| I am so mad! A really good friend of mine has 2 beautiful dogs, a Bischon and a s**tzu (sp?) After being around Jasmine she and her husband decided they wanted a Yorkie also. They are completely remodeling parts of their home and already committed to putting in a new pool so didn't want to spend a lot of money right now. I saw an ad in the paper that advertised Yorkies for sale for $350 which for around here is a good price but not really cheap. I told her about it and she wanted to go look at them. When we walked in the house we both almost fainted from the dog smell and dirtiness of the place. They probably had 15 or 20 Yorkies in their house running everywhere. My friend asked about the dogs and prices and of course they only had one for $350 and it had been sold. We talked for a while and my friend was about to leave when they suddenly remembered one other that they might sell for that price. It was a cute little male that they said was recovering from a fungus from the grass, but it was healed up and the hair he had lost was growing back so where wasn't a problem. She bought the little guy (he was adorable). She took him to the vet the next day for a complete check up and he said it was probably a fungus and the other dogs wouldn't get it yada yada yada. The puppy played with her other dogs and I took Jasmine over there to play with him. A week later, he started losing more hair and looked worse. She took him back to the vet clinic and another vet saw him and said he had "ringworm" which can be contagious and to keep him quarantined and away from other dogs. My friend is just furious and feels the breeder probably knew the dog had ring worm. She has now spent another $250 or so on the dog so it wasn't a bargain after all. We are both worried that our other dogs may get ringworm. She thought about taking him back but they were in love with the little guy and couldn't give him up. I feel responsible because I'm the one who told her about this breeder. What a mess! |

| I would be irritated too.....But looking on the bright side, ringworm is cureable. There was just a post on here yesterday about ringworm in pets...unfortunately its just something they can get. But that's not to say I wouldn't be fuming in your situation. I would try to get the breeder to reimburse the expense from the vet, since she HAD to know about it! I have to say, I cant believe that you all have yorkies around you for such a low price! When I shopped my area b4 getting my baby I found nothing under $900.00. |
