Reaction to shot? Riley got her rabies shot on Monday. Before I left the vet's office I made sure to ask where they put her shot. Yesterday when I was brushing her, I felt a rather large bump. The bump is in the same vicinity of where the shot was given. Has anyone else had this reaction? Is this something to worry about? Riley's acting fine. She's eating, running & playing.

This happens quite a bit and there's nothing you can do about it. Most go away with time. If you begin to see any hair loss you might try rubbing Vitamin E oil on it.

Thanks Lacy's Mom. It's probably nothing. But a mom's going to worry.

You need to keep a close eye on the bump and if it gets any bigger you need to take her back to the vet. My sister's yorkie developed a bump after her shot a couple of months ago, and the bump kept getting bigger and bigger. My sister took her to the vet, they did a biopsy, and determined that it was a Staph infection! Sophie had to be on antibiotics for a week or two, but the bump went away. So, just watch it to make sure it doesn't get any bigger. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
