I agree with Lacy's Mom. The red flags I see are that there are no AKC papers and the parents are not on site, especially the mom. She says she can email pics, but unfortunately, you won't know for sure if the ones she sends you are actually the parents. If she's selling it without papers at a lower price, then I wouldn't think as much about it, but why does she say she doesn't have papers? I definitely would take him to the vet and see how that goes. |
Red flags: 1 - Not having at least the Mom on the premises. 2 - The puppy not being with the owner of the Mom. 3 - The puppy being over the Yorkie standard in weight. 4 - no registration papers (little flag) 3 major red flags and I haven't even heard the price or seen a picture, too many in my book. Don't get in a hurry - you will have your baby for many years, make sure you get what you want in size, quality and health. |

Then that might be a good sign. Do what your heart tells you. If you feel comfortable with this woman and the pup is right for you, then go for it. I on the other hand wanted a yorkie so bad that I did not do my homework and even though I have ckc paper stating that mine is purebred. I have doubts. I am not saying that the pup isn't purbred I am just using that as a reference. I wish I found yt before I paid top dollar for my pup. If I knew what to look for I probably would not of gotten her and that would have been a big mistake, she is the best dog ever. Just go with your feelings and hope that when you take him to the vet that he is healthy. All the luck to you. Keep us posted |

All I can do right now is pray and hope the vet gives me thumbs up. I will keep you posted |
If you are concerned just make sure you get a health guarantee and take him to the vet. I bought a put about a month ago took her to the vet and she had a heart murmur my vet advised me to return her so I did. Actually got another pup from the same breeder but before going to pick her up the breeder called me back asking me if I wanting the first pup I had returned because she wasn't going to try and sell her she just wanted her to have a good home so that's how I ended up with two new baby's. |
I agree that tere are some red flags about this breeder. And I woul definitely take the puppy to the vet. Also, is she offering a starter pack? Most good breeders do, it's usually food kit, all the necessary papers, with the bith paper as well and vaccinations record. Also, a favorite toy or a blankie, just to ease the transition to forever home. And as to the puppy being mellow, mine used to be as well. There were 2 other crazy ones, they would hardly stay on my lap. And the girl wasn't responding to me and my husband the way curious puppies do. The third boy was a little curious, and a little playful. Also, stayed on my lap a little longer. And I fell in love... Now (sigh), after not even 3 weeks, he wakes up before 7 and doesn't really stop running and getting into trouble till evening... :) . I'm having kinda hard time to get him to stay still for his daily grooming. :D Good luck and give us update! |

You can also check the A list and the B list of USDA breeders which simply means they breed on a large scale. http://www.aphis.usda.gov/ac/publica...rt_holders.txt http://www.aphis.usda.gov/ac/publica...rt_holders.txt |
