Please Help!!! OK...Mason is getting alittle too friendly with Mia. He's never seen a woman his size before but HOLY MOLY! It's gettting irritating. I taken the fly swater too him and still keeps on sniffing and trying ti do naughty things. I dont want him to feel like im favoring so what can i do?? ALSO...FOOD. Mason keeps trying to eat Mias food. I free feed them both, his food is in there too but only eats hers and his is to big to where i dont want her eating it!! PLEAsE HELP!! |
It is his nature to do "naughty things". Refrain from using a flyswatter on him. Use a belly band instead. He will probably still try but be unsuccessful. I would think that swatting him when he is doing what is in his nature, you are letting him know he is not supposed to be doing that and when you are ready to breed him, he might not for fear he will get swatted. How old is Mason and Mia? I would either quit free feeding them or feed Mia first, and then feed Mason. You could also feed in separate rooms. I am no expert, these are only suggestions. |

Are you going to be breeding either one of them? Just get him neutered. Once he's neutered you'll have nothing to worry about :) |

Your going to have to have one of them spayed or neutered anyway unless you want pups. Mason would do fine with the neutering |

I love how you refer to it as "Naughty things". I really like to help but I don't have experience with this problem. I do suggest to have them fixed. It would proling thier lives and makes your easier. Unless you want to breed. |
I agree, getting him neutured would be the wisest thing to do. This will probably mellow him out. I was scared to death when I got Kloeys (RIP) hernia removed, I cried and cried, but it was for the best. Now I have to do it all over again with Lillie, she will be getting spayed as soon as she is old enough, and I'm sure it will be just as hard, but it's for the best. make sure you get his blood tested to make sure he can have the anaesthesia. Good Luck! |
Instead of having to say, "Ooops, we were careful, yet Mia is going to have puppies", getting Mason fixed would be the most responsible thing to do. If you have a good Vet, talk to him and voice your concerns. Mason is young and should have no problems. I agree with the other posts, it would make your life and the furkids much better. |

Just remember w/ these procedures, they have the same risks as any other surgery w/ the anestia and all. Theres no need to worry more about a little puppy then a big dog or a person. Hope that helps ;) |
Ok..I get the point on neuturing.(no sarcasm is there i swear) However hes always in a band so im not real concerned right now. The food situation I request is the focal point. Any suggestions on that? |

There still might be that one time that he's not in a band though, and there are tons of other reasons to get your dog neutered that have already been posted on here. |

We always have to separate Chachi and Jewels when we give them their moist food or Chachi would eat Jewels. I just free feed the hard. |
Maybe im just a nervous mommy all over again. Hell leave the moist food alone usually. I watch it carefully but the dry food he gobbels up. I wouldnt mind it so much but Masons food is way to big for Mia.. Shes lost 3 oz. since Thursday. She is pooping ok though and eats ok. .Is that normal? I dont remember Mason doing that but Jeff swears he did too. Maybe im just being too protective . I worry alot when their little. |
I wouldnt worry about 3 oz but if she continues to lose weight I would take her to the vet. My two didnt lose any weight. |

It appears that he prefers the taste of her food to his. If you put the dry food in both dishes would he over eat and eat them both? Is there a problem with him eating the puppy food? Is he over weight? You said they are free eating right? |
If you are concerned about her getting his food, then I would suggest that his food be kept in a different area that she cannot get to. Camillek made a good point to consider. |
An Emergency C-Section, Unwanted pregnancy etc....are a lot more scarier that getting Mason neutered... Sorry, but please don't use the fly swatter..he isn't a nasty, pesky bug!! |

I always used to leave Max's food and water down until we got Abbie. She would eat her food and Max's--she was being a little piggy :D so we had to separate them during feeding time. I put Abbie in the ex-pen and gave her a bunch of toys to occupy her so Max had some free time to eat (he's a slow eater) After about 10 months she stopped trying to eat all of his food and drink his water and I am able to leave their food and water down all day. They are now able to just eat whenever they are hungry throughout the day. |

If he is old enough you don't want him eating the puppy food then he is old enough to be neutered.....If he is not old enough to neuter than there is no need to worry about them eating the same puppy food. The longer you wait the more problems you are going to have. Many people have given you great advice and still you want to go your own way, so why bother to ask. You are heading for a accident, you are mean to hit your dog with anything and next time roll the news paper up and hit yourself in the head, or fly swatter. Sorry but you should never hit any dog , or children, there is always a better way. It is a least smart of you to ask people here as many of them have great advice to give, but it doesn't help if you are not planning to listen. Debbie Ray www.sumtoiyorkies.com |
