If you don't have a fenced yard... do you just take your puppy out on a leash everytime? |
Yes I take her out every time on a leash. Our other dog goes out on a chain but she is so small I worry about doing that so I take her on a leash. |
we just got the backyard fenced in, but yes we used to take him out for a walk three or four times a day. our lab just went out on a run, but now they both use the yard. |
i try to walk lexi when i get home from work or she just goes out on the both decks... i like to walk her for exercise mainly... |
we live away from the road, so unless it's nighttime or we're in a hurry, i let tucker out without the leash. the neighbor's house is closer to the road, so i put him on a leash while we're there. if we're going for a walk by the barns, i leash him up b/c i'm scared of the owls and hawks. tucker looks like a little jackrabbit when he runs :) |
right now my pups are only 10 weeks so i haven't put them on the leash yet but they are getting pretty brave so i soon will get them on one so they don't get hurt. |

We take Josie out on the leash or we put her on a tie out for "pettite" dogs with her harness. But that is only if we are outside doing yardwork or other things and we are with her. |
Cali is alwys either on a leash, in the little fenced area off my sliding glass door or in my arms. I could nver catch her if she decided to bolt. |
When we move, there won't be a fence and dogs aren't allowed unleashed, so he will always be on a leash. When were at my parents house, him and Gizmo run around in the fenced in part. When we move were going to buy one of those stakes w/ a leash on it so we don't have to hold the leash everytime, that's what we have now (a ghetto-rigged one) and it works fine. |
I got a 50-foot piece of cotton clothesline - and walked my dog in our "huge" backyard with it. He could go 50 feet in one direction and come back and go 50 feet in the other direction. He really traveled all over the place, and the clothesline was so light, he didn't even know he was tied to it. I use this also when I tie my pup outside occasionally. It gives him so much more freedom. He can run and play all over the place. Plus - occasionally I just let him run dragging the clothesline behind him. He doesn't even know it's there. But the advantage is that when I want to get him, I don't even need to get near him. I can pick up the clothesline some 30 or 40 feet away from him - and I've got him! .... never have to chase him. I live on 5 acres and never let Rosi out without being on a leash, dont have a car prob. but once in a while coyotes are roaming and hawks and owls. Poli is allmost 12 weeks and got my harnesses from chattiesmom, he is doing realy good ! |
We live on 4 acres in the country, but a highway goes by our home. I always put Max on a leash. He knows if we go out the back walkout he doesn't have to be on a leash as it is all pasture behind our home and wooded area. He walks right along side me. I just don't trust him out front. If he would see a rabbit or any animal, I am afraid he would run after it and go on the road. Jackie |
I will never let mine out of the house unless they are on a leash. We have to walk our dogs to the fenced in area of our yard and I don't even trust carrying them, they may see something and jump out of our arms, they are always on a leash if they are out. |
I have a fenced yard, so Sissy goes out without a leash - but not without me. When I took her with me to visit my girlfriend who lives on several wooded acres, I invested in a small X-pen to take with me so she could go out and do her business. It worked great, but if that were my only option, I would have purchased a larger one. |
