Does yours HATE bath time??? Pita HATES baths, she sits still but she just shivers and shakes, I bathe her in the sink and fill it with warm water, I do everything I can to make her comfortable but she HATES it. Then to add insult to injury I have to blow dry her or she would freeze to death and she hates that even more. I have a flea problem so she gets a bath twice a week at least and it's just miserable for her. Any ideas to make it better for her???? |
How old is she?? Maybe she will get better? Bailey doenst seem to mind it at all! Then I wrap him in a towel and he will stay in my arms as long as I will hold him~ Its so sweet,, then LOOK OUT hes is a holy terror,,, running on and around everything! |
I put the towel in the dryer while i give Mojo a bath so it is very warm and confy!! Also try to take her out...play with her after the bath...so she can associate it with something she enjoys. |
Fred was scared to death and hatd it at first..and then he figured out he gets a whole treat instead of half a treat after bath so he just stands quietly with his paws on the side of the tub! |
She is 6 months old, and with each bath she hates it more, she knows now when I run the sink and go to get her and she goes the other way! I play with her and try to give her treats I praise her all thro it... I don't know i'll try the warm towel thing but I doubt that'll be enuf to make her like it. She tolerates it but I can tell she is not a happy camper... |
Duke loves his bath! I also run his towel in the dryer while I bathe him, and he loves to snuggle in his warm towel after his bath and enjoy his Greenie. :p I hope that your little starts to enjoy her bath soon! Good luck! |
Maximus does not like baths either. he shakes and tries to skuttle away when I reach for anything  ... I think he'll get better though because he is still young. Let me know if anything helps! |
Sully seems to think that bath time is punishment. :( It's heartbreaking. His ears flatten to his head and he whines, and looks at me with sad eyes like "what did I do wrong, mommy?" We bathe him in the tub with warm water and we have a detachable shower head that we bring down on him, so it really is bearable - he tolerates it well, but I am convinced he spends the next hour trying to figure out what we were punishing him for. The poor darling. |
That's exactly how Pita is, after her bath she won't kiss me or anything. I am public enemy number one! I sure hope she learns to like it! I can't imagine what would make it change? Maybe I'll try bathing her in the tub instead of the sink?? |
I just gave Brutus a bath today and he hated it! I don't know how the breeder did it! He was shaking and so scared and forget the blow dryer incident! And to top if off now he hates his comb and brush. He's was growling and nipping at them. |
Lucy HATES her bath! She is three now and has always been like this, for no apparent reason. You tell her 'bath time for Lucy!' and she runs and hides behind the sofa! She hates being blowdried too, she just runs around while you are aiming the hairdrier at her, rubbing her face on the floor! She is too funny! :p |
Bath Lol isn't it funny how some love it and other act like the Wicked Witch as though they'd melt by touching the stuff. Simon doesn't really LOVE a bath, but wants to be wherever I am always. We have a sit down shower and more than once he's pawed open the door and hopped right in. Funny little guys we have! Jeni |
Tia is not fond of her bath either. What seems to help is if I continually talk to her in my "sweet baby" voice. It really calms her down and she doesn't shake or squirm. |
Try putting a rubber mat or towel in the bottom. A lot of dogs hate baths because their feet slip around or they think they will. This has cured every "fear of baths" dog I've ever had. |
bath time baylee hates it we both get wet . |
Does he ever hate his baths!!!! He just got a bath an hour ago and he shakes and trembles. I hate it, the way he acts breaks my heart. I sometimes blow dry him and sometimes I don't. Then I wrap him in a warm towel and we cuddle on the couch or in bed till he is dry. During that time I bundle him under fleece blankets and he lays next to me. I think that works becuase it traps my body heat to warm him...I don't like doing it, but hafta....he has bad allergies and bathing frequently helps a tiny bit :( |
Yes!!My Pebbles hates bath time she growls and bited me so hard and becomes mad at me and we becone our little buddys again! |
I also bathe my yorkie, Oscar, in the kitchen sink. He shakes alot, but I heap on praise and give him a couple treats during the bath, and that seems to help :) |
