The vet assured us that even though his breathing and heartrate may have slowed down that dogs rarely every die from a seizure.
It might have been the pig ear also. I stopped giving my yorkie and maltese any pig ears, rawhide or greenies. His treat is cheerios and my maltese gets liver treats. I know exactly what you must of been feeling. I thought my baby was going to die and I kept telling him that he was NOT leaving me yet!
How old is your furbaby?
Gennel | Dennis is 1.5 years old. If it happens again I will believe it was a seizure but I really want to believe that when I picked him up he was already in the process of vomiting and not all got expelled which caused him to have a blocked airway. The Vet seemed to also think this very plausible. It makes sense also because a seizure just comes on suddenly and he was feeling sick for a couple of hours before this episode. Plus, he did not shake and did not loose bowel movement, just could not stand and he did not seem to be able to breathe. It really felt like he was dying! It could not have been the pigs ears either because he had not had any for 3 days, I took them away when Sahara got sick.
God I am sorry to hear your story and yes we both know how scary it is. I am still having anxiety attacks and have lost 10 pounds from all the worry. I am taking Sahara back to the Vet today because she has a little cough….. Does it ever end! She is eating, drinking, and playing but I am not taking any chances. Sahara is only a puppy, 14 weeks Saturday and though she checked out fine on Tuesday’s, (first visit) she has to go back.
Will talk to the Vet again about Dennis even though he is just fine now! |
