Shaking Uncontrollably help We have been outside today playing with Meg.. she has had plenty of water and everything but just about a half an hour ago once we were in the house I look over and she is just shaking, her whole body like shes terrified of something but thats not it. Anyone have any ideas... other than the shaking she acts fine. ???? |
Is your house air conditioned? It could be the dramatic change depending on the temperatures. I really wouldn't know what to do, but thats the only reason I can think of as to why she's shaking, or hypothermia? |
We have air conditioning and were only outside for about 45 min.. temps here are 85 degrees, and she had water. |
I would call the vet and see if they can give you over the phone advice. Better be safe than sorry. Hope she's OK though. Maybe she's just cold? |
hmm...maybe you should give her some honey or sugared water...maybe she overdid it in the sun and heat? If it doesn't stop and she doesn't seem like herself I would take her to the vet. Safe is safe. Good luck and keep us posted. Anita |

I think you should phone your Vet clinic for advice. |
I would call the vet! It may be some kind of seizure. I get them and it sounds like some I get sometime. |
she had plenty of shade, I would not have let her stay out that long intentionally if I knew this would happen, I love my furbaby and want nothing bad to happen to her so please dont jump to conclusions. Anyway we are taking her into the vet now.. post later and update.. Thanks for the help |

But with these small breed dogs, one does have to be a little more careful in temperature extremes whether heat or cold. You can't do or not do what you don't know and it is easy to think it is okay in the shade. Maybe it was but it can be very risky unless there is a bit of a cool breeze because even the surrounding air is hot in the shade on a hot humid no breeze day. We've had a record shattering heat wave here in my area almost a week now. I had to be pretty careful with my dogs especially because we aren't used to these high temperatures. |

Thank you for the advise, I will keep it in mind from now on when we go outside. And I just didnt want anyone to get the wrong impression cause I try to be the best mommy. |

No worries I am sure you are a good Mommy if you weren't you wouldn't have posted this thread;) Please keep us posted, hope your baby feels better soon. |
Hubby just called, the vet wants to keep her overnight.:cry2: She says that maybe Meg got into something that is poisonous to her, other than that she doesnt know. Now we are really scared.. we can't lose her. The vet is going to do some tests. I just hope that she will come out of this and be alright. |
I hope your baby is doing better soon. A while Back I had Cali at the vets and it was hot outside and she told me to be careful because these little ones have a hard time regualting their body tempretures especially in the heat. So hopefully it's just from the heat and she will be fine soon. We all love our babies so much and we would never do anything on purpose to harm them so sometimes we offer advice that is common sense but always with the best intentions. |
I hope your baby is okay. Please keep us updated. I had Sissy outside at an event yesterday for about 1 1/2 hours. It was only about 80 degrees outside and we spent lots of time in the shade (and she was being carried most of the time and had water). I totally forgot how easily she gets hot - just as easily as she gets cold. She was really worn out and fell right asleep in her car seat. Nutrical as soon as we got home along with some food. She was just fine - but I will be more cautious in the future. |
The vet said she was gonna put Meg on an IV of Valium to help stop the shaking. She is taking her home for the night to observe her. Hopefully the blood work will help. We are to call in the morning, so I will keep everyone updated. Again Thanks for the help and support |
I hope Meg is feeling better by morning and that you are able to bring her back home. It must be so hard being away from her overnight! I wish you the best of luck! |
oh poor baby - I just saw this and hope she's going to be ok !! |
Holy cow that's scary!!! I pray that she will make a full recovery and you'll have her home soon!! Please keep us updated! |
I hope everything turns out OK with her. You said the Vet is taking her home for the night............ummm maybe it's just a ploy because she's just a cutie! |
Just wanted to add my prayers for Meg. I hope she'll be okay...sounds like she's getting the best of care. :getwell: |
very very good luck to you and your meg. I sure hope she is ok. I know kizzy had a bad something one day and scared me half to death. She was throwing up, and then started shaking and had foamy stuff coming out her mouth. She had been outside just before also, but it was before it got so hot here. She apparently ate some kind of grass that did not agree with her but she was fine the next day. So I know how scary it is. So I just hope thats what your puppy might have done. I wonder sometimes if they get too close to the roots in the ground when they chew on grass and maybe the root part just makes them sick. makes sense to me. Anyway, be sure to let us know how Meg is. God Bless |
God bless.... |
How's Meg? Please let us know. My thoughts are with you! |
My prayers and thoughts are with you and your baby. Hopefully one night at the vets and she will be back with you. Is it possibel she got stung by a bee? |

I dont think she did, we didnt hear her yelp or anything. But I guess it could be a possibility. Thanks.. I will ask the vet if she can tell. Thanks |
Sounds like you have a great vet. At the very least, you can be confident that your little Meg is getting great care. I hope you get good news in the morning. Please post as soon as you know something. |
Sending our thoughts with your family tonight. It's great that you got her to the vet. Keep us posted on any updates. |
I hope Meg is fine! Did the vet say if her shaking stopped when he/she gave her the valium? I know that when I have a seizure and I get a shot of valium it stops. Let us know. |
I hope there weren't any mushrooms growing around the area that she was frequenting. This is a good resource for people who take their yorkies out in yards: http://acmepetco.com/geninfo.html |
