Has anyone ever seen a red yorkie? 1 Attachment(s) Hey, I was wondering is anyone has ever seen a red yorkie before? My female had 3 puppies last month. Two of them are regular black and gold but one is solid red all over. I Googled to see if I could find any like her but all I found were chocolates with liver noses and her nose is black. I know for a fact that she isnt mixed along the line. Let me know what ya'll think. And sorry about the bad picture!! It's harder than it looks :D |
I think a yt member on here named Julz has some. There sooooo cute!!:D |
They're beautiful! I haven't seen a totally red yorkie, but I've seen photos of ones who have alot of red mixed in with the gold. |
she almost looks blond to me. what sweet little doll faces they have! Adorable! |
Wow - Julz will love seeing this - she is the member who had Red yorkies last year - here is the update she just posted of her yorkies - With Pictures - http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...highlight=julz |
She sure is cute. Both parent must carry that recessive gene. If you mated the same two again you'd probably get another one. There probably isn't too much information out there on them because it would be considered an undesireable trait. In the past, and perhaps even some breeders today would have culled it when it was born. They probably would not have wanted anyone to even know about it, especially if it happened in their champion line. Are you planning to keep her? If you plan to sell her, please let me know. |
Such a beautiful color. I've never seen anything like it before! Almost strawberry blonde. Looks just like the color of my daughters hair! They are just too cute! :p |
Awwwwww... such beauties! Love the color! :) |

What a beautiful color. My two gave birth to 4 normal color babies and one chocolate. We kept her and she is a doll baby. Your babies are gorgeous!! :) |
I sure am glad to see that you all think she is as pretty as I do. We havent decided if we're going to keep her or not yet. Even though we have enough Im still tempted to keep her. I do plan to sell the others but I really wasnt sure what would be a reasonable amount to ask for her. I dont know if people will think its undesirable or just special. What would you ask for her? Thanks for all the positive replies so far. |
I don't have any idea about pricing, but I sure wished you lived closer because I'd love to have her.:) |

I don't think iit is done any more. Now they would just spay/neuter and sell them as pets. But breeders in the past wsould not want anyone to know thst their champion dog had sired a puppy that didn't meet with the standards. It would have severly damaged the reputation of their kennel. |

"Those that advertise this color as RARE are being dishonest in that they are just trying to enrich themselves with more money, in spite of the lack of pigment in the dogs they produce which could bring a genetic nightmare to the breed. Don't be taken in by this false advertising." http://www.shooterdog.com/alexfaq3.htm |
awwww i think she is Gorgeous! i wish i lived closer to you i would buy her. |
this is a chocolate Yorkie and not at all desireable. The parents that produced this pup should not be bred again to each other. You can breed your bitch to a different male if you want to but both parents are carriers for this gene. Remember the breed standard for the Yorkie, chocolate is not in that standard. If you keep her have her spayed and enjoy her as a pet. A reputable breeder if they decided not to keep her as their own spayed pet, would either give her to a good friend or relative that wanted her, spayed of course, never to be bred or if you want to sell her do so at a much reduced price being sure she won't be bred. No, reputable breeders don't drown them, they don't have them put down, they do revamp their breeding program to make darn sure it never happens again and would never sell them for big bucks as 'rare'. |
