Hubby/pet issues :) Does anyone else have this problem? My hubby has hunting, fishing, boating, anything outdoors related, shooting guns, shooting arrows and a friend to do it all with. Me? Never had hobbies, so I've taken to breeding. My husband offers no support at all. And complains about it all the time about the costs etc.... So I finally get into something "I" enjoy, and there is no support, but I've sat back and support all his activities. Whats up with that??? Men:thumbdown Can't live with 'em, can't live without them!!!!!:D |
I know EXACTLY what you mean! My hubby does the same thing...hunting, fishing, anything outdoors. He has to buy so much crap to do all that stuff. But the second I want to buy something for my babies, he pitches a fit. It makes me so angry  I'm in a fight right now with hubby, so I'm extra-pissed right now! I do it anyway...if he wants to divorce me, fine. But I have a job and he's not going to tell me what to do with my money when I wake up and go to work everyday! |

You need to be saying this to him, not us. Does he ask your permission to hunt or fish or buy new Rods and reels? If not then why do you need his permission to fulfill your hobby. Your hobby should at least support itself. My first husband was like that, it was all about him. He never supported me in anything, including getting an education. My current husband never says NO to anything I want. But I don't take advantage of that, I am a sensible person. I know what we can afford. Ask your husband if he wants to be referred to as your "first husband". LOL |

Yeah, I just had a 300.00 vet bill:eek: for my 14 year old cat and he blew a gasket at me. Like it was my fault???? But he just bought a boat??? He has a canoe, a kayak...etc....the list goes on. Oh and I hear ALL the time how my animals a ruining our house and he's not going to finish finishing the basement now cuz why? They will just pee, poop and puke on it. But yet he loves them too. I just stopped telling him stuff. I just bought everyone Kongs and filler for them, but didn't tell him. Why? Cuz he'll just %itch. But if he needs to buy bullets to go shooting this weekend, or fishing stuff? Ohhhhhh, that no big deal. He uses my dogs as amo to by stuff too, claiming I spend way much more on them then he'd ever spend on his stuff. WHATEVER. I finally get a hobby that I enjoy. I just wish I could have some support from him, ya know? Oh boy....! I just went on and on!!! Ha-ha SORRRY!:D |
Oh I'm just venting :) I love my hubby to death. I don't have anyone around in my life that LOVES animals like I do. So I really have no one to share this with. Thanks for listening! |

I had a $300 vet bill the other day, too, and hubby pitched a damn fit like a little 2 year old. I told him to stop acting like a toddler! He made me change vets, though...said my old one was taking advantage of me...and they probably were, but I just don't like being told what to do! I want to make that decision for myself! My hubby sounds EXACTLY like yours! We should make them move in together and we can move in together! :p |
I feel that way, but with my mom and sister. Anything that I am interested in, my mom criticizes me for it and won't support me at all. But if it's something for my sister, the whole world stops. I honestly feel like my sister is her favorite, and the past year my mom and I have been fighting nonstop because of this. For my bday I wanted a coach purse, and asked her to take me to the Coach OUTLET and let me pick one out. She said no because it was too far (2hrs), yet the next weekend she drove my sister 4hrs for a bowling tournament! And I know money wasn't the issue, because she said "I'll jsut give you the money and you can go yourself"..but I really wanted her to come with me, so we can spend time together. It hurts a lot, but I think it's something I will have to accept. :( As for your husband though, I really like JeanieK's idea :) Maybe try showing no interest in his interests, and let him know how you feel. Other then that I have no advice, I wish I did, but if I did I wouldn't have the same problem with my mom. |
I know exactly what your talking about! Mine is into guns, man is that an expensive hobby! I can't go shopping, but he can buy a $1000 dollar gun, that we DON'T NEED! Or if the dog has to go to the vet, (this happened recently) and her bill is $120 dollars, I get balled out. Like I just wanted to give the vet $120 dollars. I love him to death, but its a little hypocritical. |
I can relate ........... My husband never complains about the vet bills or how much I spend on the dog food / toys but he is a little upset with me right now for getting a 4th dog. He just doesn't understand how much joy and love they bring to my life. I just wish he loved them like I do. He pets them for a few minutes after getting home from work and that's about all the attention they get from him. My husband's hobby is golf and that is expensive. Maybe that's why he never complains about the cost. I think he is jealous of them though because they get all my attention. Poor hubby LOL. |

Do like I did when I divorced my first husband. He had all the outdoor stuff you list along with playing in a band. He had 24 hours to remove his personal belongings and when he didn't [he didn't think I'd do anything:p ] I took his electric piano apart with my cuticle scissors, loaded up all his guns, ammo, electric guitars, etc. and went to the PAWNSHOP :angel2dl: When I got home with the money, I burned his clothes in the woodheater, put what tools and crap I didn't sell on the side of the curb, and took a sledgehammer to his ski boat. That still didn't relieve all the ANGER I had built up so I poured all his cologne down the sink (that's all that was left!) When he showed up a WEEK later to collect his belongings, I just looked at him and said "What stuff?" Needless to say, after that it got UGLY! |
