adding a 2nd and 3rd yorkie to our home... could you share your experiences and ideas So snickers is 9months old now and we just love her to death... and now we have this opportunity to add (2) 2yr old yorkies to our home - a boy and a girl both raised together, both spayed and neutered and we are so excited... and wanting to hear others experiences or ideas... how has it worked out with other YT"ers adding not 1 but 2 new additions to the household.....:animal-pa |
I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY FOR YOU!!! That is the BEST news I have heard ALL DAY! :) :) :) :) :) Those 2 are sooooooooooooo cute, I am soooooooooooooo HAPPY that they may have found their NEW FOREVER HOME!!! Best of Luck, YOU WILL DO FINE, I am sooooooooo sure you are already an EXCELENT MOMMA!!! :p :p :p |
Oh you will absolutely LOVE having 2 new additions to your family!!!!! I just added one new addition and it really has been a breeze. It took Hobbs about a week to fully get used to the situation, but now they are inseparable!!!!!!!! When do you get to get them? I can't WAIT to see all kinds of pics! :D :p :D :p :D |
Its great!!!! I just added a male yorkie to the zoo & Lexie has acted alittle different but she is starting to come around...It may take a couple of days, but they will start loving each other..... I am so happy for you....Congratulations!!!! |

No Problem! I mean it! I wish you all the best, and you know that what ever  you may be faced with you have all of us on YT for support! |
whoops just realized i posted this in the wrong place... prob should have been in general yorkie discussion i am not sure how i did that lol probably because i was in the rescue forum 1st! admin if you need to move this plse do i'm sorry!! |
I bet they will all do fine. We added a little female to our house a few months ago and she if fine with the rest. We took two of ours to Tennessee to our friend and they are all fine there too. Yorkies seem to adjust very well. We now have four females and they fuss at each other at times, but genuinely love to be together. Our house sounds like a train in going through it when they all run and play. lol I wouldn't have it any other way. So wonderful that you are taking them. |
ok so snickers has her own bed... should i get two more beds or get a larger one? silly questions i know.... but those with multiple yorkies could you give some advice? seperate feeding dishes too? thier feeding dishes will have to be at least different from snickers she is eating something different then what they are on... any suggestions/ideas would be great!! |
Awww that's wonderful -- CONGRATS!! :D I would get 1 big bed and let them all share it! |
That is so great! I am glad you are adopting them! |

aww i see you have 3... do they share no problem with the others? |
OH my existing baby adjusted just fine. Don't be nervous when you first bring them home because there will be an adjustment period. Hobbs took about a week to a week and a half to get fully adjusted. Now they are BFF. I did not buy any additional beds or food dishes. The thing you need to make sure of is that Snickers is not treated any differently. Make sure you give her all the loving FIRST. I did not buy any additional beds or food dishes because then Hobbs would think that the new baby was getting something that he wasn't. I didn't want him to feel that way. So, they share EVERYTHING! The day I got Hootie, I started switching her food over. I just put her food and Hobbs' food mixed in Hobbs' food bowl. They eat the same food now and still out of the same food bowl. I tried to 2 separate bowls for about a day or two. But, Hobbs wanted what HOOTIE was eating. So, there was no point in having 2 bowls from that point on. |
I have a large bed in case they all want to be together, but also two small beds if one want it for herself. This works out fine. |
Wait... which yorkies are you getting? Everyone keeps saying you are getting "them" who's them??? pics pics pics |
   :) :animal-pa :) :animal-pa |

If you can't tell yet..it would be great to post pictures when they get home. We all want to see your new additions! So wonderful! |
That's great! You will love having more than one. Like everyone said just give Snickers extra attention and always greet him first. |
yes its boomer and karma... i didnt want to say right away until traci said something but i did want to get as many responses and ideas as possible before the weekend... but its not a big secret ;) i'm excited and they should be here monday... snickers has been an only child i am so excited that she will now have some new playmates to love and be with these two sound like darlings and they are beautiful and can't wait to add them to our family :D Everyone here has been really supportive and helpful since we have brought snickers into our family and i know that with such a supportive yorkie community these newest additions will have a comfortable transition i really appriciate all and any advice Thanks everyone!!! |
Just give them lots of space of their own. Make sure that they have beds so they aren't forced to share right away. They will all settle in so quickly. I have three on one large bed usually with one who always wants her own. I always buy toys and chews in multiples too. Now Me-Me collects them all. lol |
Aww hunny I just read the posts and I am so happy for you! Louie was aroung 8 monhs old when we brought Bells home and they bonded very quickly and are now the best little buddiess. They are such great company for each other and are so much fun to watch no matter what they are doing (playing, sleeping, ect.ect.) lol......Good luck to you and I know your gonna be a little busy at first giving all those babies extra love, but make sure you keep us posted on how everything is going. God Bless! |
Congratulations -- can't wait to see pics of your new babies! HURRY HURRY HURRY! |
patiently waiting... tomorrow is the day! we havent posted much because my computer is still down and i wont have it back until the end of this week but we will post pics as soon as we are up and running:D boomer and karma should arrive tomorrow afternoon and snickers just had her bath to be all nice n clean to meet her new friends!! talk to you all soon... |
Congrats! I'll be watching for your first post after they come home! How exciting! |
Congratulations! This is great news. I know you'll love having a house full of yorkies (who wouldn't?). I think the suggestion regarding having one large bed, and some smaller ones is a good idea. Depending on their mood, mine either sleep together or prefer to be alone. So I'd give them a choice. Good luck and can't wait to see pics.:aimeeyork |
