Ooh, I know what you mean. I bought a new car when I was 20 (my dream car @ the time). I saved every penny I earned to get that car. I was living at home at the time & when my dad sold his boat, I was the only one home when the guy came & got it. He said, "Is that your car? Your Dad must really love you to get that for you" I said, "Yes, my dad really loves me, but I bought and paid for that car with my OWN money...I do have a job". I was so mad. He didn't have anything to say after that. As for the other comments, I don't usually get them at my apts because most people around here are scared of dogs, but I get them at work from customers & stuff because I've got a pic on my desk. But I REFUSE to get rid of my picture. Everyone else has pics of their kids, why can't I? |
I had someone ask me once what I paid for Sadie...I just told them that Yorkies are not a cheap breed and left it at that. People don't usually ask me what I paid for my furbabies...I think it is rather rude for someone to come up to you and ask...And if I want something bad enough no price is too much! |
It doesn't bother me anymore. I just call them my million dollar babies. Now everyone asks, when talking about my girls, How are the million dollar babies doing? LOL |
i hate it when people ask me... i am usually vague HOWEVER my bf just LOVES to tell ppl the amt i brought her home for... following that up with "isnt that crazy" i keep thinking i should come back with... if it counts i wouldnt pay that much for YOU lol |
The only person who has asked how much they cost is my rude neighbor and she asks how much everything costs |

Why are Yorkie owners sooooooooooooooooo sensitive???? Yorkies are expensive, and there are a lot of people who can't afford them. This doesn't necessarily mean that they have less money than we do - but rather that they have different responsibilities and priorities than you or I might have. For sure - these same people probably have some things that we don't have and many things that we might say we "can't afford." I have a Bichon and a Yorkie (and my Bichon cost more than my Yorkie). People are constantly telling me that they couldn't afford either of these two dogs. Why would anyone possibly say they can't afford a Yorkie or any other breed to make me feel guilty???? I am not referring especially to this thread - but to many that constantly come up. -- seems to me like Yorkie owners just go around with a chip on their shoulder - and are constantly being offended by remarks that people make to them about their dogs. It's almost as though you'd better stay away from anyone with a Yorkie unless all you can say is "What a cute little dog." You can't comment on their being "very small" or "being large" or "a different color" than most of the Yorkie's you've seen. Don't comment on the ears - if they are "floppy" and aren't standing straight up. Don't ask to hold them. Don't ask them to leave if they are someplace where "dogs aren't allowed," etc. etc. etc. I don't know any other breed whose owners are so sensitive and so easily offended by remarks that other people make. It's too bad we can't just enjoy our dogs the way most people do. PS: Everyone isn't this way. I know most of you are like me. We just take our little dogs out and around and enjoy having them. We get all sorts of comments and remarks, we answer questions, and we have fun along the way. Whatever! I just can't understand why so many Yorkie owners behave this way. Carol Jean |

My hubby doesn't mind telling ppl how much our baby was. He always says we got her on sale. In all truthfulness we did but other ppl don't need to be so rude about it. As far as how much I would pay for him well he his wedding band was about the same price as our baby. He knows better than to say something like that because no matter how much he picks on how small she is, every day when he comes home from work he picks her up and lets her lick his chin and she can always get him to talk to her in baby talk. lol its so sweet!!!:p [/FONT] |
