I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | This is soooo......STRANGE. I don't know why...but for some reason, whenever we take Stedman for a ride in the car with us, he yawns........ALL the time! I'm talking every few seconds. Why the heck does he do this!! Does anyone elses dog(s) do this??? Hubby and I are TOTALLY clueless! He LOVES going for a car ride, and gets so excited when we take him. I don't know if him being excited has anything to do with it?? But why the YAWNING?? lol I don't understand!

| Is Steadman nervous in the car? If he is then the yawning might be just a little case of nerves... |

| First thing that came to my mind is claustiphobia. Maybe he doesn't enjoy tight enlcosed areas and if it is true that dogs yawn due to stress then that would make a lot of sense. Like Tigger... He loves to get in the car but the entire time we're driving he'll let out little whimpers. Bear just sleeps.

I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | I guess it really could be his nerves. It is just sooo strange to us because we always tell him, "You wanna go for a car ride??" and he starts FREAKING OUT!!! He gets sooo excited!! He starts jumping up in the air, barking, spinning around, and he HAULS BOOTY to the back door and barks because he wants to go so bad. I don't get it!! He LOVES to go, and gets so excited...but then when we are in the car, the yawning starts...it's the weirdest thing!!

| Is it possible that there is something in the car that he is allergic to? Does he have a new carseat? Or is the car new? What about one of those car air freshners? Steadman's sense of smell is so much greater than yours, maybe something is irritating his nasal passages. woopsie, I had sneezing on my mind, not yawning |

And I DID have an air freshener in the car, but I took that out forever and a day ago because I couldn't stand the smell, lol. I have an SUV and sometimes when we hit "bumps" in the road it is a little more rough than a car would be (for example when we are in my moms CAR, they are not as bad)...so anyway I don't guess it could be the big bumps that are scaring him??? But then again that can't be because I'm not CONSTANTLY driving over bumps...lol.. I don't know, I am just clueless! I just wish I knew why he was doing this and what I could do to fix it I have never had a dog that constantly YAWNS in the car lol.. Edited to add: No new carseat either...

| The vet told me when they yawn often it is a sign of stress. Maybe he is just bored and that is his way of asking, "Are we there Yet?" |
