Is this a yorkie thing? Both of my females do this when they eat- take a piece of food, run over to their favorite spot, eat that one piece of food, then run back and do it over again. I swear they run it off before they get to eat the next bite! It's only my girls that do this, the boys just stand in front of the dish and eat, when they are done they walk away. It's soooo funny to watch them eat... :p Does anyone else's do this? |
Sammi does this too!! In order for me to get her to eat her dry food, I have to sit on the kitchen floor with it and slide them on the floor one at a time...she goes after it tosses it around with her nose then eats it...I am going to get it on tape soon :) |
Remmy my male does this...Silk does it but not as much...she pretty much eats at the bowl..and man can she burp...everytime she comes over after eating and burps at me. |
Maddie does that to, except she get a mouth full and takes it to the rug and then her and Rudy eat it. Rudy is a typical man waits for the women to bring him the food. lol |
It's not just a Yorkie thing, my Maltese does this all the time! He always has to take his kibble out in the hallway to eat it on the carpet. Sometimes he'll take 3-4 pieces with him so he doesn't have to go back as much. It still cracks me up. |
She-ra does it, but she jumps on it, rolls on, etc before she eats it...EVERY piece in the bowl. Will drive you nuts!!! :p |
LOL Bentley does the same thing! I can always tell when he's eating his food cause all of a sudden he goes zooming from his food bowl on one side of the room to the carpet on the other! Its so funny cause he runs so fast over to the carpet to eat like 2 pieces of food then runs back! Must be a yorkie thing! But it is sooo cute!!! |
my puppy is really picky about eating. I sit next to her and every time she runs off i grab her and put her back at her bowl. She is getting better gradually she runs off a little less each time. I just don't understand why she is so picky eating her hard food, cause if i put canned food in there she doesn't lift her head from her bowl and eats ALL of it...but if it is just dry food she only eats a little bit... |
Newf will do this sometimes too. If he is really hungry he will stand above the bowl and eat it all up, but if he is not so hungry he will take a few kibbles in his mouth, drop it on the carpet and eat it one by one. He used to always take his treats too and run with it and put it down somewhere and then come back looking for more. We finally figured it out what he was doing. So now he will just take a treat and eat it there because he realizes he is not gonna get more to hide for later!!!! :) |
Tia does this too - she HAS to eat on the carpet! Cracks us up! |
My girl does it, but my boy does not. I always thought it was because she was the runt of her litter and had to pull her food away from her brothers & sisters when they were eating together because she'd get trampled. I always look for the psychological answer for everything!!! |
Magic does this sometimes, she will only eat her food in her spot and will refuse anywhere else...we are really trying to break this habit as to get her to eat in the kitchen with her sister...but it hard to see them not eat...she is doing better though so we'll see....yorkies sure do have a personality!!! |
jumpin paper My guy Gunstar did this and Panzer did it for a little while. I came across the freak chance of finding out that if I dumped a handful of dry food on a crumpled like shipping envelop or something like it, that when they stepped on it it mad the food jump and move and they would stay in one place and eat... Just jumping on the paper and stuff. My boyfriend also has a 80lb golden lab who does this and hes the worst. he takes a mouthful walks about three steps and drops the food on the new floor and eats it. |
Stewie eats everything on the carpet. My brother's Shar Pei does it too, so I don't think we're alone. |
Yep, mom's dog doxie/chi mix grabs a mouthful and goes to the other side of the house, in the living room to eat it and all the way back, and so on!! |
