Help me with the Pros and Cons? Okay you guys. I already have a 8 month old little boy named Murphy who I absolutely LOVE. But I feel bad for him being at home by himself while I am at work so I was THINKING of another Yorkie for him to play with while I am gone. Plus I love him so another one would just be a bonus. This is the thing. I have put off another one because when we are with Murphy he goes every where with us just on the work days he is alone. Even then my hubby takes him on errands with him and to job sites occasionally (since he is self employed). I know if I got another one it would mean taking two around and I am not sure I could do that so much. I know my Murphy is happy and totally SPOILED so would bringing another one in just make him jealous or would it be good for him. He is already very well socialized - he has tons of play dates and tons of doggie friends. So.....what do you guys have to say about the pros and cons of owning one versus two? |
definitely all pros :D They play with each other and entertain each other when you don't have the time for them    The puppy will eventually be friends with Murphy's friends . . .but do get a girl :D :D :D so you can have fun dressing up. Has hubby said yes? If you are concerned about bringing stud muffin everywhere, you can certainly bring the other one as well. Get a lookout console for the backseat big enough for 2 dogs and I can supply the coupler for free :D The only cons is that it'll cost more $$$$$$$ but who cares . . . |

More Puppies! Double the fun...double the pleasure...(double the work..but hey) Francie:) |
I think there are pro's and con's. I've been trying to convince my hubbie to let me get another. I work from home so Jaxon isn't alone too often. But I think he'd love a little sister to play with, plus I'd get to dress her up. Hubbie says - double the vet bills, double the food, double the cost when traveling (by plane), and double the poop!!! I am still working on him as this stuff doesn't seem bad to me. Just not sure how I'd fit another Yorkie on my lap while I'm working. :D |
I have two. I have a male and a female so i have the best of both. They keep each other company and one would be lost without the other one. It is more expensive with two but i dont really notice the extra cost. They potty trained each other together. |

If I did get another one I would get a girl because those girly things you make are just too cute. I am going to talk to hubby about it this weekend and see if I can persuade him without pissing him off. We will see – I just wanted to see what you guys said – thanks for the advice as always. Also Des you are way too sweet – I would definitely need a care seat for two. :D |

i just got another yorkie about 3 weeks ago besides eating each others food sometimes i don't see any cons except the puppy isn't potty trained yet but having an older yorkie who is helps alot! i say go for it! they aren't soo big so carrying 2 around isn't really difficult matter of fact i can carry both of mine u with one arm . they love each other even if the older one acts like she doesn't at times if you seperate them or pick him up where she can't see him she instantly looks for him!! so princess & truffle say yay go for it!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...1/IMG_2146.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...1/IMG_2141.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...1/IMG_2187.jpg pics of my 2 plus if you get the same sex puppy you can let them use whatever doesn't fit your older yorkie anymore! collars clothes...so on |

I've been going thru the same thing with hubby. I have a girl but I want another girl. he says no since kizzy is almost housetrained and would have to start on another. plus the extra money. I told him, I have 2 carriers( which can be used as beds),plus 2 beds, 3 harnesses, smallest one being a ferret harness I got for Kizzy when she was so little. 4 leashes and one collar (which I've never used the collar but about 15 minutes, as I dont like those for these puppies and had already heard about using them before I purchased. I have a fenced in yard now. I have all kind of toys, some still brand new as sometimes I buy kizzy a few at a time and I dont give her all of them at once. So all it would cost is the cost of the dog and the shots. After that just the boosters and of course both have to be spayed but kizzy is getting spayed first part of August. I dont need to take to groomer as I want their hair to grow and I can keep their ears trimmed. I have all kind of shampoos, conditioners, and detangler, ive tried several different ones for kizzy. So whats the problem? I am the one at home all day alone and I have plenty of time on my hands to take care of two. I keep hoping he might change his mind. He is NOT a big dog person but he has fallen in love with kizzy. But he is never a dog person until i go out and by one then he loves them. I'm gonna keep on begging and hoping he gets me one and good luck to you with your hubby. I bet you get a yes before I do if I ever do. Hubby is good to me and gives me everything I need and more, and most things I want but not everything. He has already had our yard fenced in for Kizzy as he was more worried about that than I was or seemed to be. so good luck to you on getting new baby. |
Well you know how I feel- what's one more? Spike wants a new friend!:p |
Man I should have the hubby read this - you guys are SOOOOO convincing. After reading all this I am ready to go buy 5 more - ha, ha! My hubby too is GREAT to me but he too was never a big dog person and surprisingly he has fallen head over heels for Murphy but I just do not know if i can convince him in another one. At least without pissing him off. But you are right Nikki - What's one more 4 - 5 pound dog????? They are so small anyways. Okay I think I am going to have to put in some major over time on the hubby this weekend - ha, ha! |

I have been where you are. I really wanted another yorkie because I love mine so. But I went back and forth, because she is so spoiled. I wasn't sure I could do 2!!! But last month my husband made the decision for me. After hearing for a year and a half " I wanna another", he surprised me, by taking me on a drive out of the city, to a breeder. He purchased the puppy for me and said "there" . I am so glad he did that. They have only been together for 4 short weeks and they love each other. The puppy is her baby. They play together and sleep together. I say do it. I know it is hard but definitely worth it!!!! |

I do not think my luck is as good - my husband is not a big surpriser. But that would be so awesome if he did get me a puppy. I would be so happy and from what every one else says on here so would Murphy. :) Heres to wishing for all of us ladies with the stubborn hubbies. :) |
Max and Abbie keep each other company when I'm out or at work. They are so attached to one another. I LOVE having 2. Expenses increase but it's managable--I don't even notice. Plus, yorkies are small--they don't take up much space or eat a lot--hardly the same as having 2 St. Bernards  |

Cons: 1. It's definitely harder to travel with two even for short errands. 2. If they are close in age, they will both cross the rainbow bridge within days, months or a year or two. 3. More $$ for vets, food, supplies, etc. Pros: 1. Dogs are pack animals and will definitely enjoy eachother 2. You will have double the fun 3. You will have double the love |

I mentioned it several times all weekend too but NOTHING! I did howevere get the NO answer finally. He has a valid point we are trying to sell our house and builidng right now so he thinks it is too hard for now. I guess it would be easier to find a place to rent for a short time with one puppy instead of two. He said we can re-evaluate when we get in our new home. That seems way too far away. YIKES - I hope I can be patient! |

I have been there too. BUT he said he would get one and he did. Then I wanted another so wig would have someone to play with, he said if I would pay half so I did but she turn out to small she 2 now and her wt is 5 lbs. so Now I have 6 adults and 2 puppies from a littter Daisy had One male I\'m trying to sell.Good luck and I hope you get you a baby soon. |
I have an idea....have you already sold your house that you\'re living in now?? Tell your hubby that you need to go ahead and get your new puppy and get it potty trained while you\'re in your OLD house so it won\'t mess up your NEW house :D We just got our 2nd yorkie about a month ago. I, too, was really apprehensive about the whole thing. I didn\'t want to mess up a good thing that we had with Hobbs. But I have no regrets about getting our 2nd yorkie. Now we have 1 boy and 1 girl. LOVE IT! We are living in an apartment at the moment, temporariy, so we are trying really hard to get our puppy potty trained before we move into our permanent house. You know?! You don\'t want to mess up your brand new house! Tell your hubby this! :p |
