I had nyla bones and such and the only ones Kizzy ever seemed to like are pressed pork bones. Now already Kacee love to chew on them also. She is 8 weeks and I give her toys, she plays with Kizzys toys. Some have squeekers, some have stuffing but I make sure they do not have like sewed on eyes, noses or anything like that, that they can chew off and choke on. the stuffed toys I watch closely for seams to open so they cant pull out the stuffing inside. never had but one so far that did that. Kizzy loved it so I took the stuffing out and sewed the seam back up and now is flat and floppy and she loves it for me to throw and her to catch. And she can catch it. But I dont understand a normal person, much less a vet saying no toys for a puppy. You might be glad you changed vets.

Bullysticks are great, safe to chew (not like rawhide), and puppies/dogs love them. For the puppy's sake, I won't tell you what they really are;) but I will tell you that you can go to most pet stores and buy them. They will last you a long time!! Just be sure to supervise your pup when she is chewing on it. Rawhide should not be given to puppies or dogs until they are a year old or have all their adult teeth in and lost all their baby teeth. Other things you can try are the nylabones but mine don't like them or you can try other soft chews such as "better than ears" they are in the shape of pig ears, but they are better for them and not as hard, but hard enough for a puppy and your puppy will love them. I also give mine these teething treats that they absolutely love, you can get them at most pet stores and they are made specifically for puppies who are teething and there are alot of teething sticks in a pack, and I find them to be great for puppies that are teething!!:thumbup: :thumbup:

Why shouldn't you give rawide to puppies until they have all thier teeth in?

It can break their teeth, cause gum and teeth damage, and in many, puppies can't digest the rawhide very well and can get upset stomachs or get sick and a few other problems. That is the one thing that all my vet's agree on, no rawhide until they have their adult teeth in and lost all baby teeth.

I found some wonderful toys at Petsmart that are partly stuffed but also has an area that was flat and rubber so she could chew on.

I was never told that. I'll have to go and take their rawhide away from them. But they love them.

I never ever feed rawhide. Rawhide is the skin, minus the hair, of cows. A good portion of the fly and parasite control is a pour on liquid that soaks right into the skin. I have done a lot of reading about rawhide and I just don't think it is safe. Most rawhide chews are imported and who knows what type of chemicals they are allowed to use that we have deemed unsafe.

lol, since no one else will I'll be the one to tell you. I have to explain this to every new customer in our boutique b/c we sell free range bully sticks. It is a dried bull penis. There, i said it. BULL PENIS. lol I know, I know, it sounds totally and utterly gross. But these little guys go NUTS over them! They just love the things! And they are very safe for dogs of all ages. Just make sure once they chew it down to where it is small enough to be swallowed thagt you throw it away.

She is right about that. make sure you only buy FREE RANGE. That means all natural, no chemicals or pesticides, organic. Most specialty dog stores such as boutiques sell them.
