I was wandering what made everyone name there yorkies their names? a family member a tv star or a certain meaning etc? I named my baby "gracie" b/c it means the graceful ones and the grace of god! how about you guys?!?!:animal-pa |
My kids named Peanut from that movie Jury duty years ago, where he took his chi with him...My dtr name Lexie because she needed a fu fu girls name and I named Bear because he looks like one....:rolleyes: |

Darla was named after Darla from the Little Rascals because of her shiny black hair. We were going to name Reece, Alphalpha...but I couldnt do it lol...so he was named after the peanut butter cup since he looks like one:D Dawn |
I named Oscar after my poppa - just thought it was a cute name and the first that came to me when I saw him - he had a white head just like my poppa did, lol. I had the name Dottie (my grandma's name) picked out before I got Ruthie, but when I found out that she had been born on my mother's birthday I changed the name to Baby Ruth. This way I would call her either Baby or Ruthie (Ruthie seems to have stuck though). Baby from dirty dancing, and Ruth after my mom - so it's a combo name. Everyone turns up their nose when they hear my dog's names, but they fit them...they really do. |
Dennis because he was a menace, and Sahara because that was her name when I purchased her and she knows it already. However I did want Destiny or Cherish, but times running out on that! Sahara is a beautiful name and it does fit, so……. |
My husband chose Buddys name, he was drinking a bottle of Budweiser at the time.....:p and he ended up with a middle name cos my son wanted him to be called Bramble :) |

Those are all adorable names!!! I named my poodle Melody because I thought she was as sweet as one.......my cat is Kiro (pronounced keero) because my husband and I are both hispanic and our pets are bilingual..............lol Kiro is the equivalent to Kitty cat in English. As for my yorkie.......well, the litter is soon to be born and won't know the sex until then. I have picked out Ginger or Roxy if it is a female and if it is a male then Bebé (baby) or whatever comes to mind when I see him. |

snickers.... because she is snack sized lol and we have kids so i thought it would be apporpriate to have a "kid-friendly" kind of name and her coloring when we got her was chocolate and caramel all the way :D |
I named my furbaby "Frodo" because I was reading "The Lord of the Rings" at the time... I had thought on my way to pick him up that if he didn't look like a Frodo, I would change it, but one look at him and it stuck!!! :p |

I named my baby Gracie for George Burns and Gracie Allen. I loved those two! Every night, I always said good night to my four cats each by name and then to myself by saying "nite nite Gracie". I thought it would be neat to have a real Gracie to say that to! Now I have to find another name for me for the nite nite routine! |
we had a diffrent name for our baby every day for a week.. I wanted every one to like his name and it was very tough getting every one on board for the same name! here's the list before we settled on Chewy (Chewbacca) Ozzy, Freddy, Reggie, Fezzy, Opie, Sammy, Timmy, (Poppy, because he peed on my couch the first day we got him...ever see that on Sienfeld???) I can't remeber any more... There were more... poor baby was confused!!!:( |
Daisy's mommy was named Blossom so we wanted her to be a flower too. Teddy Bear just looked like a little Teddy Bear. |
We named our Sammy (Sampson). Orig name was Brutus, and because this was our first small dog, my husband decided he would rather he be called Sammy. We named Sophie, (Sophia) because that was what she looked like the first time we saw her at three weeks old....it fits her perfectly, she is like a little princess.... and our baby Isis was named after our lab we had for 14 years. Her name also fits her perfectly.... |

I named my baby Lily but her full name is "Water Lily" it's a very pretty flower like her and she's like a floating flower sooo graceful!!!:D |
We were having a hard time coming up with a name, when my hubby looked at our painting in the living room filled with sand pipers. She has the same coloring. So Piper was named after the sand pipers here in Florida. |
Well we couldn't find matching names for our yorkies (me and my mom) And she wanted matching names so we went and looked at them and we decided on Peeka and Boo and trust me they live up to the names always hiding. I have a cat that looks like a white tiger and tigger is my favorite cartoon character so we named him tigger and we have a black cat that we named Lucky just because they say black cats aren't and we have a black lab named Snickers just cause i have always loved the name, |
I named Chiquito our Chihuahua because Chiquito means little one or samll in spanish. Oscar my baby at the bridge because Oscar the cookie monster and he looked like him when we first got him, actually my husband maned him Oscar. Jerome because we are big Steelers fans and Jerome Bettis was the Steelers runing back. Kiki the cat her real name is Pumpkin, but we always call her Kiki and she doesn't come to you if you call her pumpkin. |
I chose "Jake" because I'm a big baseball fan and our home stadium is called "Jacobs Field" and everyone calls it "The Jake". |
We have two male cats named Romeow and Purrsy. We call them both Buddy. We had a male yellow lab named Luther. We called him Buddy. Soooo, when we got out Yorkie, we just decided to call him Buddy. Not very original, but when we call BUDDY, they all come running. It works for us!! |
