Hello All this is my first time here Does anyone know where we can get a tiny Yorkie for less than $400? We really want to get one but my hubby says it has to be lower than $400. Thanks Heather:( :) |
Hello,Welcome to YT, I don't know the answer, but around here you pay $800.00 for a male more for a female.Best wishes, Good Luck |
If you want a HEALTHY, tiny yorkie. No. Unless you are interested in rescue and those are usually bigger and older and rescue organizations usually have some stringent requirements and some require fenced yards and home visits. |
I dont think you'll find that anywhere. I'm pretty positive you wouldnt around here. goodluck on your search tho. |
I think about the only place you will find a yorkie for under $400 is a rescue. Good luck with your search! |
Hey guys! I just noticed that she's just a heartbeat away from Chancey/Clancey! I just noticed Chancey/Clancey has prospective parents coming tonight. |
Isn't Bentonville where Chancie is? Maybe there are other yorkies there. If you are limited in what you can spend on one, then you might want to check some of the threads here. The smaller babies seem to have more of a chance of developing health problems. Maybe you should look into a little bigger one. While not guaranteed, there may be less risks of health issues. A rescue would be a little older and if there were any problems, you would be made aware of them. I think you should spend some time doing research on YT. It is very helpful and will give you an idea of what to expect. Good luck in your search. Whatever you spend for one, they will be worth far more.:) |

Welcome Hi welcome to Yorkie talk:D I hope that you will do lots of reading up on Yorkies that are tiny before you deside to buy. I was lucky and have a 5 pound girl that my mom gave me free. I also have a 6.9 pound lil guy. She is more danty and not as agile as he is. that is the only diff in them but I have heard terrible things that can go wrong heathwise with the tiny ones. hope for you the best. and a gain welcome to YT :) |
Welcome Heather, Try checking periodically the Yorkie Rescue & New Homes needed forum. Sometimes they have smaller ones there. Keeping in that price range it will be hard to find a very tiny Yorkie. There are bigger ones out there that need good homes too! Best of luck to you. |
hello and welcome to YT you will find alot of helpful info here exspecialy on tineys.....i also wanted a smaller yorkie until i done some research on here....the only thing is i had already bought my baby but i have been lucky so far i think he will get to be around 5.5 pounds so i am sooooo glad of that......i dont know about getting a yorkie for under 4oo they are most of the time pretty high on prices but trust me yu get what you pay for and i am sure if your hubby is willing to spend a little more he will be glad he did once he sees the baby you get....i know my hubby wouldnt trafe our Bo for a million dollars (for real)...... he loves him as much if not more (i dont think thats possiable) than i do.....good luck in yur search for a baby i hope all turns out well for you and you find the baby thats right for you and your budget *hugs* |
Good luck finding a 'tiny' for that price. Have you considered adopting an older yorkie ? There's a For Sale section here and a RESCUE section. |
Your best bet will either be a larger yorkie, which are still WAY small, or a rescue. My parents and grandparents both got their yorkies for $350. They are 12lbs and 10lbs but are still small enough to take EVERYWHERE. But, the good thing about them is that you don't have to worry about hypoglocemia, them getting stepped on, ect. ect. My parents are looking to getting a 2nd yorkie to add to their furfamily, but they are specifically looking for one larger than the standard (over 7 lbs). My dad spends a lot of time with their yorkie, and he just prefers the bigger ones because they aren't so delicate. A lot of times with tinies you run into health issues. Also, they are quite prone to hypoglocemia which has been known to cause quite a few deaths in the little ones. :( |
I wouldn't limit my search to looking for a very tiny yorkie. Often, they are bred sort of maliciously to produce the smallest, not necessarily healthiest, dog possible. There are many threads on her discussing tiny yorkies or "teacup" (pains me to type that word) yorkies. You should really research it before attempting to buy one. They are a big responsibility - more so than a yorkie within breed standard. To find a baby under $400 is going to be hard! I would definetly check into rescue organizations like Petfinder.com or check the For Sale or Wanted threads on here. Good luck. |