1 Attachment(s) When I first got Chanel I let her play in the bath - I showed her how to splash her feet - let her have a drink from the sprayer and had little float toys in the bath - I think she's just a water baby cause she LOVES her baths - in turn - her sister Cheri is getting to tolerate hers cause she sees Chanel in the water having fun....I think most yorkies are just not water lovers - the noise or getting their faces wet is something they don't like - but you can just keep trying and see if in time they learn to like the warm water more....Good Luck !! This is my 2 in the bath when Cheri was a baby - (Cheri is the one looking totally miserable but she's a little better in it at 11 months) Cheri is crying.... Chanel is singing ! |
There has never been a dog on this earth who hates water so much as my Maggie. She is a major drama queen ( )about getting a few rain drops on her face. Taking the hand held shower head to her is torture. (And she is now nearly four years old, and has been bathed pretty near once a week since I got her. It does NOT get better with age). Tonight...or perhaps tomorrow night, I have the rare treat of bathing not only Maggie, but also Molly for the first time. (Molly was bathed last week by her groomer, but this will be the first time that I'm trying it). One thing I will say is that Maggie LOVES and ADORES the hair dryer bit. :p And she's an angel about being combed (which we do every day). It's just the water she hates. |
Mason has never been fond of his bathing time, but his sister's mommy told me that they take a bath together all the time and it's great bonding time  soooooo, I bought some bubble bath yesterday and went home all excited to get in a bath with Mason and play with water (thought this would excite him a bit). Filled the tub with warm water, put bubble bath in, and lit some candles for relaxation effect and got the room all smelling good :p Mason did not appreciate this at all :( at least I enjoyed the bath :D |
scrappy dosent mind his bath the only thing he dosent like about bath time is the blow dryer ,it"s getting warmer so I"m gonna start letting him air dry. :) |
Red98vet that is the funniest picture!! I'm glad to hear it's not just me that has a hard time with bathing. Pita did a little better after her last one, I kept her wrapped in the towel and only took her out a little at a time to brush her. I think she hates how cold she gets after the bath. Oh well, thanks for sharing all the bathtime stories!! |
Bath time You can't take a bath for Ruby Doo, she gets in the shower if you are in there with you If you get a tub bath she willl stand that and dance on her back feet cause she is too little to get into the tub her self so she awaits until you get out then she licks your feet to death....lol ....hate that so....... Then after I get out she rubbs her nose and scoootes on the floor and then off.... she goes like a wild woman......lol :p :p :p |
My Benji hates baths too. No matter what I do.! I can barely towel dry, then he runs crazy through the house til he is dry! Angel Muffin was like that too. Question is: How often do you bath your yorkie? We go to the groomers every 8 weeks and I give only one bath in between because he hates it so much. Of course I spot clean him with a cloth of shampoo suds when necessary. What do you do? Thanks. :aimeeyork |
bath 1 Attachment(s) Gracie isn't to bad in the bath...but she does do better in the tub than in the sink. I actually found the best way to bathe her....but don't make fun...she normally sleeps on my bathroom floor when I take a shower and the other day i decided to fill the tub up after my shower and put her in there...so i was in the tub with her and she was SO much more relaxed!! It was easier too..cause i didn't get soaked bathing her!!!! It is after the bath that it is rough...she shakes for SO long...she hates the blowdryer...so normally i wrap her up in a fleece towel and snuggle her...here is a picture of her buddy dozer keeping her warm after a bath!!! :) |
Heather, I had to email your picture to my daughter cuz she wants a bulldog soo bad! That is too cute! |
That picture of Dozer keeping her warm is priceless!!!!!! |
Buddy does not care for baths, but knows when he needs one. Jake loves to be bathed. Both will go jump in the tub when they are ready to be bathed. |
The only thing that Biddy hates more than her bath is when Tucker has his bath. She jumps and cries and barks like crazy!! I think she thinks I'm hurting him!! She's so protective of her little brother (except from herself)!! |
