really adorable. |

I think your babies are gorgeous. They remind me of Sophie when she was younger. She also has floppy ears. I think they look cute either way. |

I think Yorkies are cute with floppy ears as well. Of course, everyone has their preference as to which they like best, just as they do with tails. I do however think that many times breeders will get a bad rap as being snobby if they make a comment that non-erect ears shouldn't be bred. Well, erect ears aren't part of the standard, so all they are saying is that they are trying to stick to that, not that the ears make the dog better or worse. One of the pups from Trixie's litters has ears that flop. They were standing when the pup left our home, but the owner wanted them to flop she preferred it, so she never had the ears trimmed or try to make them stand. Just what she wanted. Still an adorable dog...of course, I am a bit biased too. |
Actually - I think that can just happen because the cartlidge may be weak - but don't quote me on this :p :p and I bet even some of the best breeders may have had a puppy or two with ears that flopped & no - the Ring would never accept a yorkie with floppy ears - but then again - most all of us do NOT have showdogs - but we have LOVED dogs... and that's just as important if not more. |
Your babies are adorable. Whether their ears are up or down, or their tails are short or long, or any other differences they may have, ALL yorkies are just too dang lovable and irresistable. Until I saw Roxy, I had no interest in a small, yappy lap dog. I loved big, furry, wrestle-with dogs. What was I thinking? I have yet to see a picture of a yorkie on here that I didn't wish I had for my own. Each one has it's own facial expression and personality. Roxy's ears are constantly going up and down, so I really don't know whether she's erect earred or floppy. Today, she has one up and one down. I don't want to cut the hair on them because they look like angel wings when they are up so maybe it's the weight of the hair. And a long tail makes it easier to catch than when they chase a little stub. :D So, unless you are showing or breeding, then who cares? They are our babies, and we love them. (Some of the pics I've seen, are, IMO prettier than the show dogs, and that's the truth!) |
She is adorable! Floppy ears or not! |

Yorkies Yorkies... Don't they come in a variety of sizes? 3,5,9,or 15 pounds, it's still a Yorkie. Long legs, short legs, docked tails, long tails... Floppy ears, erect ears or half way up. Black, silver, golden, reddish... But it's still a Yorkie... Short hair or long hair, it doesn't matter. Pepper's ears used to be up at about 11 weeks, then went down and even though I gave them a 'buzz cut' they are floppy. They might stay that way (at least I got pictures :D ). I saw cutie pie Yorkies with floppy ears, there's something cuddly about those faces, esp if the hair on the ear is long. My mom's Yorkie has perfectly standing ears but his tail never got docked. And he's just as precious :) |
