My husband wants to but i dont I got him for a pet and to spoil him but my husband wants to because he thinks he"s to cute not to. |
Yes I do plan on breeding my yorkies if they are good canidates for such. I am currently working with a mentor to learn to show and eventully breed. I will be doing all that is right before hand including the proper test and making sure that they are ideal for breeding. I believe although it is difficult to tell right now that tehir combination will produce a very good quality pup. I will not breed them however if they are not just right, I wont breed for tinies or ones that do not have exactly what i am looking for. |
breeding I love having Yorkie puppies around the house...If I was wealthy, I would have a vet on salary 24/7 just to care for my dogs..and I would just play with them. The worst stress I experience in life comes from a problem whelping. 10PM, snow storm, lights go out, no heat, Violet decides get in her box and have pups. Not a sign of whelping all day, she waits until the worst possible time. They better come out because there is no possible way to go to the ER. (they did) The very worst is when you see one lone foot sticking out of mom...pups is backwards and not always so easy to get out of a first time mommy...oh, I forgot the ones who come out and stop at the neck..head is out and nothing else happens..pull too much and you will break it's neck, wait too long and it dies. That is when I say...Oh, Lord, Oh Lord, please let this pup come out and I will retire, never do it again..I have prayed that prayer for 30 yrs..I hope God understands I will not keep my word..I can not...when it is over I forget the bad and only see my babies. 75% of the time all goes just fine, it is the 25% that I hate. |
Gracie is only about 4-5lbs, so I would be too worried. I couldn't handle the possibility of losing her. I also couldn't part with the babies anyway! ;) |
Breeding I am new to Yt,and I just wanted to say that you should breed your yorkie to start a new little bundle of yorkies! :) |
I would not breed my femal because she is way too small but I had considered using Buddha as a stud because he is really cute, but he is getting neutered next friday to make life easier for my daughter. Intact males are a hassle and have to be confined too much IMO. |
I have much respect to all of you great breeders out there, but the idea of my sweet, innocent baby boy making puppies sickens me. I think I'm just weird. |
I would not breed either of mine. I have a female yorkie whom is my baby and the risk and dangers associated with breeding and not having her spayed are something I don't even want to think about. I have been a member of several toy dog forums over the past few years and have seen several people suffer the loss of a beloved pet because of their desire to have puppies. I have also known a couple that have lost unspayed females due to Pyometra. As far as my male maltese goes I don't want to deal with marking or possibly any temperament problems either of them might develop due to breeding, not to mention all the other health problems that could arise. But if anyone does plan on breeding I would encourage them to seek out an experienced mentor to guide them thru. It's just not a risk I care to take...too much at stake for my comfort zone. |
No breeding for Esme. I couldn't risk something happening to her! Also, I work full time, and I have a feeling having a pregnant yorkie requires 24 hour care. And finally, she is definetly a pet quality yorkie. She is the cutest little thing, but still pet quality. ;) |
