Did you walk your yorkie today??? I'm about to log off  so that I can take Ginger for a walk. I try to walk her 2 x's each day, but sometimes don't manage. It got me thinking...how often and for how long do you walk your yorkie??? |
I have really started making a comittment to walk my 2 twice a day...once in the morning right when they wake up before I get ready for work, and once in the evening. I really want to stick to it for their sake. They really love those walks! |
That's what I try to do. Of course that am walk falls apart in the winter when it's still dark when I'm supposed to be getting ready! |
Lol, I haven't walked Zoey in a week! She's too busy playing with my dad in the yard. :) |
i try to walk gracie right before it gets dark b/c it is just too hott over here the heat index today was 100 something and all that humidity she plays in the house more! |
:D I love the walk as much as he does, once at 8:30am before work and then he gets dropped of at my mom's who babysits and she sits outside with him thru out the day. I'm lucky to have her watch him for me ,and then I take him for a walk in the park down the street with his doggy friend who lives next door to my mom's house....then he is ready to go home and he sleeps, like he's the one who works hard.......doggy day care is RUFF...LOL LOL:) |
I can't walk Peeka yet cause he's to little but i can't wait untill i can |
Usually around the block once or twice a day. |
Twice a day! In the morning we walk two miles at about 6 or 6:30 a.m. In the late evening, we take a shorter walk. P.S. She wakes me up in the morning for her walk.:D |
I try and walk Cali and Maya each day for a mile, but I end up carrying my 12 lb Pom all the way back and lately Cali wants to be carried. So I ordered a stroller! |
Chizzie and I are going for our training loose lead walking right after dinner :) |

I just ordered a stroller too! I always said I would never do it... But I recently broke my arm and it is hard to carry 2 Yorkie's, no matter how little they are. Chloe does outings with me many times a week. Sissy goes only twice or so. I am waiting on delivery of my stroller and hoping it is here before Sunday. We are going to our first Yorkie Meet Up on Sunday afternoon:aimeeyork X15 or 20!! I walk mine only once a day (they are learning to walk on the double lead)and that walk is only if they didn't go to work that day. If they went to work, they've walked enough at work, then going to the yard with me once a day is enough and we sit on the front porch at night. Sitting out their seems to be the happiest time for them after a full day at work. Just like 2 little old lady's, they sit at the end and watch everyone on the block and see what they're doing. Nothing gets past them!:p Now if you asked how many times a day would "they" like to walk... Then in that case we would never stop walking, my girls are confused and think they are outside dogs!!!! |
My little ones get walked three times a day. But, not farther than 1/4 of a mile. I don't think their little legs or hearts could take much more than that with the heat and all... |
During the week we go for a short walk in the morning before work and then when I get home we walk about a mile. In the winter I only take them out in the evening if it's not too cold and bundle them up in tshirts and coats :) They love to play in the snow!! |
Oh goll-- I am horrible! (Don't tell Keeley that your babies are going twice! He'd never forgive me!) We go on "designated walks" about 1-2 times a week. We do go to the park and play (under the shade of the trees) quite often and I make sure to play with him indoors. For exercise. But it has been SO dang hot here. After a few laps around the apartment complex he is so over heated it makes me nervous. Now that fall is coming we'll be walking a lot more. |
Alright you guys! Quit using the heat as an excuse not to walk those babies! It isn't hot at 6 or 6:30 in the morning. If I have to get up at that hour to go for a walk, the rest of you should have to get up, too!:D |
Hootie wakes me up every single morning between 5 and 6 to go on a walk!!!!!! If I just take her outside to potty without walking her and then get back in the bed, she won't let me go back to sleep. She will jump on my face, chew my hair, "dig" on my tummy...she is one crazy chick! At least someone makes my lazy butt get out of bed. I've definately been on time to work everyday since we got Hootie! :p |
i walk lexi in the morning and twice when i get home from work...she needs it and so do i |
I walk Rose everyday and almost never miss a day. It's so much fun to watch her out there. |
How do you guys get away without walking your furbabies? Do they go on a pad? Buddy gets walked 4x a day. Hot or cold we are out there. He does not ever go in the house. At 6:00, 8:10 am before I leave, 5:30 when I get home and 10:00 pm. Each walk is at least 15min. The 5:30 one is 25mins. He get to visit all his buddies outside. They are all walking at that time. He loves to walk but in the heat he wants too but his body says lets go home. He wears a t-shirt under his fur lined coat in the very cold weather and I carry him so his feet do not get frozen. But outside he goes to potty. I have to say I envy you who do not have to get up in the freezing cold at 10:00pm and put on a coat, scarf, gloves and boots after being snuggled up under a down conforter watching TV. It is not easy! |
I walk Cid, the 13 year old about a half mile and sometimes I have to carry him half way, breaks my heart to see him slowing down. Scooter needs a mile walk. SInce it has been so dang hot here in Texas, I hose them down pretty well before walking so they wont be so hot. Sam, the 10 week old will walk the half mile with Cidney and keeps up really well being as small as he is. |
I usually take my yorkie out for walks twice a day.Once right after i wake up for about 1 hour and then in the evening around 7:30-8:00pm for an another hour. |

We dont take Maddie on walks everyday... I've been feeling guilty for it too. I just told my daughter the other day that we need to start making it a point to take her for daily walks. She loves to get out in the back yard and play like crazy...but she does need her walks too. |
Maddie is potty trained to go outside too. We have a nice big fenced in yard. She gets out there and runs all around with my 2 year old and she has recently made friends with baby bunnies. The will chase each other around... its really cute. |
To those who have their furbabies go outside, how old are they? and do they roam free the rest of the day or are they in a crate? I'm new here and only have my yorkie poo for a week, although she is 14 months old. Thanks |
I walk Britney and Brooklyn three times a day (early morning, 5ish, and before bed), just around the block. Also, I try to take them to the park at least once every 3 days or so. :) |

I feel really rotten to say that Maddie has not been walked much at all lately. My leg is giving me problems from when I was in a car accident and I am not to walk the hills, and we live on a hill. So, in order to walk, I need to drive down the hill and park and then walk. It just seems like such a hassle. I wish we didn't live on a hill because I love to walk, and I guess I'll have to get back in the groove of things and maybe it would even help my leg. Maddie gets lots of exercise inside and out, but I know she loves her walks. |
