I always wondered this same question. I think they lick for the salt on are skin, cause I notice when I'm more sweaty, she wants to lick that sweat. but the BIG question is why do they lick up are NOSE ?????????? LOL |

Gia licks too, but the only time she licks herself is to clean herself after using potty....She'll lick me, my Mom, and my fiancé to death if you let her...she also likes to nibble on my fiancé's ears ...:D |

Roxie starting licking the rug, sheets etc.... about 6 months months ago and will lick until the sheet is one big wet spot, but now has moved to licking her legs/paws about a month ago. The only change I have made recently is adding a supplement to her food. Maybe I will discontinue that and see if that is the problem with licking herself. I like to think that Vivi licks me because she loves me. She will randomly look up at me when I am holding her and give me a kiss. If I am on the couch she will crawl up my body to kiss me on the face. She has always been a kisser and I picked her out of the other puppies because she made such an effort to kiss me. I love kissy dogs:) |
Remy will lick occasionally to my face but will lick strangers or friends right away, im assuming to just say hi to them or get their scent. I think its for attention or just kisses to show their appreciation. After they do something they think is bad, I heard its a way of making it up to you. When Remy knows I'm leaving for work, he'll lick me like crazy so I won't leave and when he wakes up, he also licks my face, I'm assuming for me to get up to play with him or just letting me know he's up. |
I have 2 lickers. I'm not sure why. They do lick more if your sweaty. |

I love when Coco gets really into it and won't let you move your head cause she's licking so fast. It's like those high school boyfriends that wouldn't let you breath...lol..She loves sticking her tongue in my nose in the wee hours of the morning and her favorite is to put her paws on my cheeks and proceed to make out :D I LOVE IT!!!!:p |
I love the kisses, but sometimes enough is enough! Sometimes I feel like I'm being licked to death. How do you stop them from licking so much? I've also heard that it's a way for them to release energy. |
Max is a licker. When he starts licking he doesn't stop..even when his tongue gets dry. I call him a little lover--he will kiss and kiss and kiss ANYBODY ANYWHERE. He's a little too free with his love. I'm glad he's neutered otherwise I'd be worried about him :eek: Abbie is the complete opposite. She's not 'easy' like Max :D. She is very selective in who and what she will kiss and it's always on her terms. If she doesn't feel like kissing, you could sit nose to nose with her for HOURS and she will not give you even a hint of a lick. She likes to snuggle..as long as she's close to you, she's happy. |
Kizzy loves to lick me especially just after I shower. I guess its the smell of my after bath or my lotion. She likes the lotion on my legs if I let her. |
