That's so exciting!!!!!! |
That is wonderful........congrats! |
The two ladies had a real rough time at first.....I hope they will beign to get long if they're introduced slowly....we ended up penning my two in the backyard before we left since they love it outside and having Snickers inside....I think it was a little much all at once.... Snickers and Boomer were pretty good though....Boomer is very chilled-out and mostly indifferent. Does anyone have experiences with fighting females and a good method to introduce them without having a realy fur fight? Let us know at the end of the week how they are adjusting!! :D |
Sometimes if you give all of them a bath in the same shampoo it will help them smell more like the same pack and might help the adjustment process along a little bit better. Congratulations on your new arrivals. |
wishing you all the best. |
Snicker's Mom: Maybe try a bath in Snicker's shampoo so they all smell like her.....I like that idea, easy and worth a try!!! :) |
When we added Abbie to our house Gracie was scared of her. They would have little incidents of barking and growling at each other. We brought in a trainer and low and behold she told us to let them fight......Gracie needed to assert her dominance over Abbie and that they should work it out on thier own. We have allowed that to happen and guess what the incidents are less frequent. The trainer told us that it could take months to have them fully acclimate to each other. Gracie or Abbie have never bitten or hurt each other its mostly just posturing one day they will decide who the boss is until then they will fight it out just like sisters |
hi everyone... i did give both a bath in snickers shampoo and conditioner... i had them all in the same room and made them all stop barking and growling and then treated them all... and that worked (for about 20min) then they needed to be seperated again this morning they were all in the same room for about 10min before there was a problem right now they are seperated (karma and boomer in the kitchen and bathroom areas and snickers has the living room area) any and all advice would be great as at one point they WERE biting at each other... it was the 1st day tho so it will take awhile and my neighbor used to have a few dogs and she was helping a bit too... the good news is we LOVE boomer and karma... the kids ADORE them and likewise for karma and boomer i think... they are very sweet :) we took them for a walk last night and gave them baths and lots of love... and we need to make this work between the pups so any/all advise would be GREAT! |
Yay! Just got updated on the whole rescue thing... I'm soooo happy for you! I'm sure they'll adjust in a little while. My mom's had a German Sheperd, then got a little Yorkie... The Sheperd was already around 15 years old but it took really little time for them to start getting along. I think it'll be even easier with your situation since they're all same size/ about same age and you'll have 3 playbuddies.... Wow, can't even imagine :D . It must be quite a transition between one and 3 at a time. |
My yorkies favorite bed is a tiny bed that was made for a small stuffed animal. I put it on the desk in the office while I'm on the computer and Me-Me lays in it. It's so funny to see our Chloe who is 8 or 9 pounds squeeze into it. Right now Me-Me and Cupie are in it. They just have to be with their mommy now matter what I'm doing. I love it too! Best twenty five cents I've ever spent. lol |
I have no doubt that they LOVE being wth you guys too! They are total lovers, so they are content with anyone that will give them love and attention, which is what you and your family has done for them! I think once they all realize this is a forever deal and not just a visit, they will be learning to co-exist. I am sure there is a battle for dominance going on between all of them. Boomer and Karma had their relationship pretty well worked out, but it took them a long time too! Tell me: is Boomer biting too (!!) or just doing that crazy loud squealing bark? :) |

i think ALL the dogs were getting a lil freaked out with all the barking and growling so we gave them all a break they are totally seperated right now (karma and boomer are together of course) and will be for today that way karma and boomer could settle in better and get to know us (and they really have since the seperation) and snickers had a chance to calm down and realize we still love her too... friday i am off all day and my mom is going to meet me at the park with karma and boomer (its right down the street we are going to walk there) and i will have snickers and let them meet on "nuetral" ground.... also we have been getting lots of advice on letting them run the house and have snickers not in there and then letting snickers have the run of the house and not have them there and then they will get used to each other smell boomer IS biting at her he actually was the instigater the last few times... it seems (with ALL the dogs) if it isnt one starting it - its one of the other ones i will see our trainer for snickers tomorrow nite too i am sure she can help:) |
that's a great idea.....let me know how that meeting goes! karma and boomer used to fight all of the time.....growling and biting, but you could always tell they were playing, not really biting down, so it was never an issue.....just sounded like a train coming thru.... i hope everything goes well today! |
